Had my ultrasound this morning, and everything looked basically the same as last week. Except, baby was breech this time, and during the procedure we could actually see him sticking his wee toes down in the the top of the funneling part of my cervix. Which means that the sac also is extending down into my cervix. Which is no bueno. They said it's super unlikely that the baby is going to cause any issues by having his feet down there, but the situation is risky in and of itself. SO they are keeping me here for another week to see what happens. Apparently if things are still stable next week, then they may send me home then, but we'll see.
Oh no @hkom I am so sorry. I am glad you're in good hands and being monitored, but it sucks you have to stay there! We have the same due date, if I recall, right? So you're 25 weeks tomorrow? I hope you're hanging in there okay and that your husband can bring you a special treat or something to cheer you up. Hugs!
@maureenmce Yes, 25 tomorrow! The situation certainly isn't as bad as it could be. I'm allowed to sit up in bed whenever I want and get our of bed to grab something or use the bathroom. So I don't have to be completely horizontal all the time, which means I can actually do things, including work.
H has been bringing me all kinds of goodies from home, and we are having a Korean takeout date tonight
Boo! I was really hoping they'd cut you loose. I'm sorry you're stuck there for another week. At least you know that baby is in good hands. Hang in there.
@hkom Sucks - but happy that you're being watched. Enjoy your date...because now I want bibimbap with all of the red danger sauce

@hkom like everyone else I'm sorry you have to stay in the hospital another week but I'm also glad you and LO are being monitored and in good hands. That's great that your H has been bringing you things from home, you said you had pets right? I had read somewhere that more and more hospitals are allowing patients who are admitted for extended amounts of time to have in-hospital visits with their pets. Could be worth asking about!
I'm so sorry you are in there another week! I would definitely have a love/hate relationship with that. Being watched in this situation I'd love, but I would hate being stuck there. I hope next week brings better news!
@ab_canada Thank you SO MUCH but you guys don't need to worry about anything like that Between my husband, my mom, and my dad, I've been getting lots of treats!
*ETA: The nurses are now bringing me things as well
@hkom sorry to hear you’re not cleared to go home, but under the circumstances, congrats on every day that passes keeping baby inside cooking! Glad you are not super restricted while you’re there and enjoy your Korean food date!
@hkom Definitely not the update we were hoping for, but I'm glad your medical professionals are being super careful! Enjoy your Korean food tonight and hopefully after this week stays stable, you'll get to go home!
Aww I’m so sorry you don’t get to go home, but at least you and baby are in great hands and being looked after. Hopefully all remains stable/improves and you get to go home soon!!

@hkom Ah man, that's a huge bummer. I am glad everyone is taking good care of you, and bonus that you have family in the area! Hopefully this week flies by for you, and you are cleared and discharged sooner than later.
Ugh That is suuuuper shitty. I’m sorry you’re stuck there another week, but I’m glad you and baby are safe and they’re being cautious. Sending all the positive, healthy vibes!
@hkom I'm so glad you're getting spoiled and don't have too many restrictions! Mmm, enjoy your Korean food...now I'm craving all the kimchi, chapchae, bibimbap and gochujang!
@hkom sorry to hear this. Glad to hear your support system is pulling through though with the snacks In case misery enjoys company, I might be taking up residence at my hospital starting next week for about a month. Will they let you out if baby changes position and is no longer pushing into the funnel? The way my situation was explained to me is that proximity to the hospital is key to better birth outcomes in early preterm births (<28weeks). So my hospital offers the residency at their ‘hotel’ to anyone presenting with a short cervix after viability and before 28 weeks. It’s voluntary but I think I’m going to do it.
@barristerninja Oh my gosh a whole month!! I'm so sorry! That residency program sounds nice though. We don't have that here, I'm just in a regular hospital delivery room. They said even if he's still down there next week if nothing happens between now and then hopefully that means the situation is somewhat stable and they would feel more comfortable sending me home. He flips around sooo much so hopefully he'll get out of there soon! The proximity thing is why they decided to keep me. I only live about 15-20 minutes from the hospital, so if something did happen it's not like I have to drive for an hour, but it's still safer for us to be here.
@kadeephd Girl kimchi jigae is my #1 go-to in the winter! I opted for dolsot bibimbap and pajeon today though.
@hkom what a bummer! Sorry you're stuck for another week, but it seems you're being very well taken care of. That baby of yours better stay out of trouble! I hope you enjoyed your Korean. I'm glad they didn't give you spicy food restrictions, since, you know, spicy food supposedly brings on labor! Spicy squid and rice is my favorite Korean go to. Just had it last week.
@hkom I'm just now seeing this. So sorry you're having to stay another week, but so grateful that they're being so cautious with everything!! Glad to hear baby look so okay. I hope you sync least get to go home soon! I can't imagine bed rest is enjoyable in general, but I imagine being home would make it slightly better at least! Glad to hear you're being spoiled while you're there though!
I would be VERY stabby if they told me I couldn't have spicy food!
+1

The doctor did a manual cervix check this morning and I am apparently about 1 cm dilated. I haven't had any other signs or symptoms of labor, but they want to keep me here in case I do start feeling something so they can address it immediately. I'll probably be here until at least 28 weeks
@hkom Wow. I’m sorry you have to stay (3?) more weeks, but I’m glad you are receiving great care. Has your cervix changed or is that the first time they checked you?
