@echo-charlietango I think someone may have snuck in here and sketched that bitmoji from what I look like IRL right now.
There is currently one position right now that doesn't make my hips/back explode and/or make me contract like crazy. My body is just so so tired from tensing up during these contractions for the last several days.
Luckily they gave me some procardia a little while ago to ease the contractions and it's already working, thank god. Hopefully that means I can get some sleep tonight.
I hope they send me home with a prescription for it. I was seriously starting to get concerned about how much longer I was going to make it with things going how they were. I felt like my body was just going to shut down at some point.
Other than that little whine-fest, things are OK. Still incredibly constipated though and still waiting for the spotting to taper off and just go away. Very anxious for the ultrasound tomorrow.
@hkom I know I need to go check the bedrest thread, but I'll ask here too- does your U/S tomorrow determine if you get to go home?? Fingers crossed it goes well!
AFM, same old same old. I feel so huge and uncomfortable and I'm exhausted all the time. My hypoglycemia has really peaked and I have to have a snack every hour or I get so woozy. Oh also, as of this afternoon, little man has found my lungs and I CANT BREATHE! It's awful! I almost had a panic attack earlier because I just couldn't get a deep breath in with how he was sitting. No fun, man.
@hkom That sounds miserable. I'm so sorry. I hope the meds do help you sleep and they give you a prescription.
My reflux is SO bad today, ugh. And for the last few days I've been having this annoying thing I've had a lot during this pregnancy where my stomach just feels full of liquid and it makes me nauseous, even when I haven't had much to drink. It's so bizarre and annoying and I cannot wait for it to pass.
+1 for reflux. I'm over it. It makes sleep impossible some nights.
@hkom how awful. I'm glad you at least have 1 position that's comfortable, though. And thank goodness you got some meds that seem to be keeping contractions at bay. Fingers crossed for your US tomorrow!
@orangecrush29 ugh, I hate that feeling! I found that if that starts to happen, if I get on my hands and knees it let's baby fall out of my chest cavity, lol. Obvs that doesn't work if I'm at the grocery store, but I'll do it if I'm at home!
Reflux starting to get more serious. Makes going to bed less of a wonderful crash and more of a scuttlebutt pillow affair. Ive been propping myself up like a right queen. Have been just exhausted the last two days even though I’ve been getting the same amount of sleep etc. anyone else having these wild energy highs and lows?
@hkom Crossing my fingers for you for a good ultrasound and that you get to go home soon!
@orangecrush29 Ugh, that sounds miserable. Makes baby on my bladder every day not sound so bad!
I've been dealing with something new recently and I hope there are others that can relate. My left leg has had some on and off pain the past week. What's weird to me is that it's not in just one spot where it will suddenly feel sore. When I was dealing with it earlier this week, I thought it was because I did a lot of walking the day before, so my calf was just sore from it. Then it went away and a few days later, it felt a little sore again. I've had some leg and foot tingling, along with the feeling like my skin burning as if I had sun burn, but it's not warm to the touch. I was starting to think it was sciatica pain, but I'm not so sure anymore.
@hkom glad the meds are working and keeping fingers crossed for you to be in your own bed soon! @maureenmce I don't know if it's the same, but I've also been randomly nauseous and kind of full feeling without eating lately. Lame. @whit789 haha sleeping like a queen, I'm gonna start using that.
Biggest "symptoms" here are lack of sleep and deep breathing. Between peeing and reconfiguring "Fort kickass" (my pillow castle) I am rolling around wayyy too much. And h is always asking me if I'm alright because apparebtly I'm sighing, but my only possible response is "things are hard,ok". Yesterday he told me I sounded like a guinea pig. Worst part is I know there are 3 months left!
@morgantu@whit789 I'm right there with you as far as sleep, or lack there of. I'm always tired, but no matter how hard I try I can't sleep very well. I even drank some sleepytime tea last night and was still opening my eyes every couple hours.
Along with sleep troubles, sciatica has been a B lately. And it's getting harder to afford my chiropractor each week since we're trying to save up money for while I'm off work since I've only got about 1-1.5 months worth of pay during that time. Shockingly my reflux has given me a break! But now that I've said that it'll come back full force I'm sure.
