@MalonT23 ahh gotcha. Sorry I missed that about the NIPT. I totally remember reading that you didn't have enough fetal DNA now. I have not been on my game with mom-ing and working and bumping this morning (forgot DD's lunch so have to run back to daycare on my way into the office once traffic subsides).
@MalonT23 I’m so sorry you are going through this. The waiting is the WORST part. For what it’s worth, I would also do the amino to have the peace of mind of knowing what you are dealing with, especially if you have already had one and trust the MFM. I actually have a friend who got amnios with all her pregnancies after losing a baby to DS, despite having low risk NIPT results. In her mind, she needed to know as much information as possible and fully trusted her MfM.
ETA- my test showed up in the portal this morning so now I wait. I’m still thinking tuesday will be the day.
@chloe97 which test did you do? I did Counsyl and I'm so annoyed, it's estimated to be complete today but hasn't moved past the "processing" phase...and my dr. office basically just told me to wait. So annoying!
@bluesky24 Panorama. I am sorry about your wait. It's awful. I can't believe that the clinic sent my blood by standard mail. You would think they would want to overnight this stuff to make sure it gets there on time.
I am still waiting for my Panorama test results. Had my 12 wk appointment and our nugget is growing well, measured 12wks+4 Ahead of where we are (12+1). The doctor called the lab to see if he could get results but not available yet. Had the blood drawn on 10/17 so 12 business days and counting. Wait is killing me

I cannot believe that!! That is really unusual. I would be the same as you.
I just emailed the nurses at the practice I go to to ask them to check the Panorama website to make sure my results were in yet and they let me know that they actually note the dates that the results are expected on the provider website. Mine are due between November 4th and November 6th, so I will be bugging them again next Monday, but I thought that I would mention it for those still waiting- their provuder may be able to get an estimation of when the results are due.

