Re: October Symptoms

  • Random lower back pain that comes and goes. A bit of swelling if I walk or stand a bunch. Fatigue has set bedtime to around 8:00... But at least the moodiness has disappeared and been replaced with a calm contentment. Hubby will be grateful for this!
Other than that, pretty sure I've got it good!

I don't know what has happened to me in the last 3-4 days, but I am a zombie after lunch. I have zero motivation to do anything. I usually go home for lunch but I am so tired that I can't even bring myself to walk out to the parking lot and drive home so I'm just dealing with the hunger pangs. I'll probably regret this is a couple of hours but I am exhausted. I'm guessing a combo of hormones and not sleeping well at night. My iron is always normal-low so maybe that could be it too. OB will check it again on Thursday. I don't know how I'm going to get through 3 more months if all I want to do at this point already is lay on the couch.

  • Definitely more sore everyday. My pelvic bone feels like it's going to snap in half, which is a reminder that I need to actually wear my support belt. I'm always dead tired by the time ds takes a nap at noon so I've been taking advantage and napping while he does.

Oh and so emotional! I was never like this with ds, but everything makes me cry. It doesn't matter if it's something happy or sad, I just want to cry all the time. I was cuddling ds a couple days ago and I just started crying thinking about how much I love him and how he lets me cuddle him and I don't want him go grow up. And typing that out is making me cry all over again.
  • Add me to the list of constantly tired. Also I've noticed that I'm definitely getting more emotional-- and not just grumpy/bitchy but the tears are so much easier to come.

Lower back pain is pretty constant, but I can alleviate it a little by going to the pool. Constipation is still never ending. Morning sickness seems to mostly be triggered by smells and reflux these days. Reflux is improving with the switch from regular strength zantac to extra strength.

In another insomnia stretch right now, made worse by toddler sleep issues. Really hoping both go away soon and I start getting better sleep!

  • @kianarain I'm starting to notice some of the cramped lung issues with exercise as well, and I seem to remember this is about when it picked up when I was pregnant with DD. Stick with it as best as you can, and it actually will get better toward the end when baby shifts down!

  • @kianarain Same! Basically, I wake up now either when I have to pee, or when my searing hip pain has me cursing right out of a dead sleep. I'm going to try out a prenatal massage this week to see if I can get any relief.

  • @MrsDho11 good to know, and thanks for the encouragement! There was guy working out near me, and I'm pretty sure I was huffing & puffing so bad that he thought I'd keel over at any moment. He looked very concerned lol. I made sure to hold the bump when I was stretching afterward to keep the judgement low :grimace:

@tosh24 let me know how your massage goes! I've been wanting to splurge anyway, but hip pain might be the excuse I need!

A combo of Prilosec and tums has my reflux finally under control and the addition of iron seems to have helped with my drop dead tiredness. Don't get me wrong, bed time is still 830 as soon as DS is asleep but I can make it through a day at work now. My back is killing me and I need to go to the chiro and she's still sitting so low it feels like a bowling ball is sitting on my vag so yay. My hands and feet still swell all day, every day so a brace on my wrist at night (my left hand goes number) and compression socks are a daily must now. Pregnancy is glamorous y'all.

I have some kind of ingrown hair or boil type thing in the groin area. It's gross. At first I thought I was getting a new mole or skin tag but its definitely something inflamed. I googled and apparently it can be a pregnancy thing. Someone tell me I'm not alone in my disgustingness.

Also, I've been trying to convince DH to take pity on me and try to help groom my bikini line with his electric razor since I can't reach and am scared waxing will hurt more. I told him how some of the women on the board's husbands have helped them. He seemed amenable but then yesterday in the bath I showed him how hairy I am and he just nodded and said, "mmhmm, looks good." Should I just give in and be glad he will still have sex with a woolly mammoth?

  • @greenhillgirl lmfao wooly mammoth :joy: just do what makes you feel most comfortable! It makes me feel better to be semi-tamed, so I have been trying my best to keep up with things. I'll probably need some help from SO here shortly, stay tuned lol.

Also I have had the worst ingrown hairs basically my whole life... So painful and uncomfortable, especially down thurr. Have you tried a hot compress? I also do tea tree oil to dry it out; my research has shown that it's safe, but I'd recommend a quick search if you're feeling iffy.
  • My. Boobs. Are. Huge. They were big to begin with but now they are out of control. My bras somehow magically fit. That, or I’m in denial about how big they are.

