  • @tosh24 for the 1 hr my doctor didn't tell me to fast, she just said to avoid eating anything with a lot of sugars (natural or otherwise) before
  • @tosh24 The 1 hour GTT is not fasting, the 3 hour is. I just wouldn’t eat a high carb meal right before.

  • @tosh24 my doctor told me to eat like normal but not eat right before the test. I ate like 2.5 hours before the test.
  • Thank you! I just ate my normal high fiber cereal so I guess it is kinda carb heavy but I have 4 hours between breakfast and my test so I figured it would be OK. I won't have anything else to eat until after the test.

  • @tosh24 I'm sure you'll be okay - 4 hrs is plenty of time for your body to process it!  My MFM said that she feels the non-fasting results are better than first thing in the morning fasting ones because your pancreas is still sleeping or not fully with it yet.  Not sure how true it is but I guess it sort of makes sense.
  • I'm so out of it,  I had my glucose test, plus two vaccines and I felt like I couldn't breath in the room I was in.  I'm so happy to have the test behind me,  now I am just waiting for the results!
  • I have my glucose tomorrow... and the tetanus shot, and regular appointment. Crossing my fingers that glucose goes ok again. I'm going to be so bored. Lol.
  • @galactickates I stalked my patient portal. My test results are 106 MG/DL. Is that good or bad? No word from the drs office so assuming good?
  • @ms_stevens87 For the 1 hour? That’s good. The cut-off for failing is usually 130-140.

  • 3 hour glucose test tomorrow and I'm seriously dreading it. My arm is still all bruised from the 1 hour on Monday, I'm going to look like a drug addict after tomorrow.

Normal doctors appointment on Monday and then I start bi-weekly! I can't believe were already at this point!!!!

Oh and I need to remember to ask my doctor to get my flu shot. Both times I've gone to Target, the wait has been outrageously long.
  • Man, I’m pretty sure I don’t start going every other week until 36 weeks; but now I’m wondering if I’m remembering incorrectly since so many of you seem to already be!

  • @ms_stevens87 my portal says 70-134 is normal range. I had 112
  • @ms_stevens87 mine said 140 was fail. I had 131 and was told I passed.

  • @MrsDho11 I switch to every week at 36 weeks!
  • @MrsDho11 I'm the same as kaf1788 - I'm 29 weeks right now and on bi-weekly appointments until 36 weeks, when it becomes weekly.
  • So mad. Doctor must have gotten weeks wrong so no glucose or tetanus today. I just wanted to get it over with. Had my mom come over to watch my daughter so she wouldn't have to be impatient the whole time. So frustrated.
  • I'm going bi-weekly now and have been since 24 weeks because they wanted to monitor my weight gain. I also did my glucose test as early as they allow at 24 weeks. The patient portal says normal is 40-135 and mine was 75.

Today, I am 28w3d and at my appointment they again brought up that I haven't gained a lot of weight. She said, "Here it says your starting weight was 155 and now you're 157 and if that's true then you've only gained 2 pounds and that's a little concerning. I explained that the 155 was what the nurse asked me over the phone and I don't have a scale and I told her that I weighed around 150-155 and she must have wrote 155. I also told her that I could have been somewhere between 145-150 but closer to 150 is my guess. She said that fortunately, when they measure my belly, it is always right on track (measured right at 29 today) and that's a good thing. I did explain that when I was pregnant with my daughter I lost a lot early on and then gained in the second trimester and slowed down in the third.

She wanted to be sure I'm eating enough and possibly to suggest seeing a nutritionist. I explained that I eat a lot normally, not pregnant. Like I just eat a ton. While pregnant, I eat even more and I don't think I physically can eat more. She said that the baby must be sucking all my nutrients and that everything else points to all being healthy but if the measurements drop, they will want to do a growth scan.

I'm glad everything seems fine, but I hate my weight being this issue that I can't do anything about. And then I tell people and they are like "Oh you're lucky, I gained 50 pounds while I was pregnant! At least you'll lose it quick." And I get what they mean but it's still obviously a concern from my doctor. I also worry that I will get so sickly skinny once the baby is here if I'm fortunate enough to breastfeed again because I seriously lost 50 pounds while breastfeeding my daughter and literally could not keep weight on. It got to the point that I was self conscious about how I looked and how clothes fit on me because I think I got down to 135 and for my body shape, that's too small. So of course I am worried about that again and then I feel like one of those people who complain about being skinny that other people get annoyed with.

Sorry, that was a lot. Baby boy's HR today was 135 and sounded perfect and apparently he is sitting super low (which I kind of figured lol).