It made me feel so much better to read through this thread this morning. I was feeling bad for myself (still am a bit) because my back is killing me, I have heartburn, and I can't sleep. Reading this reminded me that you are all going through the same things and it's normal. Pregnancy solidarity for the win.
@Jens_Hoes I have no idea what time they'll come get me. Depends on if they get any triage people in or not. Could be in an hour or it could be not until 1 or 2 this afternoon.
FFC: I had a few weeks of pretty awesome smooth sailing.
But it all came crashing down toward the end of last week. Dude has been hanging out mostly on my left side and (coincidentally?) I've been having reeeeally bad pain on the left side of my back for days. (Feels okay in this moment) Also, bigness. Just feel. so. big. Went to a shower yesterday for a 36-weeks-along friend and I was like, AHHH I'M GOING TO GET EVEN BIGGER (I didn't say this to her ) And my burping is out of control. And I'm hot and sweaty when I feel like I shouldn't be. Woof!
hkom im sorry your still having contractions that is horrible Hoping you get out too but im sure if your still having them they will make you stay.
My complaint this week is my god I only feel great on my side or sitting straight up. I lay back at any angle and I feel like im having a hard time breathing. Way to early for this I feel like. And yesterday I finally got my butt to swim for the first time in a longggg time and had major pains below my belly. Not sure what caused that unless the swimming itself. Hoping if I don't do every day it will be okay.

For all the folks with back pain or other aches who are in the US... I realllly wish our healthcare/insurance system was better in regards to chiropractic care and massage for everyone! (For example, more appointments covered by insurance, and once you hit your deductible having them very low or no-cost to the patient.) I have been having so many pains, and feel like I'm only keeping them at bay with help from my chiropractor and massage therapist.
This weekend was just awful. On Friday, I had a hankering for egg roll in a bowl (which if you don't know what it is, look it up, it's amazing.) But... I knew cabbage tends to make me pass gas more. BIG MISTAKE. Apparently, what used to be just a little gas pre-pregnancy turned into full on IBS with cramping, bloating and constipation. 2 hours after eating, I was cramping like crazy and would have been super concerned except every time I passed gas I felt better for like 20 minutes. I was up pretty much all of Friday night and was uncomfortable until mid-day Saturday. No more cabbage for me till next year.
Then, my neck/shoulder tightness (which I had last weekend too and had to see my chiro for last week due to numbness in my right arm/hand) flared up again and I started getting tendon pain in my left arm/hand. That kept me up pretty much all night on Saturday. Last night, it calmed down a bit and I iced it before bed and got 9.5 hours sleep. Currently, the hand is a little numb in certain positions, but I have to keep it where it is so I can work. I have a massage tonight, so I'm hoping it will help.
For normal pregnancy symptoms, lots of kicks, lots of peeing, and just general mid-back soreness by the end of each day. Can't complain too much about any of that.
@ab_canada Thanks! I hope so too. I usually get regular massage because of a history with headaches, and this time it's been triple the time since I normally would have had one due to summer plans for myself and for my massage therapist... I'm surprised I haven't had any headaches, but I know that all these arm things are related to that neck/shoulder tension.
@omnommer I've been getting knots in my neck periodically (causing pretty bad headaches sometimes) because I can't find a pillow that works for me. TBH, the only thing that helped release it was taking an Advil Muscle & Joint, which is unfortunate for pregnancy.. Luckily, the snoogle has been the perfect pillow for me, so I haven't had that problem for a while.
@hkom Hope all goes well with your ultrasound today! Keep us posted.
@omnommer Ooof that sounds terrible!! At least you know what you need to avoid from now on...Is it just cabbage that triggers this for you? Or are there other foods? Hope you're all better from now on IBS-wise...
@mcgeeva Sorry about your swim troubles! What did the pains feel like? Sharp? I'd be surprised if swimming caused it since being in water usually relieves any pressure. I've been swimming somewhat regularly and it's the only exercise that doesn't bother me at this point...hope your pains were just a fluke and next time you feel great.