I can feel the baby press down on my crotch and it creates a heavy feeling. Turning over in bed has now become an athletic event. Heartburn is still there but I manage it with Zantac. I can no longer see my toes. I’m still stinky “down there” but it’s been better the last few days.

  • I had a cold that turned into bronchitis lasting over 2 weeks. I had to wear a pad everyday, all day even at home. I didn't wear one at work one day early on and I may or may not have had pee run down my leg. Gross. I have alot of sciatic pain, and am also pretty sleepy. Generally it's not all too bad, my heartburn is intermittent for now so that's nice too
  • @greenhillgirl I've had a boil thing caused by inflamed/infected sweat glands near a hair follicle in the groin area for years. It comes and goes. Went to a dermatologist and she told me what it was because at first I thought it was a pimple, then an ingrown hair or a cyst or something. It would start out as a pea-sized lump and then would get bigger, and red, and painful. *TMI WARNING* Sometimes it would leak a clear fluid or liquid-y pus. Every now and then it would get infected and then look like a hole and I would have to get oral antibiotics for it. It's really common in areas where the skin rubs and you have more sweat glands like under the armpits and in the groin area. Mine was right along my underwear line and hurt so much! If it really bothers you, I'd get it checked out to confirm what it is, but if it's what I have, my dermatologist told me to keep the area clean with rubbing alcohol a few times a day, and then to boil a pin to sterilize it and lance the boil to let the liquid out. Clean it up again with rubbing alcohol and then put an antibiotic cream on it (she gave me a prescription for Fucidin). Then I put some gauze over it to keep my clothes from rubbing the area. If you take care of it before it gets infected, you reduce your chances of having to take an oral antibiotic. I used her method the last time it flared up and haven't had a recurrence for 6+ months, which is the longest I've gone in the last few years. Shaving can irritate the area and cause a flare up so be careful when you're grooming.

I am not sure this is a symptom but I kicked in the Blatter while I was peeing. That's a new one for me  :D
  • @greenhillgirl I definitely have the same problem, so many ingrown hairs since becoming pregnant. I get waxed on a regular basis and have never had this problem. I've also tried to talk my husband into helping as I can't see down there anymore! I started using these Bliss ingrown hair wipe things and I can't tell if its helping or not yet.
  • I've been having this awful pain in my lower back near my hips. After someone mentioned SI joint pain, I googled it and that's what I have. From what I read the only 'cure' is to no longer be pregnant. I'm really hoping someone has better luck with some sort of pain relief. It's spreading now to both sides. It is only getting worse.

And I'm in the exhausted club. Zero energy and motivation over here. I took a 2 hr nap yesterday and still slept for 9 hrs at night. Looking forward to bed time already.
  • I am also incredibly exhausted, and am feeling the first hints of a cold coming on as well.  I've tried telling my body that I already had my annual cold back in August, but that doesn't seem to have helped lol

  • I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in some symptoms!
Lower back pain, though mostly still just SI joint pain. Hopefully chiro will help eventually.

I wake up a few times a night to toss and turn, usually to pee once, but otherwise to just readjust.

Some days where I feel SUPER motivated to reorganize the house and prepare for baby, then others where I feel like doing NOTHING and I'm not motivated at all.

Super full/bloated feeling, so I'm not looking forward to when baby gets bigger.

I get really tired the second half of the day, usually around 4pm onward. I've been drinking less coffee in the morning so I can have a tea in the afternoon and this sort of helps.

  • @molosmiles do you see a chiropractor? This helped me a ton last time, and so far this time I've been going to the chiropractor and I've been about 3 or 4 times and I'm now seeing some relief. My pelvis was misaligned, causing the SI joint to rub funny and cause pain. It's true that hormones cause our joints to sometimes move more loosely causing pain, but a chiropractor can help keep things in line so they aren't rubbing in a way that's painful. For me, last time once I delivered the lower back pain/SI joint pain went away pretty quick and I didn't need to keep going. Then it started back up about a month ago.

  • Add me to the extreme tiredness even after a decent amount of sleep. I felt like I got hit by a bus yet again today. I thought the first tri exhaustion was over. It totally came back. I could barely keep my eyes open today at work.

Also, my appetite got bigger. I’m hangry all the time. Again, I thought I was doing better after hitting second tri but nope. Bring me all the food all the time!!! Except foods that bring me heartburn. That still exists unfortunately.
  • @sweetyjenj I haven't seen a chiropractor. This is my third pregnancy and first time dealing with this pain, it's starting to hurt with every step I take. I guess I really need to look into it. I'm just worried about the cost. I already have too many medical bills. But I can't do this for 3 more months!
  • @molosmiles hopping on the call your chiropractor train -- I had SI pain starting early on, and it has helped me sooooo much!

