October Symptoms

Re: October Symptoms

  • +1 for exhaustion. I'm so jealous of you gals who are already nesting. I usually come home with grand dreams of cleaning or organizing and then I sit on the couch for one second and immediately fall asleep.
  • Loading the player...
  • @mtengl I've been falling asleep on my side and waking up on my back, too. It's happening more frequently.
  • @CoastieGirl79 it is really annoying. I always wake up when I end up on my back too which is reassuring cause I can fix it but today was the first time I had any of the symptoms of to much weight
  • @mtengl @coastiegirl79 my ob said that "generally" you don't need to be worried about waking up on your back, since your body is waking you up so that you can fix it. He said that it's rare that your body wouldn't alert you to something going on. I've woken up on my back, too. Not very often, since my pregnancy pillow helps prevent this, but it happens still.
Mtengl, that would be a little unnerving waking up with a numb foot, though!!

  • In honor of hitting 3rd tri and wk 28, I have started with horrible constipation that makes it hard to eat and when I do eat, I feel so full I want to throw up.  I'm currently having a sbux latte with a shot of miralax in hopes of feeling better soon.
  • You ladies are making me feel a lot better about being exhausted. I go to bed between 9-9:30 every night and wake up at 6 and still need a nap in the middle of the day. Also, nausea has returned this week. I actually think it might be more heartburn/reflux, but I've been waking up with annoying pains in my stomach for the past couple of nights.

I am also ridiculously winded.. I decided to walk up 3 flights of stairs at work yesterday and thought I was going to pass out by the time I got to the top. I had to actually stop and stoop over to catch my breath, lol. I don't remember things being this bad with DD..

And I know I've mentioned this before, but the flipping vulvar varicose veins are killing me. I don't know how I'm going to survive 16 more weeks of this. They are so swollen and sore if I stand up for too long that I'm reminded of how the lady bits felt 1 week postpartum. TBH, I'm nervous about a vaginal delivery because I've convinced myself that they will rupture with the added pressure of pushing.
  • I fell asleep on the couch today and what a mistake! I now have the worst pain in my right hip/lower back. It hurts if I move specific ways or bend over to pick something up. Holy crap, I feel like im 80 years old.

  • We splurged when we got a new mattress years ago and bought a bed that adjusts. I have found the perfect sleeping position now. I'm upset it took me two pregnancies to figure it out, lol. Head slightly up and legs about twice as high. I can sleep on my sides so comfortably. And I don't feel as bad if I wake on my back because it is slightly elevated. Unfortunately, SO can't sleep in this position and I'm not one to force him to be uncomfortable but when he falls asleep on the couch it's a-ok with me, lol
  • Anyone else having Braxton Hix quite frequently? Expecting twins and due Jan. 17th. Not sure if I should be concerned.
  • Has anyone noticed their vision getting worse? I've generally only needed glasses for things like driving, movie theaters, or basically anything where i'd need to pick out fine details from far away. Lately I've barely been able to read my computer screen. I almost made an appointment to get a new prescription but I did a quick google search and everything said NOT to update your prescription while pregnant because your vision can be temporarily blurred. I'm not used to having to wear my glasses all the time! I forgot to bring them today and, aside from having to majorly squint to see what I'm typing, I'm so bummed because I have a 3d ultrasound scheduled right after work and won't even be able to see.
  • ugh @kaf1788! Yeah my vision in one eye has been a little worse, esp if I've been reading or computer-ing for a while (which is every day). I don't have a regular prescription but use readers to help. Maybe wearing your glasses more often would help make it less fatigued? It has something to do with blood volume and pressure etc.

    Andrea -- FTM at 39!

  • @kaf1788 Yes! It's really common to have vision changes in pregnancy. Mine has gotten worse and some days I also have tons of "floaties". Don't adjust your prescription until after baby is here.

@Mandamay1414 Vulvar varicose veins sound horrific....that should definitely NOT be a thing. I'm sorry you are in so much discomfort. Not the same thing, but my cousin had really, really bad hemmies prior to L&D and when she got to the pushing stage, her midwife put an icepack on her butt and applied counter pressure so she wouldn't make them worse with the pressure of pushing. Maybe something like that is an option?

