@notthecheat I'm jealous you could have sushi. Sushi was my favorite pre-pregnancy, and the thought of it is just so unappealing right now. I will live vicariously through you.
@notthecheat I just actually was able to get referred to another place that is just 30 minutes away! So I get to have my AS on my birthday when I will be 19 weeks! I’m very excited!!
I also am envious of your sushi. Mmmmm. But I’m glad you feel better!
Sushi sounds amazing in theory, but salmon makes me hurl and I don’t feel like a sushi platter is complete without salmon on it. Also my aversion is probably to fish in general, and I don’t want to try and find out. Maybe some veggie sushi is in order sometime this week though.

My DD turns 3 on Monday and starts Preschool part time on Tuesday. Today she had her Trial visit and I parked at starbucks for the entire time she was there sobbing into my coffee. Of course she was fine.
I am just nervous because I am French and my DH is English, we speak English at home 90% of the time and I likely failed at introducing her more to French. My mom and MIL speak to her in French so I know she understands a little but not a whole lot. Since she will be attending a French school we decided to enroll her in a French preschool. They keep telling me she will be okay but I can't help but be anxious that she won't understand or just won't talk the entire time.
TL;DR It was my DD trial visit at new French preschool and I am having all the feels.
PS. I seriously wish I could go get a bottle of wine and drink my feelings away.
@ venessa88 if it makes you feel any better, I grew up in a 100% English home and then went to french school starting from kindergarten and I was fiiiiine. And now my nieces and nephews are all in the same boat as your daughter and they've all adjusted extremely well. Kids are sponges for languages!

Ah thank you thank you! This has helped me a lot. I get the odd person that makes a ridiculous comment about our decision. This makes me feel like it's definitely not the wrong decision. My first language was French and so I have so self reference as to if this was REALLY the right decision. But being in a Bilingual province French is going to be super important for her to have.
@Venessa88 & @becks_726 if we all stay connected in this group for a few years, I’ll have to pick your brains about raising bilingual kids. I want my kid(s) to speak Norwegian since it’s my native language, but H doesn’t speak a word of it and there are no Norwegian schools around here. Luckily Seattle is very proud of its Norwegian heritage so I know I’ll find someone or somewhere to maybe help me out (I know @kayjay44 speaks Norwegian too for instance!). I figure it’ll be pretty hard for me on a daily basis though, since I’m the only Norwegian speaker in the family on this continent!

@grebretso - there are definitely some options to use and practice it in the Seattle area. I'd like to work on mine (it's pretty rusty) so I can teach my kids - DH speaks some Swedish, but I really don't care if he picks it up. I was also once almost fluent in Spanish and have lost so much of it not using it (I took 8 years of Spanish and lived with a non-English speaking family in Costa Rica before college). I'd like my kids to be bilingual, but I don't have the time or energy now.
@kayjay44 I totally understand not having the time or energy to teach it. It’s HARD! Languages just fade away if you don’t use them regularly, so I’m really worried I’ll end up giving up. My main reason for wanting to teach any future kids Norwegian is my mom, whose English is fine but not great. It would break her heart to not be able to communicate with her grandchildren as well as she’d like to. Lots of Skype sessions are in order for sure!

My kid is almost 4 and just now getting some Spanglish going. I can read it, H speaks it so between us we’re fluent. I’d love to get her into immersion classes.
My DS is 3 in October and he’s starting nursery school next week full time. I’m nervous because he’s very new to being potty trained and he does ok but still struggles with getting his pants/undies up and down. I also worry if s will go by himself but my mom who is a principal and teacher of over 30 years assures me he will be ok that the teachers take them a lot etc. I think he will love school as he loves playing with other little kids...I feel mostly okay sending him but we will see what happens on the first day! Haha
@grebretso yes! French is my second language and at this point I'm a touch rusty but still fluent. DH knows a little bit of French. My ideal plan is for me to speak French 100% of the time at home, DH can answer as he wishes and he'll speak to the baby in English. I know that'll take some adjustment but I think we can do it. My sister is currently doing something similar with her 18 month old except her partner is the French one. Even though he is only there 50% of the time, she can already adjust to her audience. It's incredible to watch! I'm currently debating between a super convenient English daycare and less convenient French one but we will definitely send our kids to french school as of kindergarten. We both grew up in Quebec so I would hate for my kids to not be able to go there and be comfortable.
@becks_726 That’s my plan too, try to speak Norwegian 100% of the time to the kid while H speaks English. H won’t understand a word of what I’m saying, but he’ll just have to deal. That’s what he gets for marrying a dirty foreigner!

Yes to raising bilingual kiddos! My husband is a native Spanish speaker, but I am bilingual in French/English so I am not quite sure what we are going to do, probably DH will speak in Spanish and I will speak in English but I really want my kid to be able to speak French, too. We shall see, I know it's a lot of work.
@okayestmom12 - I've been eyeing that one. I'm definitely going to need another RS. I'm leaning modal WB since I already have a solid and a double chambray.
The Bump informs me that today my baby is the same size as a grande iced coffee, and I have so many questions. Isn’t a grande iced coffee the same size as a grande regular coffee? Do you think Starbucks paid them for product placement? And, can I drink my baby? Because I could Really use a cup of coffee right now.
MIL lives with us her italian is getting rusty but i told h hes going to have to break it to her that she can only speak italian to the baby... lol. Well see how that goes over!
Pregnancy pillow arrived today and we got aquainted with a 3 hour nap this afternoon.
I thought it would be a good idea to wash the case before i used it... i slept with it sans case while it washed. Anywho im not sure if that case will ever see the washer again. I just got a full 15 min workout trying to put that shit back on it!! I even busted a sweat!! And im only 17 weeks at this point wth.

My A/S is next week and I think I'm going to do something for grandparents day (Sep 9th) since I haven't announced to my family yet.
