Re: General Registry Thread

  • @westcoastfoodie I’m glad I’m not the only one who found baby washcloths to be worthless. Like...I have washcloths. Whatever. We do still use the hooded towel just because it’s a walrus and it’s super cute. I wish they would come in larger sizes because it’s def too small for my son now.

  • @PensiveCrayon you can get some in bigger sizes! My son has a paw patrol one that is bigger then some of the towels I have! He loves it!

as for wash cloths I do like to have some since I found them to be softer but I bought a pack of really cheap ones (these are great if baby gets and eye infection etc so you can use 2 as not to spread) and then one 4 pack of higher quality ones we still use for him.
  • Re: washcloths I used them a lot instead of disposable wipes, but our normal ones are at least 10 years old and are far from soft.
  • Also - not sure if I mentioned on this thread or not
Any moms getting a csection go buy the belly bandit immediately. It helped keep everything "in" after surgery. I didn't feel like my guts were falling out and I could easily walk up and down stairs, lift things and feel like a normal person. It also help your uterus go back to it's normal size faster and your organs go back into place fast so I dropped back to my normal size faster.
It was worth every dime to feel so normal after surgery.
I wore it 24/7 unless I was showering for about 6-8 weeks (until it was too big)

@kristah2 Is that the same as the band they give you at the hospital or is it better? I also wore that thing for at least 6 weeks after birth.
@PensiveCrayon They have bigger hooded towels on amazon.
  • Ohhh yes to the belly bandit! I wasn’t even a c section mom, but the feeling after giving birth was... weird. Everything felt so jiggly and this is going to sound weird and maybe tmi, but it felt like everything inside was “out of place”. It was probably more for my psychological comfort, lol, but I ran out and got one ASAP.

  • @katy0990 I never got one in the hospital so I'm not sure. I would assume better as they can be expensive but I don't know for sure.
@westcoastfoodie I definitely see how it would make you feel better even after a vaginal birth! It really does hold everything in and give you some confidence.
(Especially after the shock of delivering and realizing you still look about 6 months pregnant lol)
  • @kristah2 I’ll have to look at them to compare. My hospital gives a binder to c-section moms and I cannot imagine recovery without it! I hated when it was in the washer and I couldn’t have it on.
  • @kristah2 which belly bandit do you have? The original? It seems like they have a lot of different options and I have no sense of how to tell what’s best.
  • @Katzalia I do have the original (https://bellybandit.com/collections/belly-wraps/products/original-belly-wrap?variant=51315694726) and I found it good!
My cousin splurged more and got the BFF (https://bellybandit.com/collections/belly-wraps/products/bff-wrap?variant=51315737350) and she preferred that one.
But I think you would probably be fine with the original.
I found the sizing good. I might even order a size down for when this one gets too big again because last time I didn't feel ready to take it off.
Also - I hate the Canadian dollar. I wish mine was just $50!

    @kristah2 thanks, that’s very helpful!

I hear you on the special Canadian pricing. It’s not just the exchange rate, either. We have family in Canada and every time we’re up there, I have sticker shock over the difference in price.  Like 2-4x the price on so many things.