@bradleysmommy28 Hope you find some relief! I am on a daily regimen of magnesium and colace just to keep things moving. I still have problems every now and again though and have to call in the big guns....constipation is awful! I can't eat it anymore now that I have to be gluten free, but when I was pg with DD I found the magic bullet was Raisin Bran cereal. If I ate a bowl a day, I could keep things moving, but I would be in trouble if I didn't!

  • I can't tell if I'm having contractions or my bump just hurts. It's an off and on pain, across my belly, I'm kind of crampy. I can't seem to discern a beginning and an end though. Like all of a sudden I notice it hurts and I have cramps and then it's gone. It's weirding me out.

  • @wildcat2017 I get them quite frequently. Several times a day, almost every time I'm walking and need to pee at the same time. Every time I exercise or walk more than 5 minutes, and if it is exercise, I get several more even when I'm done. I got them a lot last time with DD and they ended up fine, BUT I've still heard they can induce labor if you have too many in an hour and if they become timeable (ex: every 5 or 7 minutes). They say BH is your uterus practicing, and I don't know if it's because all the BH, but I had a fast L&D.

  • Sneezing! Omg. I’m a multi-sneezer who always sneezes at least 3x so it’s pretty disruptive. I’m sneezing at least 3 sets a day. I don’t have a history of allergies so I’m assuming it’s just my nose on high alert for germs.  Also it hurts my round ligaments and I thought I was going to die this morning
  • @ChasingTheDog I think there's something about the whole increased blood flow during pregnancy thing increasing the vessels inside the nose, blah blah blah. Roughly. Try a saline nasal spray if it gets bad. I've had to do that off an on. And yeah. The RLP with sneezes. Not fun.

  • The RLP and the pee with sneezing. Ugh. I've had a definite increase in nasal activity with this pregnancy. Constantly blowing my nose and full of mucus and boogers. Can't wait for that to end.
  • I haven’t been sleeping well at all... a lot of tossing and turning. I currently just have a body pillow and seriously thinking about breaking down and getting a pregnancy pillow but I am worried it won’t be much better.
  • @mtengl I love my pregnancy pillow... But I don't know that it'll be much better than your body pillow.
  • The RLP and the pee with sneezing. Ugh. I've had a definite increase in nasal activity with this pregnancy. Constantly blowing my nose and full of mucus and boogers. Can't wait for that to end.
    Ugh the snissing
  • @ladystout08 +1 for the cramping feeling it happened a couple days ago that really freaked me out.
  • @ladystout08 @galactickates Plenty of cramping here, too, but as long as it doesn't get progressively worse... It's likely nothing. The midwife also said to watch for any cramping that goes into your back and gradually works its way up - could be an infection headed for your kidneys.

DH was poking my belly earlier, telling baby to " come out and fight." When she started kicking hard, I put his hand where she was rolling around and she did a few impressive jabs that made my entire belly move. DH was convinced that I was moving my belly when she started rolling and he was like, wtf. Hahaha. If he put his hands there more, he'd know how crazy baby kicks can be!
  • I have been so out of breath today. I also keep coughing randomly when I switch positions (like going from laying down to standing) has anyone else dealt with this?
  • @mtengl I get that, too, some days! Most of the time when laying down, I have to sit up slowly and pause before standing. I can't just jump up. It's basically all because my lungs...it's like when I'm laying, baby pressed in on my lungs, and when I sit or stand it makes my lungs suddenly expand and it feels uncomfortable for a few seconds.

Groin, back, hip pain! Have been feeling great so far, working out and feeling good, but this soreness and pain came out of nowhere and is driving me crazy!
  • Ugh, anyone else dealing with the return of nausea? It's been so gross the last few days. Doesn't seem to matter if I eat or don't eat. Also have gagged a few times in reponse to nausea or smells. No fair to have the return of 1st tri symptoms while dealing with 3rd tri symptoms!

I mean this never fully went away, and the gagging from smells definitely didn’t lessen even a little. That being said, it nausea does get much worse again when my reflux is acting up, so you might try an antacid, even if you don’t feel all that reflux-y and see if it helps.

