@mcgeeva They're just in the 140's over 90's so just slightly elevated. Oh I'm absolutely huge. The only shoes I can wear are flip flops and even those leave huge marks on my feet.
@snugglyduckling25 Thank you! Yes, we are supposed to talk today at my appointment.
@maureenmce I messaged her on Monday and told her that I had had a headache for two days but that day my blood test results came back and they said they all seemed to be normal. She called me last night to make sure I was alright and said we will make a plan at my appointment today. I'll definitely be sure to tell her I'm now on day four of a headache. I'll also ask her if she wants me to get an at home blood pressure monitor. Thank you!
@lexidawg coming in a little late to the vaccine topic, but it's been the talk of our house a lot lately, so I'll throw in what we're doing. We're all up to date on our TDAP (and I'll be getting it again), including our parents and I will push for flu shots for anyone who plans to come in contact with the baby. It's supposed to be another really bad flu season and I've heard the vaccine this year is more effective. Obviously lots of hand washing too. It should be interesting though because my brother and SIL are thinking of coming in for christmas with my 2 year old nephew and their newborn and they are anti-vax. I'm still not sure how to handle that situation. They've asked that people NOT be vaccinated within 6 weeks of seeing THEIR newborn so even if I didn't draw the line in the sand, they have, because we'll all be fresh. We haven't had the discussion with them yet, but it's coming I'm sure.
@mcgeeva@ScootsMcG I’m jealous that you’ve worn your rings this long! I needed a larger ring size before I left the first tri. @snugglyduckling25 I love silicone bands - I bought mine from Enso, they’re true to size. Normally I wear a 5, but early weight gain made a silicone 6 perfect (I also bought a 7 but haven't needed it yet).
@mamajudec2018 I missed your multi-day headache, I hope it clears up or that you get some answers sooner than later

I'm sorry, what? What is your SIL smoking? Is she worried about vaccine shedding? Because that is only accurate for three vaccines (chickenpox, rubella, and rotavirus) and even so, is EXTREMELY RARE. I just cannot. So your 2 year old nephew has never been vaccinated? And will potentially have access to your brand new baby? That would so not fly in my world.
@katy0990 My SIL believes in vaccine shedding, so she thinks that the vaccines people get will shed and negatively impact the baby. FTR, I do not believe this. At all.
@westcoastfoodie So do they not allow doctors or nurses to handle their children? How do they cope with this at school, child care, parks, out to eat, story time, etc.? I do not mean to come off as judgy, I am just curious where she draws that line?
Jens_Hoes I am 100% on board with you. Shit I didn't allow my husband's family friend and their 6 yr old to stay with us who are anti vaccine per my doctor's instructions. But with a new baby...hellz no. Even my family who have vaccines i will not allow my brothers toddlers to touch or get near my baby until she is at least a month old because we all know they can be carriers from daycare.

@mcgeeva How do you handle limiting other children being around the baby? My family has all been vaccinated (the only possible exception, may be the flu), but I am worried about them bringing their children around the baby. Do you just tell them that cannot touch or do you not let them come over at all?

I am being judgy!!! lol This idiotic behavior (from the SIL, not @westcoastfoodie) deserves to be judged.
@katy0909 I host xmas every year and no joke baby will be in a bouncer - if she comes before christmas and there will be a straight rule no kids are allowed to touch baby period. I have to boys if they are sickly at all same applies. If your children are sick have courtesy you should not be coming to my home or yes I will send you away. I do the same for my friends as well. If sickness is going through my house as much as I want to meet their babies I wait to not chance passing something to a new baby that could become deathly ill.

