Re: Randoms 11/5

  • My cat might as well be made of velcro. He’s nearly inseparable from me at night, ever since week 8 or so. He usually gets a little cuddlier once it starts getting chilly but this is ridiculous. Between him and DH I have no chance of moving in bed.

Anyone else have weird pet behaviors lately?

  • @lin0442 our dog was acting really strange on Saturday. She wouldn't stop crying until she hid under a table in the basement. She wouldn't leave all night. I went down yesterday AM to take her outside and she's been fine ever since.

  • @barefootcontessa that's great news re: anatomy scan.

  • @BarefootContessa yay for hearing good news on your scan! I can only imagine what a relief it is to know baby is doing fine for sure.

My cat is always super clingy at night, to the point that I need to get her off me when I'm falling asleep and when I wake up she's squishing me in-between her and DH. I don't mind too much but it can get annoying. She is the annoying clingy that doesn't stop moving whereas my other cat will walk on you, flop down, and not move a muscle. Such different personalities.

  • I really love the family I work for, but everyday these kids abuse me more and more. This morning one of them chucked a shoe at my head on purpose. Right before that I had just yelled at his sister for throwing a toy fish at my head that got caught in my hair. I’m just so tired that I can’t deal with it some days. I wish DH made enough so I could take some time off before baby gets here. I really need a long break.
  • @BarefootContessa What wonderful news. I hope work evens out for you.

i think my DH has pregnancy brain sympathetic symptoms. I asked him 3 times to get a block of blue cheese not crumbles and he bought the crumbles. Also, he has been having tons of cravings. I am both amused and annoyed.
  • @harveyisaboysname have you considered looking for a new family to nanny for or a different job in general? They sound terrible, and if i remember, the parents don’t believe you?
One option you might consider is substitute teaching... it’s not perfect and there are rough days. But I used to do it and it wasn’t nearly as bad as what you’re describing.
  • @harveyisaboysname I'm confused. I thought you waxed for a living? Do you also nanny? I can't imagine how exhausting that must be!

  • @lin0442 my dog gets clingy when I’m pregnant. She likes to lay her head on my stomach whereas she usually lays at my feet.  She typically does it when the kids aren’t around because DS gets mad at her if she’s closer to “his mommy” than he is lol.

@barefootContessa so glad your anatomy scan went well!

I was really wanting DH to back earlier from his 5 day hunting trip so I could take an afternoon nap before my swim parents meeting tonight. But of course he comes in right before I have to leave to get DD from school and take her to dance.  I better get a good backrub tonight lol
  • @BarefootContessa I was waxing on the side while I was still in my Esthetics course. I just graduated a few weeks ago and I’m waiting to take my licensing exam to get a full time wax job. I’ve been nannying full time for this family for almost two years. It’s been really amazing up until the last few weeks when the kids really started acting up towards me. My contract with them ends in January though, so I’m only here for a little while longer
  • I'm kind of jealous of those with pets that cuddle.  The cats I've had kinda suck at being cats, and my dog is super cuddly but doesn't seem to act any differently when I'm pregnant.

@BarefootContessa, glad to hear the scan went well!

@harveyisaboysname, I would definitely talk to the parents (if you haven't already), or look for another job if you can.  It's not worth your stress/mental health.

    @lilpotatomama, that's pretty awesome :lol:.

  • Re: kegels
Was in the car for almost two hours and we went over a pretty big bump near the end. Definitely felt like I could have lost some drops based on how much I felt my full bladder squeeze and slosh...but I didn’t! Maybe because I have been remembering my kegels at least at bedtime?? Chalking it up to that and calling it a victory for the night.

    Also, congrats @BarefootContessa!
  • I slept for almost 11 hours last night. Went to sleep at 8:45 and got up at 7. Freaking amazing. Feeling a lot better - like a minor cold instead of like I’m at deaths door.

@lyse01 thanks for the reminder. I’ve been falling down on the job.
  • @professormama - I had 9.5 hours last night!

I have been trying to mobile bump and I keep getting errors and logged out. SOO annoying!

  • @harveyisaboysname I am so sorry. That sounds rough. At least there is some light at the end of the tunnel since your contract is up in January.