Glad I’m not the only one. I get super paranoid when this happens and my anxiety tells me something is wrong. I then have to talk myself down before it gets too bad
  • As for me, sore all over. +1 to labored breathing +1 for no room in my stomach for food. Lots of hip pain and starting to get uncomfortable at night. Wouldn’t say it’s quite insomnia yet but I can definitely stay up much later than what’s been normal so far during pregnancy. And my old friend constipation has returned. Thought by taking stool softeners and trying to drink as much water as possible I would keep it at bay.
  • Reflux is killing me, especially at night now. Laying flat seems near impossible even if I haven't eaten anything recently! When my reflux is bad I also get some waves of nausea, usually sitting up and a snack help but sometimes I just don't feel like getting out of bed.

  • Reflux, heartburrn, back aches, exhaustion, SUGARY STUFF CRAVINGS. Also migranes which have lasted about 2 weeks and led me to reduce screen time substantially so that's why I've been MIA lately :\

But I'm loving the cute lil bump growing and clearly visible, and so much kicking from baby!  I got 5 in a row this AM before I got up for my shower.  I think I have a soccer star in my belly! #worthit

My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone)

    IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN
HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear!
    IUI #4: April 15/16, 2018 - BFP!! EDD: Jan 7, 2019

  • I tried to stop unisom last night.... nope didn’t sleep plus I threw up this morning which hasn’t happened. I guess I am not stopping that medicine
  • Discovered my very first hemorrhoid today! Yay! Welcome to the third trimester y’all  :|:|:| I’m not even constipated though. *shrug* hoping and praying it doesn’t get worse.

Also very tired. I have a Fitbit and although I sleep from 9:30-6:30 or so most nights, apparently it’s almost all restless so only about 3.5-4 hours is actual sleep (and it’s crappy, broken up 15 minute chunks of sleep). It feels pretty accurate and maybe that’s what’s going on with some of you guys too? My husband’s shows a solid 7.5-8 hours each night.

Generally just lazy, tired, slightly uncomfortable a lot of the time. And work and life feels so busy and I just want to do nothing for awhile. Mehhhh

  • I'm. so. itchy. My belly & sides & lower back & upper thighs & lower boobs. On my stretch marks particularly. During my 24 week check last week I brought it up and he said it may be PUPPPs. Definitely a little bumpy rash going on in all those places that gets worse when I scratch the crap out of it, but damn, it feels good to do it.

Applied hydrocortisone last night and got some relief. I think someone on here said refrigerated aloe vera gel? That sounds like heaven and I'll be dropping by the store on my way home to grab some. (Also talking about this is making me itchy AF...) Ugh
  • ugh, had a minor freak out when I went to the bathroom and noticed a teeny tiny bit of red when I wiped.  I immediately went straight for my doppler and the baby started flipping around.  I'm thinking it was caused by some dryness but I hate this third tri anxiety and it doesn't help that DH is out of town.
  • @bradleysmommy28 sorry that you had to deal with the anxiety! I've been feeling more dry though too and generally more sensitive in the vaginal area. Sex has brought on tiny amounts of spotting too. I think there's just a ton of extra blood flow to the area. Of course calling the OB is always perfectly fine too, just to make sure!
  • +1 to new symptom: cramps!!! 26 weeks today and for the past week, I’ve been getting slight cramps on my lower sides.

Today, I woke up with a few added stretch marks. I’m thinking these cramps were just my uterus expanding more.

Still fighting heartburn even when I don’t eat spicy foods! Yesterday I had buttered noodles w shredded parmesan and I still suffered.
  • @merostomata I have “roid rage” too. I got them after I had DS and they eventually shrank. Now they’re back just from all the pressure baby puts down there because my constipation is a lot better now. The joys of motherhood!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Have  any of you ladies noticed the baby has dropped? I thought I was going crazy because one morning I woke up able to breath better and not feel so squished. Over the last couple of days my coworkers noted I'm carrying lower. I'm 28 weeks. Don't remember this happening this early with DS. I can definitely feel a huge difference in my lung capacity.
  • I've definitely had some crusted up colostrum in my bra for the past few weeks or so, but I'm sitting around in my robe and since it is almost towel like I can feel the colostrum leaking out. Grateful I made it to 28 weeks and that it isn't much. With DD1 it started around 20 weeks and I would wake up with my shirts so wet. DD2 was more like 24 ish weeks. I already feel like it's a waste of precious milk, ha ha
