It's a miracle you guys. I've gone back to drinking coffee the last couple of days and my all day debilitating nausea is legit 90% better. I got to run errands this weekend and even took DD to the park this morning. I haven't been drinking it because I can't stand the smell when it brews, but I can tolerate drinking it after I creamer the sh*t out of it. And I don't know if it's making my diclegis work better or if it's a magic pill all by itself, but I'm so happy and hope it keeps working. I've switched to half-caff so I can have a cup in the morning and afternoon, but it is still making a huge difference. A woman in DD's BMB told me she recently started drinking coffee again and it's been keeping the nausea away for her, too. So maybe this tip can help some of you suffering out there? Coffee seems like the last thing that would help morning sickness, but I'm real glad it's working for me.
@poshspice so glad it's working for you!! I swear it's like your nausea just transferred over to me. I have felt terrible the last couple days lol. I may start drinking coffee again just to see if it helps! I have to do decaf though because caffeine makes me feel awful lately. We'll see!

@poshspice I'm glad you're getting some relief! Coffee makes me SO sick. I really don't know what it is, it started the month before I found out I was pregnant. If I drink it, I can't eat anything without vomiting or running to the toilet for other reasons. I stopped drinking coffee like the day I found out I was pregnant and that vomiting and pooping all day and awful burny pain I was getting went away. Drank coffee a couple weeks ago and it came back. Coffee hates me 😭
@poshspice caffeine helps my migraine nausea! I wonder if it’s related?
Speaking of nausea, dinner needs to hurry TF up or I’m going to throw TF up. We’re having gyro bowls and I’m so excited 😍 delicious chicken, cous cous, feta, lettuce, tomatoes, and homemade tzatziki sauce. Only homemade because I forgot to buy some yesterday 🙄 H is going to clean up since I cooked and I think he’ll do bedtime with DS because I’m not feeling well. He’s a gem.
@zuuls_mom ugh, so sorry to hear that! I hope you find something that helps! Literally nothing else I ate or drank or zofran or diclegis worked for my nausea until I added the coffee back in. It's not 100% gone, but I'm functional now. And not bed ridden.
ugh @eatinwatermelonseeds that sounds like the worst. It's so weird how different everyone is! I hope you find something that makes you feel better soon!
@DuchessOfCambridge if it helps your migraine nausea it could be worth a shot if you're having bad nausea with pregnancy. I mean, the worst that could happen is you get sicker or puke, right?
@poshspice caffeine helps my nausea too! I can’t stomach hot coffee mainly because of the smell, so I’ve been drinking sugary iced coffee drinks. I’m a coffee snob and usually shun Starbucks but have been getting iced vanilla lattes and similar things bc it’s the only way I find it palatable. I notice a significant difference on days when I get some coffee in both my nausea and my fatigue (duh on that second one). My “morning” sickness is actually at its lightest in the morning so I have a small window in the morning when I can manage to keep it down.
I got this in a Bump Box, and it's helping with my (all day) nausea! It's lemon/orange/grapefruit scented, so it seems to cut through whatever smell is triggering me. O now carry it in my purse/put it on my desk at school for emergency applications.
Does anyone else feel like you are “breaking the seal” when you take you first pee of the day? I feel like I can wait until lunch to go to the bathroom, but after that, I have to pee every hour, even if I haven’t drank that much! It’s so weird. Feels like when I overindulged I’m alcohol!

No I have to pee the second I wake up, and if I wake up at 3 am, that's when I gotta pee

