Re: Weekly Randoms (10/8-10/12)

  • Does anyone have google chrome cast or anything like that? We also don't have cable... just Netflix. But SO wants some sports - so I was thinking about getting a sports package of some sort of media streaming device.

  • @mommin135 we have a chrome cast which works great with some things (netflix) and not great with others (amazon prime). I love it when it works well but wish it was more universally useful. We don’t have cable and we watch occasional sports things on local channels but I’m not sure what type of sports package would work best with it.
  • @BourbonBiscuits just read through that thread. WOW that was epic! Definitely makes me feel even more cautious about oversharing on the internet. Luckily everyone seems pretty genuine on here. And I think we have some people with good BS detectors on here to help call things out too. But man, that was crazy!
  • I JUST realized we have Whole Foods delivery/Prime Now/whatever the f they call it! Anyone use this? If it’s as good as it sounds I will love this come February
  • @megpants209- Instacart was my saving grace basically the first three months of my son's life!  Grocery online shopping delivered within two hours for the win.

GOT HER! You have to kind of read between the lines since a bunch have deleted/been removed. But it’s a jaw dropper for sure.
I forgot about this!! How do people catfish a bmb and feel okay about it??

  • @kayjay44 what can you get delivered from Costco? And why do I suddenly feel like I’m 80 years old just discovering this thing called the internet?!
  • I can’t stand the thought of someone else picking out my produce, so I can never do online grocery shopping  :D
  • @cmjenkies Ha, I get all my produce delivered! I use a service called Imperfect Produce, so you get ugly fruit and veggies for cheap once a week or every other week. Besides, someone will have touched the produce to get it in to the grocery store anyway :p

  • @cmjenkies haha agreed, my bananas have to be the right color green when I buy them!
  • @cmjenkies That makes sense. Sometimes I do get fruit that's not ripe enough in my deliveries, which is annoying.

I hate it when stores have people bagging your groceries, they somehow have no idea what they're doing even though it's their job. In Europe, everyone bags their own groceries and it works out much better for everyone. I've had to stop people from putting fresh tomatoes with frozen peas, how dense can you be?!

  • I love Imperfect Produce!
  • @grebretso I also organize all of my grocery items as I put them on the conveyer so produce is together, dairy, cans, meats, fresh/frozen, etc.. that way it USUALLY gets bagged the way I want.

@thechickendance see my bananas can have zero green. They have to be full yellow but not covered in brown spots yet. Unripe bananas are the actual worst.
  • @cmjenkies I do too, but they always put things aside to merge it with other items further down the line, almost always fresh fruit and veg with frozen goods which drives me nuts. Do they think it helps to keep the produce cool or something..? Oh well, I usually switch everything around once I've paid anyway, so no damage is done.

  • @grebretso this is why I exclusively use the self check out. The only time someone else bags my groceries is at Trader Joe’s and even then I jump in and bag them before they can do it
  • @grebretso the local grocery chain that I use has to bag the items immediately after scanning, there’s nowhere to set them aside. The last lady who did my stuff told me how much she loved my organization, which made me laugh because most people think it makes me low key neurotic. It’s the only area of my life that has organization as it is haha
  • @BourbonBiscuits I use self checkout when I buy only a little, but H and I do one giant shopping trip every other week and there's just too much stuff to not get help from another person, ha. Maybe one day we'll dare to!

@cmjenkies That sounds like a good system! One time I went shopping at 6am before work, and the store didn't have enough employees present, so I got to bag it myself. The cashier was like "are you on our payroll, and if not, do you want to be?" lol.

  • @grebretso ahh that makes sense. We go once weekly but we go to like 3 different stores (produce at a local place, household stuff at another, real food at TJs)
  • @cmjenkies- That's actually why I stopped using it after I felt I had regained life equilibrium when DS was a few months old: issues with things not as I would have picked or them substituting things when the store didn't have it (supposedly). It was a life saver though in the early months!
  • Just want to say @kayjay44 you're gorgeous  <3