@chloe97, thank you so much for posting to help others. After I read your message, I called Natera and asked when results would be ready and they said they had sent the results to my doctor on 10/28. I explained that doctor’s office seemed to have lost it so they gave me the case number and got to the portal and results are in. Low risk. I am so grateful of the results and now we can tell immediate family. Called dr’s office and they accepted they had misplaced the results. Hope you get yours soon too.
@coffeeislife I got my test done on 10/26 and my results today 11/5. so 11 days total. It took 5 calendar days just to get in Natera's system though and 5 days from when they actually got the blood tests. If that makes sense?
@chloe97 makes sense! Mine was the next business day,10/29, so maybe I will start making calls tomorrow. I didn't get a website logon though so I guess I need to just go through the OB's office.
Any IVF mom's w/ PGS normals who did additional testing? Could use some advice, currently 10wks6d and trying to decide if I should do genetic testing. Normally I would just do it but I did IVF and had the embryo PGS tested (which came back normal). Not sure if it's necessary to do additional testing. My previous pregnancy I had NT scan and blood work which all came back normal, though I did loose her at 20wks to pprom.
I got my results- all is healthy! So, it took 1 week exactly. I don't know what type of test it was though- I was originally told Panorama but my OB said the hospital typically uses something else.
@melbee81 I'm so sorry to hear about your prior loss. DD was a PGS-tested embryo, my OB (who did her residency with my RE, coincidentally) did not recommend additional genetic testing. She explained it as the PGS test being more specific and detailed than the tests given during pregnancy, so the PGS was plenty. Not sure if that makes sense, I'm paraphrasing.
DD born PPROM preemie at 36 weeks on 10/1/17 after over a year TI, then 3 failed IUIs, and finally a successful IVF FET.
Due with #2 5/2/19 after HIO once in my FW, because apparently that's how life works now. Team Blue!
@mrsdee15 That's exactly what I was wondering but my MFM was pretty much just giving me the options and not helpful in deciding one way or the other. Thanks for the input!
@melbee81 we did the panorama even though we have a normal pgs tested embryo. Since I am AMA insurance pays for it- OB said not necessarily needed but pgs is not always 100% accurate so why not compare.
Got a message through my patient portal that my test results were normal! They came back a few days earlier than estimated too. For some reason I’m nervous to start telling family since we wanted to wait for these results due to me being over 40.
Had the blood drawn for maternity 21 plus today, and my Dr said it would be $299. Not ideal, but way better then the $1,000 plus estimate last pregnancy. Well they gave me a number to call to lock in My estimate, and they people said it would be $0! Let’s see if that actually happens, but that made my day.
Met with the genetic counselor this morning. Apparently despite me being AMA, and having it with my last pregnancy, insurance doesn’t cover NIPT testing with twins! Apparently there hasn’t been enough studies as to the effectiveness. Not what we expected to here (although CVS or amnio is automatically covered which is so weird) We opted for the squad screen at this time. If that comes back increased risk, we would look at paying for the NIPT tests out of pocket before doing an amnio. NT ultrasound looked good on both babies.
@merrylea I remember that from last time — so frustrating! Especially because if all is well (or low risk), that answer will come back the same if it’s twins or not. It’s only if there’s a problem that the test doesn’t help you identify which twin, but if there’s a problem you’d probably move to a cvs or amino anyway whether twins or not! Very annoying.
I did the harmony test on Tuesday 11/6 (at 12+1). How long did it take everyone to get results from this specific test????
I'm really hoping it's about 1 week because I'll be working at a Christmas market next week and there is always such cute baby stuff there that I will want to buy! But it REALLY needs to be within 2 weeks because we plan to tell our families the gender at Thanksgiving.
Hi y'all! I'm not postive this is the best place to ask this, but figured it would be a good start. I'm pretty new to bumping so please let me know if there's a better place!
I'm a FTM, and just had my 12 appointment this week. We did an ultrasound, and I thought they'd do the NT measurement, and that husband and I could use that as an indicator of whether we 'needed' an NIPT or further testing. But they didn't and when I asked the OB she said that they don't do the NP because other testing was more accurate. But from a variety of pregnancy type sites and (mostly lurking) on these boards I'd thought it was pretty universal that the NT scan would happen.
Anyone else's OB/midwife/etc NOT recommend / do the NT?
Husband and I had originally not been planning on much testing (unless the NT was abnormal) but now I'm leaning towards doing the NIPT anyway so we've got any information we need.
Could I get a few opinions? The docs don't seem to have much to say either way.
@kayforever this is a perfect spot for this question! NT’s are pretty common. They certainly aren’t the most accurate but they are usually accompanied by a small finger-poke blood test. I find it weird that they wouldn’t do it, though. My NT scan was optional but I chose to do it because my insurance covered it.
@mrskoz Yay! I've only really posted in the intro, ultrasound, and my group threads.
I had a big blood draw at my 6w / first appointment, and the OB this week said everything from that looked good. But the two appointments since have been ultrasound with a tech who measures and prints pic's and may or may not be able to tell me much, pee in a cup, and then chat with the OB I'm cycling with this week for a few minutes about how I'm feeling and any questions I have. There hasn't been a whole lot of guidance or interaction outside of my (amazing) np the first appointment.
I think the weirdest part to me what that she (the ob) flat out said they don't do that.
I probably need to ask more questions, and I'm v happy that everything appears uncomplicated thus far. But I'm just a but unsure.
@kayforever welcome! The NT scan is standard at my OB’s office but I only know them and have nothing to compare to. Maybe your OB meant that they don’t do them in house and you have to go elsewhere to get it done if you want it? But even then I think you’d need a referral from your OB. I know a lot of places don’t have the higher-tech ultrasound machines and send you to either a special imaging place or a hospital if you want it done. Whatever bloodwork you had done at the beginning isn’t relevant — I think that was to confirm your blood type and a few other basic things but was too early to detect fetal DNA.
My OB was pretty emphatic about not doing it because it wasn't as accurate as the NIPT and other more invasive tests. But it's possible that they weren't equipped to do it. I had a transvaginal ultrasound this week (less uncomfortable than I thought it would be, actually!) and the tech did lots of other measurements. And I'm pretty sure the anatomy scan will be in house and not a specialist or hospital. But it's definitely possible!
The OB mentioned no STIs and the fact that I was immune to the German measles as specific things that the first blood test determined. And confirming the pregnancy of course, although I think we're pretty sure of that now, two ultrasounds later. Definitely too early for fetal DNA. I'm assuming it also looked at the Rh factor, but no one said anything specific about it (other than "blood was good") and I know I'm O+ so I'm pretty sure that's a non-issue.
@kayforever the NT scan is not routine at my office either unless you are high risk/AMA. It also wasn’t covered by my insurance since I am low risk and only 30.
@kayforever not sure what is considered standard care but in my experience, I had the NT scan done at the hospital in the Maternal Fetal Medicine dept. but I’m also high risk due to being over 35.

@kayforever I had the Panorama test done, and while my ultrasound tech was doing our NT scan, she said that it’s good to get the NT scan even if you’ve had genetic testing because they’ve found that an abnormal NT can be a sign of heart defects that wouldn’t show up on the genetic testing. I thought that was interesting.