  • @harveyisaboysname Sorry, mama. Nannying is rough sometimes. I hope things get better & January comes smoothly.

I also slept for 10 hours last night! I wish I felt better, but ugh, still so tired and my sinuses are all swollen.

  • I never knew how much DH moved in the middle of the night. I couldn't sleep and every time I would be thisclose to falling asleep, DH would move. I wanted to kick him but he isn't feeling well so I let it slide. I need sleep and food. It's going to be a long day at work.
  • @MRDCle I'm so glad you're appointment went well!
  • @mrdcle I hated when the docs tried to do doppler with my twins.  It's so hard to find 2 distinct HBs (and not yours) it creates unneeded stress!  When I was admitted at the end and they attached those monitors 4 times a day, I constantly had to hold them, move them and angle them to stay on each babe.  Let me say I am beyond pleased to be only having a singleton this time, but there is something so special about twins.   <3<3

  • I’ve been lurking a lot today. Started making my hospital packing list thanks to F19 and I’m actually glad I did because now it has me on the hunt for a tote-type bag. I only have small purses and GIANT suitcases.
Also, June 19 has an amazing mocktail thread going. Highly recommend lurking that if y’all are missing cocktails!
  • @lilpotatomama I definitely took a way bigger bag than necessary last time so we could smuggle stuff back. Any open packs of wipes or diapers be sure to take back with you (they won't use them for the next patient is my understanding) and I also took the big pads for the couch/our bed while my bleeding was bad, and some of the banana ice packs.

  • Super jealous of all you ladies getting so much sleep. With migraines, back pain, and DH being gone I haven’t been getting the quality sleep I need to function.

@MRDCle not finding the heartbeats would stress me out so much. My doctor couldn’t find DSs once and it ended up being the Doppler’s batteries were dead. Glad you got to see your boys.

@mermaidca DS moved around so much those monitors were basically useless when I was in the hospital. So they’re still a pain with singletons lol
  • @lilpotatomama Damn.  I just went to read it.  My list is now going haha.  Last time I went from a check up to being admitted at 28 weeks so I never did have a bag packed.  I might pack one early this time.

@kosmo86 I came here to say that too.  With every new BMB I feel like we've hit a new milestone.

@blueberrymomma Oh darn!  Haha.  At least I'll only have to chase one instead of two this time.

OMG the July board is up! one more board up means one less month for us to go!
I’m so glad I’m not due in July or August. Being 8/9 months pregnant in the heat of summer would suuuuuck.

Pregnancy is such a time of waiting. I know so many people love pregnancy and treasure it. But I’m impatient. I’ve never been good at waiting.
  • @professormama - DD came in August and I live in Florida. I spent A LOT of time indoors. The only thing that sucks is we mustly have shorts weather March-October. So of course I will need some new maternity clothes. UGH

  • @lilpotatomama I don’t even know where to start with packing a hospital bag! I am such an over packer and I can see myself packing unnecessaries and forgetting something important.
  • @professormama I’m with you on being glad about April. It’s usually 100+ here in the summer. Being due in July was freaking awful. Plus I think the post partum night sweats were even worse because of the weather. NO FUN.
    this is my backup acct.

  • @midway_mouse @lilpotatomama You honestly don't need to worry about packing a hospital bag yet. And I feel like people get really concerned about it, but really need need a nightgown / oversized shirt you can toss after labor (better than wearing a hospital gown during labor). And you need a toothbrush and some comfortable, loose clothes for after labor. I don't think I needed more for going to the hospital than I would have needed for any other night away. And you can pack a bag in like 5 minutes flat. I wouldn't worry about it much.

omg the night sweats... those are bad any time. I had my son during November and I always kept a set of towels nearby to throw down in the middle of the night.

Oh NO. I forgot those. DS was born in Feb and many nights I was cracking the window near the bed because I was sweltering.

  • @professormama oh, I know! I’m just a sucker for packing check lists and it was fun to get one going. I already know my list will be fairly simple, anyhow. I tend to pack for any sort of event too early. I start packing for vacations weeks in advance!
  • OMG I forgot about the night sweats. Those were the worst. I also kept towels close by to put on the bed in the MOTN.

@MRDCle so random. A beard trimmer 😂 sounds like something my DH would do.