Definitely not. I have to pee first thing when I wake up, even if it's in the middle of the night. Also during my last pregnancy my bladder became nerve damaged and I lost the sensation and eventually ability to pee. It didn't come back until like 6 months postpartum and in the meantime I had to learn to catheterize myself... still don't have regular "need to pee" sensation and it's been almost 3 years. It's pretty uncommon, and probably not going to happen to you, but I definitely partially blame my teaching job/restrictive pee schedule, so I would seriously recommend not waiting until lunch to pee.
@brie_and_almonds@megsb615@sleepy33 I mean, I pee right when I get up, then at lunch, and then every hour after that. It’s weird that I don’t feel the need to pee after my morning pee but I do all the time after my lunch pee.
@mrskoz428 I learned last pregnancy to drink tons of water during the day but I try to not drink as much in the last hour or two before bed...if I get up, I'm up for an hour and a half. So...I do usually feel like i have to pee in the morning and am cursing DH but while solo parenting the past week, some days I forget to go as I'm chasing DD around and then do drop off and start working and am like "oh my gosh how have I not pee'd yet???" Then it's like crazy. Odds are you're peeing out what you had from the night before first thing in the morning and then it's taking a while to catch up to you with morning water (lunchtime).
@brie_and_almonds omg that sounds awful. catheterize yourself?!? I remember how uncomfortable the catheter was from my epidural with DD1 - I don't think I could do that to myself!
DD1: June 2014 - VBM4lyfe DD2: October 2016 DC3: coming May 2019
@brie_and_almonds was it difficult? I find catheterizing women to be really difficult sometimes and have actually thought about if it would be just as difficult on myself or a lot easier. Did you straight Cath each time or do an indwelling at any point?
@brie_and_almonds you don't have to answer any of my weird ass questions 😂 I'm a little embarrassed now lol. I've only known men to catheterize themselves so it's interesting to me 😂
PSA to all: Don't be afraid of the catheter... if you need it, just do it! More problems can arise if you don't! My postpartum nurse was awful, and when I told her I was having trouble peeing, she basically threatened to cath me and told me to try leaning around and etc. After a while enough urine built up in my bladder that I was able to force some out by flexing my abs, and I went home like that, thinking that was okay... until a few weeks later I started wetting the bed at night because my bladder got so full that sitting up to climb out of bed was enough pressure to squeeze it and make me pee myself. I called my OB, and they brought me in... when they cathed me I had over a liter of urine even though I had "peed" right before. Once my bladder was empty I also instantly started having contractions too since apparently my giant, distended bladder was blocking my uterus from shrinking back down.
@k2k2tog It was definitely an unpleasant time, but it did get much easier with practice. It truthfully wasn't even painful after like the first couple of days -- just uncomfortable and massively inconvenient.
@eatinwatermelonseeds it was slightly difficult at first and I had to buy a mirror to see wtf I was doing. Eventually I got so I could do it by feel -- probably TMI, but my urethra is slightly internal, so I would put one finger below it, blocking my vagina essentially, and then I could get it pretty easily. I started out with a plain straight cath, and then, after I was referred to the expert bladder doctor, I started getting an awesome little thing called a SpeediCath Compact -- prelubricated and came in a little twist-apart cover so instead of having to carry and manage a bunch of different parts, I just had to have a few of them in my purse. They improved my quality of life and general misery about having a sucky broken bladder about 1000x.
@brie_and_almonds thank you 😂 I'm sorry that was your experience, that nurse was rude and irresponsible. After you peed only a little, she should've bladder scanned you to make sure you weren't still retaining anything. I'm sorry.
For future reference (hopefully you won't need to do that again), coughing a little can help expose it too. Makes it a bit easier to find. That kit they gave you is awesome. I've never seen that before! Also, there's no such thing as TMI with me, obviously 😂
@eatinwatermelonseeds yeah, that nurse was awful in more ways than one... she also was never around (which I could be a little lenient on, like maybe she had another patient who was bleeding out or something), said she was going to help us give the baby her first bath and then disappeared and never showed up again (DD was born at 6:30 am, badnurse's shift started at 7am, ended at 7pm, and the next nurse brought us all the bath stuff and helped bathe DD at like 8:30 or 9pm), and told me I couldn't see the lactation consultant even though I said I was having trouble getting a good latch, and probably other things that I'm forgetting. I'm giving birth in the same hospital again, and if I somehow get her again I will definitely ask to change nurses.
I'm definitely not afraid anymore... badnurse probably only threatened me cause she didn't want to have to do it. If they threaten to cath me this time, I'll just tell 'em I'll do it myself. 💪
@megsb615@lappymom2019 The bump boxes are a great little pick me up each month during pregnancy. I started half way through my 1st pregnancy, and looked forward to it with this one. You get 4ish full size products and some samples each month, related to where you are in your pregnancy. This month I got the lotion, a prenatal vitamin water, anti-morning sickness drink mix, and a pregnancy journal. My favorite box last time came at 20 weeks with a "Coming Soon" ultrasound frame. You can Google "bump box" for the website, https://bumpboxes.com/
I had my first prenatal appointment today. Thankfully everything looked good with baby. But after I got home, I got a low fever again and am now spotting lightly. I had told my OB how i had a fever over the weekend. She said to take Tylenol and call her if it goes above 100.3. I don't understand why it went away and came back now. Im hoping the spotting is just from the transvaginal U/S, even though this has never happened before (and I've had a ton of U/S in my life).
@expandcontract Ugh now frustrating! I know my nurse has told me spotting after an ultrasound can happen. So I would try not to be too worried, but maybe call your Dr and let her know.
@expandcontract I’m sorry. That’s always scary. I had some spotting after my transvaginal us too, but thankfully it only lasted a day. Hope yours is quick too!

I had to have a catheter once I got my epidural and then it stayed for one full day after my csection. It didn’t bother me because I couldn’t feel it but when they said they were going to take it out I hardcore panicked because that meant I had to pee by myself and use muscles 😂 I thought having a cs would mean I wouldn’t be afraid to go to the bathroom since that area was all “in tact” for lack of a better term but ohhhhh man did I not realize how many muscles I used until that day.

*Thinks to myself, “I haven’t been having many symptoms the last couple of days, are you cool in there, Peanut? Just chilling?”*
*A few hours later, can’t even keep water down. Thanks for letting me know you’re still good in there, Peanut*
