My UO - stolen from a mom in my Aug 17 BMB - I don't get the hype over Hocus Pocus. I never enjoyed it and avoid watching it like the plague.
Wtf? Hocus pocus is great! I grew up with the vhs as a small child. i watched it year round. Its been super popular lately and with tons of merch because the film turned 25 years old recently.

@SpaceBurger I eat it sometimes, and I crave it sometimes. I just can't tolerate a lot because it's too sweet. And it's not really my go-to sweet treat. Especially chocolate cake with chocolate frosting 🤢
@RoseShadow873 I agree on This is Us! I really don't like feeling feelings, and things are already sad in the real world exactly as you said, so I have zero interest in it as well.
On the photo thing, I think for special events they're fine - but when it's complete overkill (like millions of posts with the same shots all over the social media) or photos all the time, that's a little much. I will say we had maternity photos and newborn photos taken, and to us it was really special. Those don't really go up on social media, a few have but most haven't. Also, I hate the way I look in photos, but those? I love them. Not so fond of our wedding and engagement photos, so that's kind of a bummer. I think it's my own fault though, went for a photographer who was more "edgy" with photos rather than the traditional Pinterest-style romantic photos.
DD born PPROM preemie at 36 weeks on 10/1/17 after over a year TI, then 3 failed IUIs, and finally a successful IVF FET.
Due with #2 5/2/19 after HIO once in my FW, because apparently that's how life works now. Team Blue!
White chocolate is just lies. It isn't chocolate, it can't be without cocoa. For that reason, and that it's sickeningly sweet, I hate it. I was a barista at Starbucks when we were engaged, and the syrup for white chocolate mochas made me want to gag.
Since we’re on foods we don’t like, I hate pickles. My husband and son will eat them out of the jar. Now that I’m pregnant, the mere smell of them makes me gag. 🤢
I agree about those bows on girls. It's so over the top when it's the size of their head. Does it really matter if people think she may be a boy? She doesn't know😂
And we've never gotten professional photos but it may be cool to do as long as they're not earth forest mother in tulle theme🧚♀️
@eatinwatermelonseeds wait chocolate is too sweet? You aren't eating the good stuff, then? Dark chocolate all the way. Cocoa powder is not sweet, people just like sugar with it to make it palatable but some good dark chocolate is heaven (especially paired with wine). If you just don't like chocolate, that's a good UO.
I love me some professional photos! We got the cutest photo shoot done of a smash cake with our first and I'm totally doing it again with the next one. DS was wearing these little leggings and his legs were so fat they kept rolling down. He had a matching onesie and beanie and it was so f*cking cute.
We also paid a photographer to do in-room pictures at the hospital after DS was born. Zero regrets. AWing his picture in the spoiler.
White chocolate isn't my favorite, but I think it gets too much hate. It has its place in the world of chocolate. It can be very good combined with dark chocolate or when mixed with things such as mini M&Ms. And I made a dark chocolate cake with white chocolate buttercream and that was delicious!
@msb615 we go through a ton of pickles in our house. My MIL makes homemade ones (like 80-100 jars every summer) and gives them to all the family. I usually love them, but as soon as I read your post I gagged at the thought so I think that is another one to add to my aversion list 🤢
White chocolate has no place in my world, I actively avoid it. @msb615 same on the pickles 🤢 I actually tried one last pregnancy because I was like “aren’t I supposed to like these now?” Nope.
@eatinwatermelonseeds I love chocolate but agree it can be too sweet. My favorite cookies are basically chocolate chip shortbread cookies that I make with half sugar. They melt in your mouth and the sweetness is really just from the chocolate 👌
Earlier this week I ordered a tub of pickles from Jimmy Johns to be delivered to me at work. No sandwich. Just the pickles. The delivery boy definitely gave me the side eye to which I replied "I'm pregnant."
I like the bows on baby girls but I realize they are uncomfortable for them. So I would only put it on my daughter for pictures and immediately remove them. I also had an issue because for whatever reason everyone thought my daughter was a boy when she was an infant. This is despite me dressing her in the girliest of clothes. I actually went to a wedding with her when she was only 4 months. She was in a dress but every person who saw her thought she was a boy. I got pissed and busted out that bow real fast and put it on her for the night but only after making sure to stretch it out as much as possible.
My UO is that I HATE shopping for clothes. It's so stressful for me.
My 2yo had so much hair when she was born, we had to use bows/headbands to keep it out of her eyes by the time she was about a month old. (That's my crazy mom thing- her hair has to be out of her face!)
I love our professional photos, they are the only decent ones of me. Whenever I ask my husband to take a picture of me, he INSISTS on holding the phone at waist height, so I am 97% chin. Not a good look.
Love chocolate, especially super dark. I've never eaten a pickle, because why would I eat something that smells like that?
My UO - McDonald's has the best fries, Burger King has the best chicken sandwich (the long one), and Wendy's has the best cheeseburger. Boom.
@liliumstargazer13 can't speak to the chicken sandwich but I don't think the fries are an unpopular opinion. I wish they had an ultra size .. like a large movie theater popcorn, but with McDonald's French fries. Extra salt. That's what I think my heaven will be 😂
I have another UO and this is a big one for me.... I get so sick of people that are all gluten-free, soy-free, GMO-free. I think unless you have a true allergy don't talk to me about how "free" you are. I really don't care. And another one.....i HATE when people randomly give the details of their recipe to me. Like if I go to my aunt's house and i compliment on something she made, she'll sit there and give me the whole damn ingredients and methods to how she cooked it. Like seriously, I'm really not going to go home and try to duplicate this.
OOH! I've finally got a UO now that it's Friday and not Thursday!
American Thanksgiving is at the WRONG time of the year. By the end of November, all the leaves have fallen and everything is yucky and harvest is all done. There might even already be snow! Beginning of October is perfect, right in the middle of apple picking season.
(This UO brought to you by Canadian Thanksgiving and all the apple pie I'm going to eat this weekend.)

