Re: Sep 2018 FET

  • @northbeach3 I never did herbs once I started the IVF process.  I would just research before continuing.  I’m sure they’re fine but better to be sure.

My major first symptoms were extremely sore boobs and fatigue. Around 6 weeks, I started to have periodic nausea throughout the day (but with periods of relief when I could eat). I never vomited though -- although i wouldn't have minded if that gave me relief! The nausea peaked around 8-10 weeks and then was mostly gone by 12-14 weeks. Heartburn was extreme and so was my acid reflux, both of which got very pronounced towards the end of pregnancy. No cramps to speak of, occasional sharp round ligament pains during the 2nd trimester.

I also spotted throughout the 1st trimester and I was using PIO, not suppositories. No SCH or anything -- the doctor just said IVF pregnancies spot more often since all of the meds are designed to really plump up the lining and increase blood flow. It was occasionally pink, more often just brown, only once or twice red. By 12 weeks, the spotting was beginning to stop and I didn't have any in 2nd or 3rd tri. I did have increased discharge in that area though -- and with the...uh...lack of pelvic floor control, I began to really like using pads to keep everything dry. I made the horrible mistake once of going out without a pad and then -sneeze-....yeah....Something I don't miss!

  • Nice to see wide spectrum of symptoms list.

@justharrison good luck with your ultrasound tomorrow. All the best for your graduation.

I hoping everything will be as it is supposed to be tomorrow. I am probably one of the crazy people who are still worried after seeing heart beat. I’ll also seek clarification on the bug my MIL put in my head last week.
  • @bkatp I don't think it's crazy at all! Seeing a heartbeat is good, but IF people know that's only one hurdle in many and because we know, we can't relax.
Hell, I'm still not 100% relaxed and I'm half way through already.
IF screws you good, it messes with your brain and emotions and leaves you permanently anxious, on some level or another.
So don't be hard on yourself, it's ok to feel worried and anxious, as long as you don't let that control everything you do and ruin your day.
And besides, we're here for you so let it all out so you can feel better after  <3
  • Thanks @more14 and @mbradfo2 for sharing your symptoms, that's helpful to know it's all normal. And what a range there is!

@bkatp and @justharrison thinking of you at your ultrasound today.

I've gotten in the habit of hitting the Starbucks drivethrough for a blueberry scone in the morning and then come back home (I work from a home office which I'm REALLY appreciating at the moment) and make some herbal tea to sip with it. I eat half of it immediately and the other part later since I read that eating more small meals is better than 3 bigger ones. Trying here! One day at a time right?
  • @mbradfo2 thanks for sharing about the spotting, that's a good point of reference. i'm just hoping i can make it to next wednesday with minimal spotting... and even then, i'm nervous as hell.  my brain keeps calling it "judgment day" and even if we do see a heartbeat, i'll still be worried because i had a MMC between my two U/S appointments at 8w3d.  i'm taking each appointment as another hurdle crossed... the waiting/anxiety continues.

afm, despite my fitbit saying i got 8 hours of sleep, i'm feeling particularly exhausted today and can't focus. i may be experiencing nausea -- nothing sounds appetizing but i think i'm hungry. since i didn't teach yesterday, i was able to run some errands and relax, but i have a class this afternoon and am trying to get some things done before then... i'm ready for the weekend so I can sleep all day! will also help with passing the time :)

will be checking in for u/s updates @justharrison and @bkatp!

  • Thank you for your words @more14 and for making me feel normal.
  • @bkatp
    @northbeach3
I know how you guys feel -- IF really saps the joy out of this time, doesn't it?  I convinced myself before every scan that it would be the worst news -- first scan, I was expecting to see nothing or no heartbeat -- and once we got the heartbeat, I expected to hear that it had stopped at every appointment (even when I switched over to my regular OB). MMC are the worst since you have no idea anything is going wrong....I was so excited when I got my first BFP (my time! finally!) and to have it turn into a MMC without any symptoms of something going wrong was absolutely devastating.

I think I usually had one or two hours of sheer excitement after each good appointment -- which quickly faded into anxiety.  My husband profited from the excitement though; after our first scan, we went out to lunch right afterwards and shopping and I let him buy a Nintendo Switch with a bunch of games haha

This attitude continued up until baby arrived so I can't promise it will go away ever, but you will survive it!

  • @bkatp looks beautiful and I'm so relieved to hear everything's normal! One more hurdle down right?
@northbeach3 I am with you on the anxiety in waiting until the ultrasound. I am worried to have this taken away from me but am trying to push those thoughts out of my head. I'm glad you can rest on the weekend at least. I am thinking about cutting back my hours from 40 to 30 for the next few weeks to allow myself to do an afternoon nap. It's short term, just to get me through this part.

@mbradfo2 yes I feel exactly like you explained. I dunno how long will that feeling last. Today I could hear the heartbeat. My husband is yet to hear hopefully he can hear in our next appointment.

@Momifbysea definitely one hurdle passed and bug from head is removed. I am at so much peace knowing the fact that my sac is normal shaped and sized. I might Have my next scan with you next Thursday.

  • @bkatp yay!

Those wih anxiety... I get it and relate.  I feel exactly how @mbradfo2 said, and I’ve had so many ultrasounds and appointments because I actually have had some concerns along the way.  Every appointment I fear the worst and no matter how reassuring it is, it turns to anxiety over fearing the worst again. The MFM who did my echo said to try to enjoy the blessing instead of always being focused on the “what if” something happens next week, next month, etc.  and I’m really trying!

    ***TW and TMI***

well, i just started spotting again, this time bright red.  second time to the bathroom, noticed a big red clot. like bigger than a quarter... but i didn't feel it pass nor have i had any intense cramping.

anyway, we have those automatic flush toilets and i was so worried the toilet would flush before i could inspect. knowing i kept ziploc bags in my office, i stuck my hand in and grabbed it and wrapped it in TP.  I left a message with my RE's nurse and she said she'd pass the info on. She thinks that since i'm a little further along, the RE may bring me in for a scan (likely tomorrow am).  I sure hope so.  I have no idea if this little clot has meaning, but i just feel like i need any info i can get.  sorry if this was way TMI.  damn this roller coaster.

@northbeach3 sorry hear about spotting again. May it is the suppositories? That came out as clot. I really hope you get answers soon so you don’t have to go through this roller coaster. We are hear for u
  • @northbeach3 Praying you don't have any MS! I was the opposite of @more14. Besides sore boobs and being tired...I never had MS. Only thing I've battled is heartburn, crazy dreams and always peeing! I'm sure your dizzy spell was due to lack of food. • Hi ladies, had some of the worst sleep last night due to anxiety. Spotting has slowed.

Sad for sure but trying to take it day by day. Since I’m only 6+2 today, we may not see FP or FHR so preparing for more ambiguous news and more waiting. I did google examples of early miscarriage and I think I only passed blood clots although one was pretty big and I didn’t try to open in. Thanks for all your prayers. Will update when I can

@northbeach3 my situation was a little different since I'd taken meds to soften my cervix before my D&C, but, when I bled it was A LOT and I also had clots bigger than a golf ball.  None of it was the baby and everything was intact and fine despite that.

YES @northbeach3!!  I’m not sure if your acupuncturist does moxa, But if they do you should tell them about the SCH and ask for it.   But if they do you should tell them about the SCH and ask for it.  Mine went away quickly once she started doing it (mine were smallish). She had me do it at home too.  Big hugs to you!!