Maybe I’m remembering wrong then! So very possible! My memory is awful... I go in a couple weeks at just over 28 weeks, so we’ll see when they schedule me for after that!

  • @pttomato @galactickates @MrsDho11

thanks ladies. I didn’t dare google anything. Bc I end up in a rabbit hole.  I’m currently 25 weeks. Will be 26 on Saturday. My first two week appointment I’ll be 27w3d and I officially hit my third trimester on the day of my shower!! C’mon 11/4
  • @emmaaa that's got to be so difficult. People forget that not being able to gain or maintain weight is just as frustrating (and health-concerning) as gaining too much weight. Since I started overweight, they're not concerned with my overall lack of weight gain at the moment (I'm up maybe 5lbs), but like you, as long as the baby is measuring on schedule and things seem okay...
When I have had to gain weight before (I have Crohn's), eating right before going to sleep helped with gaining. Especially if it was more carbs than anything. I'm sure you've tried it all, but just for the future!

  • Just started my 3 hour glucose test...hoping I don’t puke and that these hours go quickly....
  • @UnbreakableKimmySchmidt good luck! Hopefully you've got a book or something to keep you entertained. I brought an adult coloring book and listened to The Birth Hour.
  • @gorgeousariel thank you! Brought books and DD’s kindle so I can watch Netflix!
  • @UnbreakableKimmySchmidt I'm only liking in commiseration. I'm 1.5 hours into it and I'm so hungry and sick and tired of sitting here! I'm streaming tv but it gets soooo boring after a while.
  • I have my glucose test today too. I am already trying to think of things to eat before I take it. I had two eggs and a cheese stick this morning for breakfast. It wasn't enough. :(

I ended up at the hospital yesterday for contractions. I was having them all day yesterday and so I finally just called it and went in. Where they stopped. I only had 2 or 3 mild contractions while I was there so they aren't calling it preterm labor yet. I am starting to dilate a bit though which is a change from 2 weeks ago when they checked me because of contractions.

I think it might be my job so if I start getting them more often I am just going to go out early if I have to. It's not worth the stress if it puts me into preterm labor. I've been through that with DD. I want to have it calm down before I get to that same point.

  • I had my 1 hour glucose yesterday and FAILED! I totally spaced and had soup for lunch, I looked back at it when I got home and it had a TON of sugar! Ooops! It didn't look to far above the high range, so although sitting at the lab for 3 hours will suck on Monday I'm pretty confident I'll pass the 3 hour. Otherwise I had a 26 week check which went well, DH came with me and they gave him the doppler to find baby's heartbeat which he enjoyed..

@UnbreakableKimmySchmidt glad to hear you passed your 3 hour! How did you do during the 3 hours? I'm worried I'll puke, I always get nauseous when I don't eat AND when I drink anything high sugar.

@sparkymcgeee I'm glad your contractions were able to stop, agree that leaving work early is worth it if necessary for your stress levels
  • Anyone else have high amniotic fluid levels? I have to see a Parinatologist to do another ultrasound and confirm/deny the fluid level. It was 24.5 (I'm not sure the measurement) and 22 is the top on the normal range. Doctor said that it's possible it was a fluke today and not actually high, or they're just high. He said some complications include something wrong with baby that he's not drinking as much as he should (like gastro issues) or maybe it's just the way it is, but can lead to him staying breach or not engaging properly or issues with the cord getting in the way.

  • @sparkymcgeee I'm glad they stopped!!  And hopefully they stay stopped for a few more weeks at least!!
  • I also had my glucose test today. I had the orange flavor, and was able to drink it at home before the appointment. For the first couple sips I thought "this isn't that bad," but by the end I was gagging pretty badly.

The baby has been kicking up a freaking storm ever since I took the glucola. I'm over it and wish he'd settle down a bit. I don't mind the kicks so much, but the rolls feel kinda freaky and they've been almost constant today.

@sweetyjenj my doctor said my amniotic fluid is on the high end of normal. He also said that may be my "normal." They will continue to monitor. I also showed to be mildly anemic. That would explain the episodes I've been having where I feel like I'm going to pass out. Congrats on passing your test.

    @ladystout08 congrats on good news!

@UnbreakableKimmySchmidt nicely done passing your 3-hour test.

@sparkymcgeee stress will do it. It does it for me in my job. I can empathize.

I passed my glucose test! I'm so relieved.

  • @sparkymcgeee I hope you avoid preterm. That sounds miserable.

Also, yay for y'all passing your GTTs! I don't take mine for another two weeks.