@orangecrush29 that almost panic attack sounds SO frightening! I hope your gives you a break soon and you can breathe deeply again.
AFM, I've been having sharp pains on both sides of the top of my pelvic bone...has anyone else felt this? I usually feel it when I'm walking or moving somewhat quickly...it's pretty high up and feels like it's the on the bone itself. I'm sure it's nothing serious, just annoying. Like most pregnancy symptoms! But I might call my doctor just to make sure...

Sort of sounds like round ligament pain.. Although I don't think I would describe it as being "on the bone", so maybe not.. Could also be just tight hips - try runner's lunge for stretching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfJl_jhJcWw
@ab_canada I don't think it is round ligament, because I'm 95% sure I've felt that/know what that's like (usually I feel that when I'm laying down in bed, and then have a big sneeze/cough and it's sharp pain, but almost in my crotch area? I thought that was round ligament?) Anyway, this feels like sharp pain on my pelvic bone much higher than where I think I've had round ligament before...but who knows. I'm gonna message my doctor and see what she thinks.
@shevsky Yes, only cabbage! Haha. And only during pregnancy apparently. Certain foods historically make me gassy (cabbage included), but none of the others had this reaction.
Also, definitely call your doc just to make sure. That's what they are there for! But it could just be round ligament pain, but I usually feel them just on one side at a time. The other option could be that your ligaments and bones are relaxing already and shifting. Stretching should help, but be careful of not overstretching the pelvic region.
@shevsky Could still be round ligament pain. Here is a description from webmd:
"The round ligament connects the front part of the womb to your groin, the area where your legs attach to your pelvis. The round ligament normally tightens and relaxes slowly."
@omnommer good call on not over-stretching. I forget that it's a risk during pregnancy.
@hkom Good luck with your u/s! @whitneyb89 If I walk or stand too much, especially without supportive shoes, my thigh gets tingly and numb, too. Last pregnancy, my OB attributed it to the extra weight pressing on my nerves.
@omnommer Oh gosh that sounds horrible! I'm so sorry! I've had random terrible food reactions during pregnancy that have taken me completely off guard (like chai tea lattes apparently make me puke a ton, fun!) so I completely empathize. Also agree that US health care system is terrible for pregnant ladies. I would totally go to a chiropractor and get massages if even a tiny percentage were covered by insurance, but it's all out of pocket and I can't afford that.
AFM, anyone else's baby kicks getting GIANT and painful! Like, dang, I assume this little guy is only about 2-3 pounds at this point, but these kicks are starting to be really uncomfortable! And he's much more of a kicker than his sister was, so...I guess I'm in for some painful kicks the next 12 weeks! (Of course I am so grateful for the reassurance of kicks but again, ow.)
@hkom I'm sorry about the continued contractions. I can't imagine. I don't know what they feel like but I'm sure it's miserable. I'm glad they gave you some meds to help ease the discomfort and really hoping they keep you on them!
@PensiveCrayon I agree about liking the kicking! I honestly am hoping every day that he kicks more or probably honestly that I'm just able to feel it more. It's so reassuring!
@whit789 I was feeling miserably exhuasted so I finally gave in and drank coffee for the first time since February. I made a k cup and had about 3 quarters of it and it made me feel so incredibly glorious!
@morgantu It seems crazy to me that there are still 3 months left! I totally feel ya on that!
My big symptoms for this week are SWELLING! My feet are freaking huge as of Saturday. I can't really fit in any shoes comfortably except for flip flops and had to wear my husband's socks yesterday. I'm only 26 weeks, 5 days.
Also my right hand is so swollen, painful, and crampy that I can't write normally. It's so weird.
