@kosmo86 our regular dress code is very casual. Like jeans and tennis shoes, even the owner. In the 7 months I’ve been here this is the first time I’ve had to dress up, I didn’t even know this was possible. I’m in non maternity clothes and it’s definitely not comfy. And not going to be possible to even attempt the pants I’m wearing today much further on so I’m going to have to ask what the likelihood is of this happening again before April.

I’m 100% a dog person. My husband had a cat when we got married, and I tolerated it, but we are never getting another one. After our dog dies we will probably take a bit of a pet break though - we want to live abroad and it’s not easy to do that with a pet.
@midway_mouse have you had the cats kidneys checked? Our cat died of kidney failure (well, we put him to sleep), but it was really sudden onset and the only initial symptom was that he started peeing outside of his litter box.
We really should have a pet thread! I'm 100% dog as well, but DH had a cat when I moved in, and he's pretty friggin sweet as well. Although I don't get cuddles on my belly so now I'm jealous! My dog always tries to make out with me, though
One of our cats usually favors DH, except when I'm pregnant. She hangs around me constantly, and actually patrols the house..making laps, checking in every room, etc. before she comes back to sit right by wherever I am in the house. It's sweet but also very intense, lol. The other cats don't care. I'm kind of worried how "my' cat is going to behave once the baby is here & she's not the baby anymore, lol. We got her when DD was 2 and she is a really spoiled Sphynx.
Is anyone else experiencing super frequent Braxton Hicks? I get them several times a week now, and it weirds me out. They're not painful, but they are definitely uncomfortable. I got them last night (after a really busy day), on and off, for several hours. Then today I've had a few, for no apparent reason since I'm just sitting on my ass working from home. I know there isn't really much to do about it, and it is normal, but it kind of freaks me out.
I just found out I have zero immunity to chicken pox. I’m literally around children ALL the time. So I’m crossing my fingers everyone I’m around is vaccinated or they don’t have it. I was vaccinated as a child and my blood work with DD showed immunity so I’m scratching my head over here about it.
@professormama I'm wondering if that's what I'm experiencing. It feels like gas pain, though. Do you actually feel your stomach tighten with these? I'm a FTM, too, so not really sure how they're supposed to feel. All I know is that I'm seriously uncomfortable most of the time, and I can't sleep. I'm about to lose it. It's way too early for that!
@professormama I had a ton with the twins last pregnancy. I think I've had a couple recently. I didn't even know that's what they were until recently to be honest! For me it just felt like tightening, like my muscles in my belly would seize up almost. Not a cramp, but the muscles feels hard like it's contracting but no pain for me. That's why I never thought anything of them.

For me it is not painful, though it is uncomfortable. It doesn't feel like gas pain (to me). My uterus becomes rock-hard and tight.
@professorma I had them CONSTANTLY with DD and I’m getting them regularly already with this one. Ugh. It’s harder to tell until the uterus is bigger but yeah, they’re there. With DD I just made sure I was really hydrated.
@professormama, hm, with Ds1 I never noticed Braxton hicks until I was closer to 35ish weeks, but what you're describing could possibly be something I've noticed the last few days. My stomach gets hard and kinda uncomfortable for a few moments. I had just figured it was babe pushing against me, but I suppose it could also be BHC.
Also, my pregnancy app says at 21 weeks babe should be "almost 3/4s of a pound." At my ultrasound Monday, the tech said he was 15 ounces... I'm hoping this isn't a sign I'm having ginormo-baby this time around .
Got into an argument with my father today about my SO. Sat there fuming while he said all these nasty judgmental things and finally I just got up and walked away because I knew that if I said anything else, it was going to come out mean and hurtful. Family can be extremely frustrating and I can’t wait until I find an apartment and am not trapped in the same house as mine.
@kangstadt I was thinking the same thing about my LO as well! Mine is 13 oz but at 20 weeks. He/she is measuring a few days ahead of my due date (which, with IVF, is pretty spot on)
@rennie1108, I'm just consoling myself with the thought that ultrasounds can be vastly wrong on weight estimates, haha. Plus it's still extremely early for any birth weight guesses. The day I went into labor with DS1 they estimated he was 7 pounds 13 ounces, he ended up being 6 pounds 13 ounces (thankfully, he had problems progressing as it was!). I'm hoping this babe is around that size too so I can avoid a c-section!
Anatomy scan day..... and honestly I am freaking out.
2 weeks ago we had a private scan at one of those 3d ultrasound place, it has a ton of great reviews and she seemed very knowledgeable. Although the baby had her legs crossed the tech was 100% she was a girl due to the "nub theory", we were almost 16 weeks and from everything I read the nub theory is pretty accurate.
But now we will find out for sure and kind of now have my heart set on a girl. This day needs to FLY by.

If anyone remembers from last week's random thread, H and I got into a huge fight on Sunday and he "moved" into the spare room and wasn't talking to me. Well after 4 days of that BS yesterday I finally said enough's enough. Smarten up or get moving. I'm not living that way. He was totally over reacting and while I understand he was upset that was not the right way to handle it. I took the girls to the mall with a friend last night just to get out of the house and focus on something else. I came home to the dishes being washed, a clean kitchen and a brand new orchid plant and chocolates. I'm glad it's over but I wish I would have spoken up sooner. Men. Ugh.

@mermaidca Glad that finally resolved! Have you guys tried counseling? Even just a couple sessions could be helpful -- at least it was for me and my partner. Something about having a mediator helps everyone behave more reasonably...
I have two random comments: 1) My arms got tired folding laundry last night. I wanted to laugh but also cry a little. 2) it's raining in LA! Yay! This city is too freaking sunny.
oh and everybody's cats are adorable My brother has a tortoiseshell and that cat is weird af but also so loving.
@mesweettea we did do counseling a couple years ago. I started going alone then he came to one together and he had one solo. He totally didn't open up to her. I think it was tough too because I saw her first. Maybe a couples-specific session with someone new might be good for us. We fight over the same issues, as many couples do, I just don't appreciate how he handles it. Well, water under the bridge now, nothing to do but work on it!
I did have to laugh last night, he came back to sleep in our room only for me to move to the spare room at 1am because he was snoring too loud! Haha.

Well my intuition was right. Another girl! Very active and very stubborn just like her sister. Tech had me go to the bathroom twice and it took 15 min to get one picture of the heart cause she would not cooperate.

@mermaidca - Glad he came to he senses. DH is not quite the storm off type but bottles it up but I can tell when he is fustrated. I am the type of person who just says shit out loud. So I generally have no issue calling BS on him. He gets pissed at first but then at least its just over and done with!

@mermaidca It took my H awhile to warm up to therapy and he has a lot of knowledge about it b/c that is what I do for my career! My H can be so stubborn too. It’s frustrating.
@ysotte I don’t think it is ever appropriate for family members to make comments on SO’s unless there is an abusive situation happening. It only serves to further the argument. Stepping away sounds like the best option.
@professormama I will have her checked. I am 95% sure it is behavioral as she has always been a sensitive and anxious cat. Dogs are so much easier ina lot of ways!
DH just texted me that starting Jan 1 his workplace is upping paternity leave from one week paid to four weeks full pay. I’m so excited. With DD he took pat leave plus one week PTO, so I’m really excited he gets four weeks for pat leave by itself. Especially since I’m so worried about DD adjusting and needing lots of attention herself. Yay for more companies recognizing the need for longer paid leave!
Dinner is served! Homemade chicken tortilla soup topped with avocado, cheese, cilantro and lime 😍 solved my soup craving and it feels good knowing I’ve eaten a decent, well rounded meal for once, haha.