    Andrea -- FTM at 39!

  • @molosmiles I had really, really bad SI joint pain with DS. I got stuck one day in an aisle at Michael's for 20 minutes (no word of a lie) because the joint locked up and every time I tried to move my left leg the pain was unbearable. I found that a combination of massage and chiropractic helped, especially when the massage was done right before the adjustment. I went every week with DS but I can't afford that right now (I've used up my benefits for the year already this time) so I am going every other week with a massage only when I get really bad. I plan to bump it up to weekly just before delivery (the adjustments really help to align your pelvis properly for an easier labour). A low cost alternative is to do pelvic exercises on a fitness ball. I did these every day with DS as well and my back pain was almost non-existent between my exercises and chiro. You can look up the exercises on YouTube or Google. I did circles, figure 8's and bounces on the ball, and then I also did cat/cow poses on the floor as well as butterfly pose. The exercises felt so good!

  • Thanks ladies! I will call the chiropractor and look up the exercises. Not sure I can spring the massages as much as I would love to! My SO has gone out on his own (he's a mechanic) and while the work has been steady the money comes in whenever it comes in which makes me really sketchy about spending anything extra.
  • @molosmiles I have always found swimming (or floating If you don’t like swimming) and support belts to help.

  • +1 to being exhausted. I've been sleeping 10 hours a night (plus peeing 3-4 times during that time period), and I'm still tired. I have seen 4 different doctors this pregnancy and finally the midwife I saw yesterday at least  listened to me and ordered a thyroid panel. It probably is nothing, but it's nice to have someone actually listen. Other than the exhaustion, I'm doing pretty well. Hips hurt here and there, but nothing crazy, and I have mild heartburn some nights. I'm very thankful for how well I feel overall.
  • @molosmiles Definitely shop around for chiropractors. We have one here in my town who doesnt take insurance; he takes a flat fee of $20 for every patient. He is also one of the less pushy chiros I've seen. I started seeing one last pregnancy who wanted me to come in like 3 times a week, but this other chiro I go to now will do one adjustment and tell you to call and make another appointment only if you still don't feel amazing. I saw him once around 16 weeks for horrible headaches, he did one adjustment, and I have felt amazing for the past 7 weeks. Sometimes it only takes a couple adjustments to feel so much better.
  • Tend skin is a must! Especially of you wax. Trust me you need it
  • On the note of Chriopractors, mine always does a 10-15 minute massage before an adjustment. They state that the muscles need to be relaxed to be able to get a more effective adjustment which makes sense.

+1 for tired. I had so much energy in my first tri and now I am exhausted. I also had no motivation at work today, but I am kind of waiting for approval of menus before I can start on my next project so I have been working on the side projects I have put off.
  • This week the insomnia has hit, HARD!  I've been lucky to get 3 hrs of sleep a night so I took 2 dicleagis pills last night hoping for a better night.  I finally got about 7 hrs of sleep but I still feel like I meed more. And I also still woke up at 3:30am...
  • ugggggghhhh you guys. So nausea/vom/diarrhea is back -- starting up the diglecis routine again. Lost some weight again -- back to a total 5lbs :/ Shoulders/back hurts from tension of sleeping? Stressful. Ugh.

    Andrea -- FTM at 39!

  • @wkuandrea ugh! That sounds horrid, I’m sorry you’re having to deal with it again!

@sweetyj I’m with you on constantly feeling like there is no room left in my stomach. And the fact that you could feel his little foot pushing back made me smile!

Add me to team perpetually exaughsted.  Also, apparently breathing has become an issue for me lately. Seriously, I get winded just getting up for a glass of water. I had my first physio appointment today for my pubic symphsis pain and was told that my right sciatic joint has seized and that could be making the pubic symphsis pain worse. So off I go to complete a bunch a stretches and ice my crotch...
  • @wkuandrea Ugh,I am so sorry :( That sounds awful. I had nausea and diarrhea up until 30 weeks with DS but no vomiting - all three together just sounds torturous. I hope the meds help you to feel better.

  • @ChasingTheDog Isn't it a joy? Another one of those glowing symptoms no one ever mentions before you get pregnant!
  • I woke up in the middle of the night on my back and my left foot was asleep... it took me a little bit to realize what was going on and I finally turned over to my left side but it freaked me out and made me have anxiety about the baby.
