Was nerding out today and discovered a pretty cool study done on ovulation. They studied LH surge, BBT rise, and confirmed O by ultrasound. Here's the chart.
CM-EDO=cervical mucus - expected day of ovulation LH-EDO=luteinizing hormone - expected day of ovulation BBT-EDO=basal body temperature - expected day of ovulation US-DO=ultrasound - day of ovulation
What I found the most interesting is the 8 and 9th charts. The 8th chart shows the discrepancy between the day of actual ovulation and the BBT rise. The largest percentage of BBT rise comes 3 days after ovulation. The 9th chart shows the discrepancy between LH surge and BBT rise, in which the largest percentage of BBT rise comes 2 days after LH surge. Just food for thought as we are analyzing and possibly disagreeing with FF.
Right now I’m only CM tracking, so by looking at the top left chart, am I correct to assume that one’s last day of fertile CM is slightly more likely to be the day after ovulation? (edited to rephrase question)
Those that have taken Provera, how long did it typically take you to get AF? I have taken it several times before and almost always got it 3 days after taking it. The last time I took it a few months ago I think it took 7 days. I finished my last pill last Monday and still no spotting or anything.
Okay this is my first month tracking bbt and I’m wondering if I ovulated later than I initially thought? So I’ve attached a pic of my bbt chart. The last yellow day is the day after the day I think I ovulated based on my bbt going up but where the green X is I actually got a solid smiley face on the clear blue digital opk. Also, the second attached picture is a first response opk and the line is still dark. I’m wondering if I actually ovulated a little later? I’m just trying to figure all of this out.
Is it normal to have fertile seeming CM while on the BCP? On CD1 of this cycle I started BCP (Isibloom, which is an estrogen and progestin pill) at the direction of my clinic to keep my ovaries quieted down until stims on 9/14. I'm having some fertile seeming CM... and also ovarian pain that I normally associate with ovulation on and off but that's been going on since a few days in. I'm going in for baseline Thursday.
@zamora_spin when I was on the pill I definitely still had fertile CM.

For those who like to chart stalk, do you agree with FF? +OPK both in AM and PM on CD14. OPK on morning of CD15 still had a 2nd line but it wasn’t as dark as the control line (wondfos). I am leaning more towards CD14, but....
@nmbrcrnchr1 I agree with you at CD14. The past 2 cycles mine have been very slight increases on 1dpo (actually just like yours). And based on O pain and changes to my CM, I'm quite sure of when O is.
I agree with FF. My chart last month looked very similar with a small rise after my first positive opk. But gosh, you just never know with temping. FC for you!

Hi guys - I'm wondering if I discard two temps or just let the pattern happen. I can't think of any real reason as to why these two temps are so much higher. Char 1 - with all temps
@chichiphin It's generally recommended not to discard temps because you are looking for the overall pattern, and one or two errant temps don't usually affect that. What are the open circles for? Did you temp at the same time on the days with open circles?

Those temps are open circles because they weren't taken at your usual temp time. I would leave them. You really aren't concerned with just one or two temps, but the overall pattern.
@chichiphin I'm assuming those 2 high temps were the ones taken at 6:20 and 6:45. That's why the temps are higher (and also why they're an open circle). I believe temps need to be taken within 15 minutes of what FF recognizes (or you set) as your normal time.

@chichiphin I was deep diving on temp time this morning because I woke up at 4am. According to the Kindara knowledge base, stick within a 30 min window of a given time (6:30am in my scenario). They wrote that temps usually vary .01-.05 per 30 min in either direction (decrease for earlier, increase for later), which would explain the extreme peaks and dips on your chart. They also wrote that some people will correct the early or late temp (between .01-.05) if they had to temp outside of the range, so that they do not have to mark it out as questionable.
@chichiphin I would temp vaginally. Your temps will be more stable. And also try to temp around the same time. I set FF to 6:30am so if I temp anywhere between 6:00AM to 7:00AM it will give me full circles.

Is it concerning to have several days of positive opks?
Digital or cheapies? I hear about it all the time with digitals. Cheapies tho - I’m not sure. I also know that my track record with knowing what a true positive on a cheapie looks like is pretty bad. I think the test lines supposed to be way darker than the control to be a true positive?
They are cheapies, lines are way darker and this is day 3. Usually, my surge is slow to rise once it is positive, I O quickly. My temps are still low. I am a bit crampy today, but don’t have the full? feeling I get when I O.
Another question, I have it in my head that anti inflammatoriea are bad while ttc, but am not sure if I am making that up. My obgyn had me stop all my autoimmune meds and I stopped them too, but spent the day in the sun and already feel like crap. But Wednesday is his surgery day, so I can’t call. I know long term use can suppress ovulation, but wasn’t sure about occasional use.
I switched to the pink stork brand this cycle. So far they seem alright.

I just switched to Garden of Life mykind organics gummy because I needed something without Iron -- I went back to taking Iron separately again. I chatted with someone at Natural Grocers about choices and she said to aim for one that is whole food based vitamins (versus the isolated nutrients) because your body can process them better.
+1 for Garden of Life. I use the raw prenatal specifically.
Eta: @mamanbebe Why do you take iron separately? I've thought of doing that myself.

@suzycupcake I started taking the MegaFood iron supplement over the summer because my blood panel came back borderline anemic. I was doing really well on it, but when I stopped taking it to switch to an all-in-one pnv w/ iron, my pulse became weak again (at acupuncture) and the bad stress symptoms reappeared. My assumption is that I wasn't absorbing the iron in the all in one, for whatever reason. So, I'm back on MegaFood, also taking separate vitamin D drops. I'm determine to find a combo that works!
I just started with the Upspring gummies+ soft gel. Not bad. I tried the Smarty Pants Prenatal complete but couldn't handle the banana flavored gummies. Bleh....

@mamanbebe the problem with multivitamins if you have an iron issue is that since it's a multivitamin it typically also has calcium in it, and calcium blocks the absorption of iron. MegaFood Baby and Me 2 does not have calcium in it (I assume for that reason) so is a good vitamin for people who need to make sure they're getting enough iron. If you're concerned about calcium just take a separate pill at a different time of day.

Seconding this. I started taking Baby and Me 2 last week for these very reasons. Plus, there's Folate instead of Folic Acid.
