My my company has 35 employees and no ranking system. My boss, the owner of the company, is everybody’s direct boss. We also have no employee evaluation system, he believes he sees and knows everything that goes on, but he has no clue. He’ll also take people’s word for everything.
Before I started here, an employee was fired because they discovered he’d done nothing at all for two whole years. His job was to obtain permits for construction jobs, he lied and said the permits were “right around the corner” for months, until someone finally decided to look into it and discovered he hadn’t even applied. A bunch of jobs were put on hold an the company lost a lot of customers and money. Did the owner learn his lesson? Nope!

@grebretso how does she not at least know to lie? In my early 20s I was lots of times the lazy asshole who showed up late to work because I wanted to keep sitting on my ass in my pajamas, but I always had the common sense to make up a good excuse. Or even just to go awol and apologize for it later. To straight up TELL YOU that she’s late because she couldn’t find anything to wear?!? I feel like that’s just insulting. Like, can’t she at least value your time enough to feel ashamed?
@jessier19 She doesn’t know how to lie! It’s really weird. I think she’s being open with me because I’m nice to her. In a way I appreciate her honesty, because I have a tendency to be a little gullible sometimes. It’s not like I’m going to go tattle to the boss, but I don’t think I’ll recommend her as my replacement while I’m gone. He wants to have her replace me because I’ll have a lot of time to train her, rather than hiring a more experienced temp later on, but we’ll see...

@grebretso I can understand appreciating the honesty. I have the opposite tendency, tending to be too cynical instead. Like, if she told me she was out all the time because of migraines, I might secretly wonder if she was just being lazy. That's a really problematic tendency for me personally, because I actually get terrible chronic migraines, and then I worry that everyone thinks I'm just being lazy.
I'm a teacher, and when my students skip class or miss an assignment "because my grandmother just died" I'm always nice about it and always give them the extension, but in my own head I wonder if that same grandmother has died 6 times before in other classes. It leaves me feeling taken advantage of, which isn't the greatest attitude for me to have toward my students.
A chick in my GD FB group put a Snapchat filter to make the eyes bigger and skin smoother on her newborn’s pic. Especially with the other pics it was super obvious. Everyone kept commenting on how beautiful her eyes were. She was perfectly beautiful with her wrinkles and non cartoon eyes. I don’t understand people.

@megpants209 She’s 23, and has no previous front desk experience. Still though, I don’t feel like age or experience should have much to say when it comes to showing up to work on time. Her organizational skills could also use some improvement, but she’s very articulate and great with customers on the phone, so at least she’s got that part down.

ALSO we did this health screening thing at work today to get a discount on our health insurance. I told the nurse I'm pregnant (because you're supposed to fast 8 hours prior for the cholesterol reading and I definitely did not) so she said my numbers would be all off and that I should be sure our insurance rep knows that so I don't get bad marks for having screwy numbers. All my numbers (except waist circumference) were totally normal. Even my cholesterol was fine after my chicken biscuit breakfast. Soooooooo I think it's all a scam and they just pick random people to have bad numbers. Because there's no way my numbers are in a healthy range.
@grebretso in a past world, yes, 23 year olds had a sense of work responsibility but a lot hasn’t changed lol. I find that a lot of these young twenty somethings just starting out can be SO clueless. Not all of course but yikes I’ve encountered quite a few
I dunno, I know a lot of youngsters with great work ethic! I think it's more her personality type, you get them in every generation. There's another lady at work who doesn't come in until 11 am, and she's in her 50's. It inconveniences a lot of people, but the boss is okay with it because she's consistent. Oh well.

@grebretso No, I agree with you! I mean your boss cutting her so much slack isn’t doing her any favors. I assume at some point she will want to change companies and she’s going to be totally unprepared for a real place! I hate people giving excuses based on age. Work is work and it doesn’t matter if you’re 20 or 50.
On a positive note, I ordered a grey sleeper to use as a “take home outfit” for baby that I hoped would match the two hats I ordered (one for a girl and one for a boy). It’s the *perfect* shade of grey.
My current practice won't deliver this baby. So I need to switch to another practice. Current practice said to call the new practice to see when I need to switch by. Lady at new practice would not give me a deadline but said "as soon as possible." So I told the old practice and asked them to fax over my records now because new practice won't schedule an appointment until they have my records.
Every fucking time I talk to someone at the old practice about getting my records faxed over/check in on the process they tell me "Most practices have you switch at/by 20 weeks" implying that I shouldn't be asking to transfer yet. IDGAF, I asked to have my records faxed now, they should be faxed! It's been two weeks since I first requested. This is exactly why I started this process well BEFORE 20 weeks, I knew I was going to get this BS. I wanted to avoid this in the first place and just go to the new practice from the beginning but no, new practice wouldn't schedule me unless I got some BS "proof of pregnancy" extra labs first. Fuck that. It's like I have to deal with shit no matter what.

Insomnia + a husband who won’t stop snoring makes me ragey. Finally moved from the bedroom to the living room at 3:30a with some toast (because I am now obviously starving) and my DVR. Hello Live PD!
@okayestmom12 I threw a pillow at my husband around 3 because of the snoring. It did get him to stop long enough for me to fall asleep and a have disturbing dream
