I started have contractions at 29 weeks with my last pregnancy. It felt worse than when I actually ended up giving birth at 40 weeks. But I had to stay in the hospital too and be pumped with medicine to help calm everything down. But let me tell you, those meds work! Finally when I was released, I felt sooo much better! Seriously so thankful for the technology they have these days.

Hey friends! I'm still here, sorry about being somewhat unresponsive! I slept terribly and my meds are killer this morning for whatever reason, so I've kinda just been laying here and dozing when I can, and actually trying to get a small emergency thing out to my dad for work, which has been slow going but I'm finally done with it. They just gave me a shot of anti nausea medicine so hopefully that makes me feel better. I get to just hang out for the rest of the day. H gets here later this afternoon after a work meeting and he'll hang with me here all evening.
They are still trying to figure out the very mild and irregular "contractions" that the monitor is picking up.
Popping by to send all the good thoughts your way. Glad you're being monitored so closely, even if a hospital stay is no bueno. And while I definitely hope baby stays put for a few more months, three cheers for having hit that viability milestone already. Everything is going to be okay in the long run
@hkom Don't apologize at all for not responding right away! You're in the hospital! We're happy to get any updates we get and, echoing others, please do let us know if there's anything we can do to help. Even silly things like compiling tv/movie/book recs you might enjoy or anything else you can think of. Sending you all my good thoughts re: your hospital stay.
@hkom hope your afternoon is turning around! As hard and uncomfortable as it is being there try to take advantage of this time and kick your feet up, sleep when you feel like it and try to relax. We're here to keep you company and help whatever way we can!
@hkom So how’s the hospital’s food so far? Is YH having to bring in outside snacks to supplement?

Thanks guys! I've been keeping myself pretty well entertained with the TV and I've even been able to get some work done. H brought me books from home and some friends sent me some crosswords!
They took me off continuous monitoring for the contractions. The doctor thinks it looks mostly like just irritability and not actual labor contractions. So they will just monitor me and baby for a few half hour stints every day. So nice to not have that thing strapped to me constantly.
@echo-charlietango It's actually not terrible! Pretty mundane stuff, but it's actually things I don't mind eating. I had a pretty decent grilled ham and cheese yesterday and a quesadilla today. Breakfast was surprisingly decent too, although all I got was yogurt, muffin, and a ton of fruit. Although I am currently dying for a lemonade or something similar. Hopefully a visitor will show up soon and I can send them on a mission.
I can't remember if we have a hospital bag thread yet or not, but anyone paying attention to this, especially FTMs, definitely bring your own pillow(s) from home. Like this is non-negotiable. I can't believe how much of a difference it made for me sleep-wise last night and just for comfort in general being in this bed all the time. Bring a wedge pillow if you have one too. If you dont have one, get one (I have the little Boppy one I got for like $15 on Amazon). So versatile. Bump and back support in bed. Between your knees. Even for things like back support in a chair or car.
I m 21 week .. i underwent cerclage after having U shape funneling and cervix length 2.9 cm in 19 week ultrasound... i was in hospital for 3 days... Though i m at home now but on complete Bed rest except up for bathroom priveleges.. have to take meals only by sitting slanting with pillows...i saw mild thick mucus discharge daily... Little scare ...Me hopefull... i think being positive is only solution...
@snugglyduckling25 I'm not sure I would call it "good" sleep! I was still awake from about 12am to 4am. But better than the night before. The nurses were nice enough to not wake me up this morning for vitals and just let me sleep til about 830
They should be coming in any minute to take me off the worst of the medicine. And I get to take a real shower today! Yay!!
Talked to the doc this morning. Everything still looks fine, but they want to keep me over the weekend I would have to come back Monday anyway for anothr cervical screening, so I guess it keeps me from potentially having to do this process all over again next week. But still. I want to go home and snuggle with H in my own bed.
@texas_t It's too late for a cerclage unfortunately. Their cutoff is around 24 weeks. And my cervix was funneled so far down they probably wouldn't have been able to get one in effectively anyway.
@hkom If it's too late for a cerclage, what is the plan when you leave the hospital? Also, I'm sorry you have to stay the weekend too. Hopefully you'll get to go home after your cervical screening Monday!
@hkom I hope you are freed after the weekend/Monday! I wish there was a better way to give your cervix a stern talking to. Hopefully those smooth muscle relaxers will do the trick, and you can bed rest at home. FX!

@hkom I hope you’re feeling better and ++ thank goodness this was caught and you’re being monitored.
Can’t believe I missed all of this while I was going through something very similar. Hospital admission, short cervix, mild contractions and I’m now officially on modified bed rest and taking progesterone to ward off early labour. I really feel for you. All this stuff is stressful enough without the multi day hospital stay.
Stay positive and watch the heck out of some Netflix this weekend. That’s what I plan on doing!
@barristerninja Hey stranger, glad to see you back - but sorry that you’re having similar issues.

@barristerninja I'm so sorry you're dealing with this too! And don't worry, you're not hijacking anything! Maybe this can become the official bed rest thread instead of just being about me
@barristerninja Oh no, I'm sorry you're dealing with cervix issues too! Hope the modified bedrest isn't too annoying and that the progesterone does its job!
