Re: Genetic Testing
ETA- my test showed up in the portal this morning so now I wait. I’m still thinking tuesday will be the day.
The sex is in an envelope that I took to my house. DH and I will open it together tonight.

My previous pregnancy I had NT scan and blood work which all came back normal, though I did loose her at 20wks to pprom.

then 3 failed IUIs, and finally a successful IVF FET.

because apparently that's how life works now. Team Blue!
I'm really hoping it's about 1 week because I'll be working at a Christmas market next week and there is always such cute baby stuff there that I will want to buy! But it REALLY needs to be within 2 weeks because we plan to tell our families the gender at Thanksgiving.
I'm a FTM, and just had my 12 appointment this week. We did an ultrasound, and I thought they'd do the NT measurement, and that husband and I could use that as an indicator of whether we 'needed' an NIPT or further testing. But they didn't and when I asked the OB she said that they don't do the NP because other testing was more accurate. But from a variety of pregnancy type sites and (mostly lurking) on these boards I'd thought it was pretty universal that the NT scan would happen.
Anyone else's OB/midwife/etc NOT recommend / do the NT?
Husband and I had originally not been planning on much testing (unless the NT was abnormal) but now I'm leaning towards doing the NIPT anyway so we've got any information we need.
Could I get a few opinions? The docs don't seem to have much to say either way.
I had a big blood draw at my 6w / first appointment, and the OB this week said everything from that looked good. But the two appointments since have been ultrasound with a tech who measures and prints pic's and may or may not be able to tell me much, pee in a cup, and then chat with the OB I'm cycling with this week for a few minutes about how I'm feeling and any questions I have. There hasn't been a whole lot of guidance or interaction outside of my (amazing) np the first appointment.
I think the weirdest part to me what that she (the ob) flat out said they don't do that.
I probably need to ask more questions, and I'm v happy that everything appears uncomplicated thus far. But I'm just a but unsure.
My OB was pretty emphatic about not doing it because it wasn't as accurate as the NIPT and other more invasive tests. But it's possible that they weren't equipped to do it. I had a transvaginal ultrasound this week (less uncomfortable than I thought it would be, actually!) and the tech did lots of other measurements. And I'm pretty sure the anatomy scan will be in house and not a specialist or hospital. But it's definitely possible!
The OB mentioned no STIs and the fact that I was immune to the German measles as specific things that the first blood test determined. And confirming the pregnancy of course, although I think we're pretty sure of that now, two ultrasounds later.
