I have a growth scan tomorrow with my MFM and then a regular OB appointment (with a repeat glucose test) on Friday. High risk is no joke. Two docs is a pain.
First appointment with potential family doctor today. I didn't think we'd find one, but here we are. Baby related appointment with midwife is next week already. Has it really been a month already? Wow.
I go in for labs first thing tomorrow morning. We'll do glucose as well as some baseline labs for pre-e. And I believe a CBC because my OB mentioned that we'd be able to check my iron since the prenatal I found that is finally not making me sick doesn't have any iron in it.
But assuming all is well there, that's actually my only October appointment! No check-ups for me until November! It feels so weird.
Me: 30 DH: 32 ~~ TTC #1: Sep 2015 ~~ BFP: Mar 2016 ~~ Daughter: Nov 2016 TTC #2: April 2018 ~~ BFP: May 2018 ~~ EDD: January 2019
I have an OB appt on Wednesday. Just a normal check up and he will give me the paper work for the glucose test. I assume after that it is every two week appointments. So crazy!
Apparently my appointments were today not tomorrow so now I have to reschedule. Dang it. Seeing the OB tomorrow still but have to wait for the U/S scheduler to call.
Had my 26w appt today. All is well and baby boy is an " over achiever" and is head down already! Got the paperwork for glucose test and the hospital will call me to schedule the rhogam shot. Next appt right before Halloween and then every 2w after that.
Retook my glucose test today (not sure why my doctor had me take it this early since I'm only around 23 weeks, and I originally took it 2 weeks ago). I failed the first time by 1 point and they wanted me to go back for the 3 hour test...Asked them if I could possibly redo the 1 hour test because I ate a muffin the day of the test last time, and they okayed it.
So today I just ate some eggs, waited a couple hours, and went in for the test again. Hoping I pass this time because I really dont want to do the 3 hour test or have GD.
My OB sent me a message yesterday to confirm that I passed my 3 hour GTT with flying colors.
I have a 27 week appointment on the 9th with my OB and then two appointments on the 30th - the first is my 30 week appointment with my OB (I can’t believe I’m at every two weeks already) and then I have a scan with the MFM to make sure baby girl is growing appropriately.
Me: 28 DH: 26 Married: November 2015 TTC#1: January 2016 BFP #1: 5/02/16 - MC: 5/27/16 BFP #2: 10/06/16: 6 - EDD: 06/20/17 DD Born 06/23/17 TFAS: April 2018 BFP #3: 03/21/18 - CP BFP #4: 04/23/18 - EDD 01/04/19
Went to another detailed scan yesterday and got some good updates - cervix is long and closed. Baby is 1 lb 8 oz @ 56% for weight measuring on track. I’m hoping this continues. I see my regular OBGYN this Friday for 24 wk appt.
Is this appt where we drink the sugary stuff? I forget.
Today was sort of chaotic and uneventful at the same time. I saw an OB in the practice that I haven't met yet, she was running like a half an hour behind and when she realized it, it sort of sent her into a tizzy. We listened to baby and as she was looking through my chart she realized my regular OB wanted a PAP b/c of my history with LEEPs/pre-cancerous cells so she rushed out so I could undress and did my PAP quick. She brought me the glucola and instructions for when/how to do my GTT and then left. So.....I didn't even get to ask her anything. Kind of annoyed. I have my follow up A/S tomorrow and hopefully LG cooperates this time. Then my next appointment is on Halloween for my GTT/routine OB.
@AliKay20 it kind of depends. I think some places do have you drink it and they draw blood there, but mine sends you to the lab, so it's a separate thing from your appointment.
Speaking of, I got my results on Tuesday night, and it does look like I passed. Yay!