@omnommer Sorry you have to give up cabbage! I love the stuff but haven't had any sizable amounts in months - just too gassy as is @hkom I'm going to search for ultrasound updates from you ! FX

Luckily the back aches are getting better since a friend loaned me her U shaped pillow. I call it the Echo Nest since it takes up so much space, but damn, my bones do feel better. Anyhoo I actually have a new symptom! Does anybody else have pressure under the sternum - specifically under the solar plexus? It's not painful, just pressure that is temporarily relieved when I prod around the upper abdomen nearest the sternum. Now everything is uncomfortable...and only going to get worse. So of course I'm googling "hiatal hernias" but pretty sure I just have paranoia ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hi, everyone. I've been feeling sooooooooo tired recently. It's reassuring to read that others are feeling it, too. Second trimester was so wonderful -- I had so much energy!! Now that I'm entering the third, I'm starting to notice how taxing the extra weight is on my buddy. Usually, exercise helps with the fatigue, but I think I've been over-doing it because I'm finding myself completely dead.
For back pain and hip pain, walking and prenatal yoga have been really helpful to me.
@maureenmce The kicks and tumbles should get less intense as baby grows and has less room. But then we get to enjoy things like butts and feet in the ribs.
@maureenmce I read somewhere that the movement is most intense weeks 24-28 since he will start to run out of room soon, so hopefully they don’t become too uncomfortable!
@mamajudec2018 That could be pregnancy induced carpel tunnel. It’s a b. Did your doctor check your fluid yet?
*start TMI I think I finally got my constipation under control after adding milk of magnesia. Whoever recommended it, thank you! End TMI*
Terrible tension headaches last few days. I'm hoping it's related to the big presentation at work tomorrow and I'll start to feel better. I am also looking into chiropractor in case it does not get better (did someone mention Webster trained chiro specifically for pregnancy or am I hallucinating?)
I love that you all have name for your pillow forts - hoping to build one soon. I think my current pillow doesn't have enough support which makes my neck/shoulder tension worse.
@mamajudec2018 any update on the numbness you had on your face? Sorry you're dealing with swelling now!! I did notice my feet seemed to be a little swollen the other day, but not too bad yet.
@maureenmce I keep trying to remember how much I was feeling DS at this point. With him I had an anterior placenta though and didn't feel anything until 22 weeks, so I'm thinking I'm definitely feeling more this time around. But yes, they've definitely been getting stronger lately!! I'm not really looking forward to the butt and feet in my ribcage though lol.
I don't know if this is symptom or not, but it's a belly size milestone. I went to do some grooming in the shower this evening and couldn't see my bits! Not even when i tried to move my belly out of the way to get a glimpse. I can still see my toes.... For now.
@katy0990 I'm thinking it's carpel tunnel like you said. Not fun at all. Luckily, I am not working right now or that would be miserable. Yes, they checked my fluid and said it looked good. I made sure to specifically ask about it.
@CecilB93 The numbness is still there and honestly me and my doc have just decided until baby comes, there's really nothing that can be done. I've noticed about once a day for like 10 or 15 minutes part of my tongue and roof of my mouth also go numb but the feeling always comes back. It just seems so early to be experiencing such extreme swelling but apparently my body just reacts weird to pregnancy!
@morgantu Ha! I just passed that milestone too. When I got out of the shower, I tell DH “It happened ” He just laughed.

Add me to the list @maureenmce. This baby is getting strong and likes practicing his punches and kicks. I don’t mind them so much when they are aimed outward, because it’s sort of fun to watch and I have nothing going on all day anyway. But every once in a while he aims inward and downward. Which basically just feels like a shock to my crotch.

For back pain and hip pain, walking and prenatal yoga have been really helpful to me.
Hang in there, mamas!!
Also waiting for reflux to hit
@maureenmce I keep trying to remember how much I was feeling DS at this point. With him I had an anterior placenta though and didn't feel anything until 22 weeks, so I'm thinking I'm definitely feeling more this time around. But yes, they've definitely been getting stronger lately!! I'm not really looking forward to the butt and feet in my ribcage though lol.
DS2 due 12/12/18
@CecilB93 The numbness is still there and honestly me and my doc have just decided until baby comes, there's really nothing that can be done. I've noticed about once a day for like 10 or 15 minutes part of my tongue and roof of my mouth also go numb but the feeling always comes back. It just seems so early to be experiencing such extreme swelling but apparently my body just reacts weird to pregnancy!