I wanted to love this bc white chocolate hate, but then you threw pickles under the bus, so I had to rescind.

I agree but then disagree. Haha. For like 99% of the country this is probably true. And I would love more time between Thanksgiving and Christmas to have decorations up. But where I live it doesn’t even seem like fall till the end of Nov. Last year at Thanksgiving it was unseasonably hot and we had a 90 degree day and ate outside!

My UO is that I think people have gone so over the top with the number of "baby consultants" they hire. I am the only one of my friends that never even thought to get a baby/night nurse or post-partum doula. I just feel like those early days are meant to be hard and it's about the memories you make with your partner and going through it together. I don't want a nurse giving my baby her first bath. I want to nervously do it with my husband, etc. Also-- "sleep consultants", "baby-proofers" etc. It's gotten out of control! I can't say anything to my IRL friends, so I'm venting here. The only expert I can understand is a lactation consultant. I only used the one that was there in the hospital, but if I was having major trouble, I would hire one. But, I had a woman complain to me at a birthday party the other day that her 15 month old doesn't walk yet, so she's worried about when her second baby comes along (was supposed to be the next week) she would have trouble. So, I suggested a "mother's helper" for a few hours a day and she informed me that her 15 month old has a nanny (ok, normal) ... but she's also getting a "live-in" so that should help. So, two nannies and you're still "worried". WTF.

LOL, move to the midwest, we don't have any of that stuff here.
@sleepy33 I grew up in a very typical, middle-class way and it had never even crossed my mind to get a night-nurse. In fact, I didn't even know it was a "thing" until my friends started having babies. Now, it's become my normal all around me and I feel so different.
@k2k2tog depending on where you are in the US, there's still some color on the trees and there's rarely snow (I grew up in southern NH). That time of year further north, I'm sure it would be crappy. And now I'm over here in my perpetual summer of California (with some rain in Jan/Feb/March if we aren't in a drought).

I agree with about 1/2 of your UOs but chocolate is life so 🤷🏻♀️
My UO for today is I hate cats. I don't understand the internets obsession with them.