I have another appointment today. I have to remember to write down some of my questions before I go. Like I had a hernia repair a couple of years ago because my pregnancy with DS caused one because of diastasis recti. Thanks kid. What are the chances that's going to fail now that I'm pregnant again and getting bigger? Or my MFM wants to induce at 39w. Are they on board? Or are they willing to fill out the paperwork for FMLA and STD saying I need 8w for recovery instead of just 6 so I can actually have enough time with this baby before going back to work?
Well, anatomy scan #2 was semi successful. LG proved once again that she is stubborn and camera shy. We finally got to see her face but still can't see her heart. We know it's there and she has one but they want to see the chambers/ventricles/etc. The nurse said she gets one more ultrasound and if we still can't see it we'll be sent to Maternal Fetal Medicine for a fetal echocardiogram. She's still hanging out breech just like her brother did. Hopefully the third time is a charm in a couple weeks.
Not necessarily a medical appointment but very pregnancy-related, I went to my first ever (arguably long overdue) therapist appointment today to address my heightened anxiety that has popped up during pregnancy. My new therapist specializes in perinatal anxiety, allows you to bring your baby with you once he's born, and is also a postpartum doula and lactation specialist so I feel like I'm in great hands! Obviously everything's not going to be solved in one week but I feel good knowing that I'm taking steps to have a healthy pregnancy both physically and emotionally and hopefully mitigating the risk of an eventual panic-induced freakout which is what usually happens.
Had my follow up a/s today to check the spine, she was being stubborn again but after some juice she moved so the tech was able to see what she needed to see. Got results back already and everything seems good. Next appointment is on the 18th for my glucose test, tdap shot, and just normal appointment. I think shortly after that starts my 2 week appointments, crazy.
So glad that everyone's appointments are going well so far.
Mine are really picking up now- THREE this week alone (routine prenatal, repeat A/S, then an ultrasound 'class' for techs and med students to practice on tomorrow). In a couple weeks is the GTT, then appointments every 2 weeks. We're also doing the first meeting with the doula next weekend, which I'm excited for
I need to schedule an appt with the prenatal counselor also- I cancelled our last meeting due to work crap. I've been feeling pretty anxious though and also having body image issues now that baby and the bump are growing a lot. I feel like everyone around me is making comments about my body and I hate it. Except my husband...bless him.
I met my new OB today and I liked him. I’m overdue for my glucose test so I will go to the lab next week. My former OB ordered one on my last appointment but I didn’t know if my new OB would order one so I waited. He said to go ahead and use my old order because his office will be able to see it. He even made me raise my right hand and promise to get it done lol. My next appointment is in two weeks.
I had my 2-hour glucose test on Fri and passed! But blood levels indicate I have slightly low iron. I am not surprised being that I still really am not that into meat, especially red meat. I'm also taking a gummy prenatal which has no iron in it. So it's time for an iron supplement for me! My midwife recommended Floradix, which is a plant-based iron supplement and is supposed to not cause stomach/constipation issues. We'll see.
Kudos to everyone who passed the glucose tests and GL to everyone who is taking or retaking it!
@ladystout08 frustrating when they're not in the optimal positions for sonos. Mine was like that and we had to go back a second time for a bunch of shots they couldn't get the first time. FX that she moves into better position for you for the upcoming sono!
@merostomata we hired a doula too and I'm so excited! I love her! I've been getting a lot of bump/size related comments too and I agree, it's making me feel self conscious. I know people are coming from a good place but it doesn't feel that way. I've politely asked people to please not comment on my size, that this is how it's all supposed to be. Some have seemed a little miffed at that, but helloooo you're commenting on how ginormous I am so I'm a bit miffed at THAT! Hang in there girl, and I'm glad your husband is being supportive and not adding to the stress!
@kaf1788 WOW that's like a one-stop shop of post-partum awesomeness. Great find and I hope it continues to be helpful! You go girl!

Hey to all the ladies who have iron issues; there is this thing called an iron fish (it's literally fish shaped and made of iron) that you put in your boiling water or whatever for 10ish minutes while cooking. It doesn't affect the taste of your food - it just releases some iron to help with your iron intake. It's safe for pregnant women. My husband got me one prepre-pregnancy because I've always had low iron issues. I'm sure I can't give it all the credit for my current amazing iron levels, because my hubby has been feeding me really well these says, but I'm sure it has really helped a lot!
I had an appointment on Friday with the OB. They gave me the glucose drink (again) so I have it on hand to take next week.
I only forgot one of the questions I had written down. I felt rushed by the doc but when it came to the important stuff (I was having contractions Wednesday and Friday) he paid attention. He did a cervix check and I'm still long and closed so that's good but he did say if they don't go away to go to L&D. I didn't end up going and they went away later that night and no issues this weekend.
I'm really getting ready to be done. Just a few more months. Less than 3. I just have to keep telling myself that.
I had a ton of labs done Saturday including my 1 hr GTT and repeat labs for my iron deficiency. I'm happy to report that my infusions did their job and my ferritin and iron levels are totally normal now so no more worries about that, at least for the time being! I have my follow-up with the hematologist and then my MFM appointment this afternoon so keeping my fingers crossed that my GTT results were just as good!
@sparkymcgeee I'm glad your contractions subsided over the weekend

@rooonilwaazlib I'm not sure what the infusions were. I had 2 of them a week apart and actually had to go to the oncology center where they administer chemo to have them done.
Had to go in spur of the moment today to get checked out due to some prolonged dizziness and lightheadedness. At least I was able to see my OB, not go into L&D. It seems they’re going to be extra cautious with me because of my BP issues last time. So I went in and they did a BP check and urine test. Passed both with flying colors. Doc reviewed last weeks labs and confirmed that I don’t have diabetes or anemia either.
so we decided that I just have an atypical migraine that is giving me vertigo and standard pregnancy dizziness/lightheadedness upon standing or moving too rapidly. Not a fun combination at all and nothing they can do to make it better. but I’m glad that it is nothing serious!

@rooonilwaazlib I am on floradix. It is not bad at all. I have to admit I have slacked lately so I need to remember to do it everyday before my test next week. Hoping it will build back up in time that it won't show that I slacked
We're now scheduled for a fetal echo this Friday and then a follow up ultrasound next Friday. The MFM says the ventricles of her heart look abnormal, my OB says it just because you can't see the whole heart in the U/S but we'll do the echo anyway. Then GTT and follow up with the OB in two weeks. Woof.
Just doing the GTT right now. Down that nasty drink in 5 minutes! Yikes. Now I feel like I'm going to barf. I do not consume sweet things like that, so I think it just isn't sitting well at all.
My friend is a few weeks ahead of me and had to do the GTT two weeks ago. She told me she really liked the drink and would totally drink that like it was gatorade or something.
Oh my @sparkymcgeee , she is nuts! I like gatorade, but I've tried 2 of the glucose flavors and even though the orange flat Fanta isn't as bad as the flat sprite, they're both so gross! I've heard fruit punch is out there too, haven't had that one yet, but I bet it's terrible too. I'm glad your contractions went away! Let's hope it stays that way for several weeks yet.
