I had to have a catheter once I got my epidural and then it stayed for one full day after my csection. It didn’t bother me because I couldn’t feel it but when they said they were going to take it out I hardcore panicked because that meant I had to pee by myself and use muscles 😂 I thought having a cs would mean I wouldn’t be afraid to go to the bathroom since that area was all “in tact” for lack of a better term but ohhhhh man did I not realize how many muscles I used until that day.
There's nothing like the terror you feel when you've just had a c-section and you realize you need to sneeze.
@DuchessOfCambridge I didn't have a csection but was horrified when she told me I had x amount of time to pee. I didn't feel like I had to, and had literally zero desire to try considering how badly everything was hurting down there. The first time I went was awful. But speaking of muscles you don't realize you use, I tripped over a box whole holding my son just a couple days after getting home and apparently when you trip, you tighten your vaginal muscles as well 🤷 I don't know, but I cried.
@eatinwatermelonseeds that sounds terrifying! Oh man I had such awful issues using the bathroom after since they moved all my intestines around. I would cry while clutching a folded up towel to my stomach to no avail. I almost gave myself a home enema out of desperation but a mom friend was like please try Miralax first hahahaha
@expandcontract - with my last pregnancy I had spotting after ultrasounds so it can definitely be normal! Did they measure your cervix while you were there? If it's nice and tight you'll be in good shape.
So twin pregnancy is going to kick my ass. I joined a di/di twin forum on Facebook to see what I've gotten myself into. These poor women. I'm one of them now. I'll look and feel full-term by 24 weeks. Some seem to be doing great but if this is anything like my last pregnancy I will not be able to function from 24 weeks on until birth. When I lay on my tummy I can feel the bulge in my lower abdomen and it's a bit uncomfortable. I'll be in maternity pants next week, no doubt. But the upside about being on the forum: everyone raves over how much they love their twins and no one has any regrets despite the pain and suffering through pregnancy so I'm getting more excited now cautiously so, though, because after I announced twins to some of my friends who did IVF, they told me they started with two as well but one vanished. This is 4 different accounts. So I'm nervous about the next ultrasound but I'm still optimistic... I just feel like they're both viable. They were both so healthy and strong at the last ultrasound (heart rates were 138 and 145) and they were both about the same size. I dunno though, anything can happen so I better emotionally prepare.
@wishiwaspreggo my cousin has twin boys who are about a year old now, and they are freaking adorable together. They just play and entertain each other constantly.
@k2k2tog thank you for checking on me! Yes, i did get rid of the fever. I wasnt a able to get my flu shot yet, though. The doctor wants to make sure im fever free for at least a few days in a row.
@wishiwaspreggo they probably did measure my cervix but they didn't tell me how much it was. Thankfully i did not spot today!
I forgot to take my double dose of diclectin last night and I am paying for it today. I have a daycare/preschool class coming in in about 10 minutes, so I have to find energy somewhere to sing some songs, do some finger plays and read a couple books with them WITHOUT vomiting all over them. So, I'm munching some super dry crackers in an attempt to get the nausea under control. This suuuucks.

@k2k2tog I hope you survive the day and feel okay.
Me: I am worried that my nausea seeems to be getting better. I hope everything is okay..
*later I barely make it to the bathroom to vomit. * This is only the second time I actually puked. I am the worst at it and usually just cough and heave. Now I feel gross and the day isn't even half over.
@lappymom2019 literally every time my nausea is relieved and I start to worry if the baby is okay, I throw up.
It's really funny because when I was getting my ultrasound I said "this baby is making me so sick" and right then the baby threw its little arm up like "heyo! That's me! I'm doing that!" 😂
@k2k2tog I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you make it through the day okay. ❤️
It turns out the medication my OB prescribed me for my nausea isn’t covered by my insurance unless I try Zofran first and it doesn’t work. Now I’m having to wait for her nurse to call me back so they can prescribes me zofran. It’s been like 3 days and they still haven’t called back 🙄 I thought calling would be quicker than using MyChart (an online tool used to email your doc) but I guess I was wrong!
New mommy to be! EDD: 05/27/19 hoping for a girl!!!
@fifthemperorofthesea I usually do both. The online tool is super helpful but if it's urgent, I'll follow up with a call. Obviously there's times when I just email (simple questions about can I/can't I eat or take something, still BF, etc.) or just call (like when I started bleeding on Tuesday which ended up being a SCH).
Anyone else having weird dreams? I woke up in the middle of the night to pee, and I was dreaming about wrestlers like stone cold and the undertaker trying to wrestle my little self. So weird.
@missy052819 I had a dream the other night that I stayed the night in my old high school and it was horribly haunted. I was protecting a friend I know battles depression so I'm trying to figure out how to message him without seeming weird. I just want to check on him. The last time I had a dream about him I saw him and asked how he was doing and finally got it out of him that he was really struggling.
@eatinwatermelonseeds I did. TW he reminds me of a friend of mine who killed himself years ago /TW and I've told him that and that I believe the similarity is that my friend was so funny and goofy and just awesome, but deep down he was hiding being horribly depressed. No one could tell. I told him that he is so funny and goofy and just fun to be around and I worry he's doing the same. He just looked at me and said "that's dead on." So we've been able to talk mostly candidly about it, but I catch him changing the subject and not answering questions directly, so I try to be gentle about it and not pry too much while letting him know I'm there for him.
I have a work trip Tues-Thurs of next week and I am starting to get really nervous for it. My nausea seems to be getting worse and it's making it hard to concentrate on stuff. I'm still not puking, but I feel like I can at any moment if I wanted to. Thankfully, I am not flying. I'll be in the car with 6 other people on a 2 hr drive to get to our destination and I already asked for shotgun so I won't get carsick. I have to present during the trip and also be very active and vocal in all day meetings so it's a little nerve wracking now that I am feeling so crappy!