@westcoastfoodie How your SIL wouldn't be an issue for me because I would NOT allow them or their children around my newborn or myself for that matter.
@mcgeeva I was just curious, with DS we were pretty much always home and it was not an issue (obviously I told people not to come if they were sick). This time, I know I will be still doing activities with my two-year-old, so I know I will have to tell people not to allow their children to touch the baby.
@katy0990 We probably won't be around any other little ones during the newborn period, but I'm worried about my own DD touching and kissing the baby because she is SUCH a germ factory. She goes to a large daycare and is also a play in the dirt/put gross things in your mouth kind of kiddo - wondering what other STMs are doing with their own toddlers? Having a no kissies policy for the first few months? Or just rolling with the inevitable germs? DD has at least gotten her flu shot already and is up to date on vaccines.
@maureenmce just starting to think about this myself. DD will be getting a flu shot and is otherwise up to date including the 4 yo dose of DTaP. I think we’ll have a strict handwashing policy, plus no touching her face. I think we can take reasonable precautions, then admit the limits of our control and hope for the best.
@maureenmce I am definitely going to be super diligent about him washing his hands and I will discourage him from touching baby’s face. Honestly though, I feel like most germs he comes in contact with will be around the house, so baby will most likely be exposed anyway. I am just going to keep praying that I am able to breast-feed again, because I swear that really helped to keep DS’s immune system up.
@katy0990 I have ZERO idea. AlI know is that about a month ago she posted on her facebook asking that if anyone wanted to come visit the baby that they not be vaccinated within 6 weeks of seeing her. My eyeballs just about fell out of my face.
@Jens_Hoes judge away! You and I are on the same page. I've already told my parent that if they come, that means we'll have to figure something else out regarding christmas day ect. I hate to put them (my parents) in that situation and it's really tough because my brother and I are close. If she wasn't family there wouldn't be an issue, but I'm not going to argue points about it with her because I want to keep the peace. At the same time, I'm going to do what I need to keep my family safe. It's hard to reconcile all the feelings I have about it.
Hi all! I wanted to update from my appointment. Thank you for the concern and support.
My urine test was "pre-eclamptic" but since I have only had one high blood pressure (yesterday at physical therapy) they haven't diagnosed me with pre-eclampsia. My doctor has asked me to get a blood pressure cuff for at home. She will also be seeing me weekly for the next three weeks and then starting at 32 weeks I will do fetal monitoring (fetal monitoring was already in our plan.) The fetal monitoring consists of non stress tests once a week, one ultrasound a week to check my fluid, and one meeting with my doctor a week. If my blood pressure is high one or two more times either at home or at the doctor then we will do a dose of steroids to build up baby's lungs in case he needs to come premature. At that point our goal will be to get to 37 weeks. If my blood pressure isn't high again then we will go to 39 weeks as planned.
@ab_canada Yes, I'm glad to have gotten some answers.
@katy0990 I feel really good about the plan. She seems concerned but not like she is going to jump to something that doesn't need to be done. I think it'll give me some peace to have a blood pressure monitor at home too and she said to call if it ever goes to or above 140/90. It seems like if my symptoms get worse, little man will be well taken care of too which of course is my number one concern.
@mamajudec2018 I'm sorry for the potential for pre-eclampsia at least you're educated and have been persistent with asking questions to get answers. It's a shame the answers aren't as clear as you'd hope. Definitely good they'll be keeping a closer eye on you and baby.
@mamajudec2018 I’m happy that the monitoring has changed, and that they’re ready to spring into action if needed

@mamajudec2018 I'm so glad they're keeping a close eye on you, that you'll be monitoring your blood pressure at home and that there's a plan in place you feel comfortable with!
@mamajudec2018 I'm really glad you're doctor doesn't seem too concerned but is being so thorough. I hope the monitoring and weekly checkups give you some peace of mind.
Re: vaccines, most of the family either has small babies or spends enough time around someone who is immunocompromised that we’re all usually up to date on vaccines. My kids know they they need to wash their hands before holding their baby cousin, and hopefully that’ll hold when their brother comes.
mamajudec2018 so so happy you have an action plan. Bring back so many memories it sounds like she knows what she is doing. And if I’m see high readings yourself the plan will change again so glad she is monitoring it close.

Not sure if its been asked before but how are you planning on dressing the babies in the winter? All long sleeve onesies/sleepers? Do we even need short sleeved shirts? How many NB vs 3 mo outfits? Layers? I'm so confused...
@hannelorre I bought a bunch of short sleeved white onesies, and long sleeved white shirts (in a variety of sizes). I've knitted a couple of pairs of pants, and bought some comfy pants from ON, and baby will have a sweater or two from my mom. I'm all about the layers. We do have some jammies, but (this belongs in the OU) I hate leaving baby in jammies all day long, the same way I hate being in jammies all day long, so I prefer to have more "outfit" type stuff, even if it's all super comfy lounge wear anyway.
And hats. Lots of hats. Baby's head will be warm this winter I figure most of the time he'll be wrapped in a blanket anyway, so I'm not worried about him getting cold.
@hannelorre Opposite of @runrinserepeat my Feb baby lived in long sleeved jammies. It was just easier to me and it seemed silly at the time to keep changing her when she didn’t move anywhere. But it’s certainly to each her own. I would have some long sleeve jammies, long sleeve onesies, pants, and socks. In my experience, not a ton of NB clothes but some because they may be too big for them when they’re born or grow out of them really quickly. A few more probably in 0-3 and 3-6 sizes. Also I would get just a few short sleeves in each size just in case it is warm where you are sometimes. I tend to stay inside a lot during winter so it’s usually a good temp for just light long sleeves.
But they don’t, @katy0990! With jams you need to undo all the way up! With pants and a shirt I don’t have to undo him all the way up, just pull down his pants to change him!