@zuuls_mom - I feel for you. I had a work trip a few weeks ago and it was rough. Things that helped: packing snack food that I knew sat well and would be easy to grab during meetings, ginger chews, and going back to the hotel after meetings instead of social events with the crew. I also had one colleague that I told beforehand and she helped to cover for me because I was really sick at that point. Good luck and fingers crossed that your symptoms cooperate while you’re traveling!
I think baby wants me to be vegan. Eggs make me vomit. The thought or smell of meat makes me sick. And lately dairy has not been agreeing with me. This is very interesting.
Thank you @koala_in_the_rain! Thankfully, everyone I am going on the trip with knows I am pregnant so they'll be really understanding. There will even be another prego pal with me! I'll have to try to stick out the social events though because this is mostly meant to be a team building trip. I may duck out of the bar crawl though depending on how I feel.

@brie_and_almonds, late to the party, but you are a beast! Also, that compact cath is amazing, sounds life-changing. And I hope eventually your broken bladder recovers. @expandcontract, sorry that you haven’t been feeling well! @k2k2tog, ugh! Nausea and vomiting are the worst! I’ve resorted to “eating thru my feelings”...basically, anytime I feel queasy, I stuff my face with carbs. It’s working great for any nausea, but probably not going great on the scale. Oh well, survival. @zuuls_mom, good luck on the work trip!
im still in fatigue mode. Alternating with hunger. It’s awesome. At least I’m not vomiting, it’s one thing I can be thankful. That and the fact there’s an actual baby there now.
I'm so obviously hormonal, it sucks. I just want to cry constantly. I almost burst into tears in front of my students multiple times today. And the only reasons were because I was tired or I was devastated that I wasn't taking a nap. And my oldest won't stop touching me or hanging on me (literally, my class was combined with hers today and she was in my lap or hanging on my arm all day and wouldn't stop, no matter how much I told her mommy needed some space). And I'm lowgrade nauseas constantly, even eating doesn't help. Plus for the first time in a pregnancy I want something to eat that days later (or sometimes even just a few minutes later) sounds awful. Seriously just feeling the TGIF right now....
The second I got home from being away for a couple days I got a cold and feel miserable 😩. But it is nice to have a break from the super sense of smell!
My nausea this pregnancy is so weird. I’m fine in the morning but get more and more nauseous as the day goes on to the point where I can hardly function by dinnertime. But I haven’t thrown up (due to pregnancy) yet and with DS I did once a week. More nausea, less vomiting. Bizarre. And annoying.
@DuchessOfCambridge I, too, have more nausea and less vomiting this pregnancy. However, mine is the worst right when i wake up and in the late afternoon and onwards.
This fatigue is really getting to me! I am so exhausted but can’t sleep at night. All it’s doing is resulting in a hormonal, cranky human. I feel so bad for DH.
My boobs have hurt so much since before I got my BFP and as of this morning they just stopped hurting all together. Also not as nauseated. Hoping it’s just because I’m nearing 12 weeks!

@zuuls_mom my nausea is pretty much done now, thank goodness, but my boobs have only gotten worse. They didn’t start hurting though until I was close to 7 weeks. I mean hoping since I’m also approaching 12 weeks soon that my boob tenderness goes away soon! It’s miserable! I can barely accept hugs at this point!
@mrskoz428 Im sorry, my memory is terrible.... are you a FTM? My boobs hurt like hell when I was pregnant with DD. In fact, it was my very first symptom which prompted me to POAS. But this time, I have no pain in my boobs whatsoever. Some one mentioned to me that after the first time they don't hurt because they've already been stretched out. I don't know how true that is. Any other STM+ not have any boob pain?
@expandcontract mine still hurt so bad this time around. I do feel like they're getting better whereas last time I remember being 20 weeks in excruciating pain still.
@expandcontract This is #3 for me, and they have hurt progressively less each time. With my 2nd and this pregnancy, I was still nursing the older sibling when I became pregnant, so idk if that has something to do with it or not.
@expandcontract this is my third. I actually don’t remember my boobs hurting at all with my last pregnancy. They definitely did this time and occasionally still do, but not in an unbearable way. But I don’t really remember that symptom with my first either, so I think it’s just not really a big symptom for me.

So far, basically it sounds like that person doesn't know what she's talking about. 😋
@expandcontract I haven’t had the boob pain either this time; I had weaned my son about a month before getting pregnant. I think it’s because all the pathways are already there for making milk, not because they are already stretched out (which I guess they are too. 😂)
@expandcontract maybe if mine had gone back to normal size and then the pregnancy made them larger again that might be true? But I am hitting new records over here lol. They started DD and my poor bra is working so hard. They were B's the first time around.
@expandcontract I feel like this pregnancy has been more symptomatic than my first with everything. Boobs are way more sensitive, more emotional/moody, little more nauseous, more tired, etc. 🤷🏼♀️ I know it is 0 to do with it because every pregnancy is different, but I guess this is why I feel like this has to be a girl. So very different than my pregnancy with DS.
Re: Symptoms - w/o Oct 15
@expandcontract I hope all is better for you this morning. Did you manage to shake the fever?
