Re: Randoms 8/6-8/12

  • @maggiemadeit do your best to relax. Hopefully this time tomorrow you will be that much more confident in your pregnancy. FX for a good scan.

  • @LElkCot - thanks! I warned her and she was quick with the suction to keep me from gagging. Stuff didn’t taste great but it went quickly. Happy to report no puking!

  • Another random thought for today...
I'll be spending most of Saturday & Sunday with both of my parents or at least my Mom and I'm not sure that I'm going to tell them yet. They have been so weird really since DD was born and I'm just not ready for their reaction yet? I would hope it would be good but with the "stress" of my brother getting married in October I don't know when a good time to tell them is. Obviously I'll tell them before we make a grand announcement but I'm really leaning towards how long can I go without telling them? I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow.
  • @maggiemadeit yay!!!

@meggyme that definitely sounds like a good idea to tell them sooner rather than later so they can make some accommodations for you.

I got the DQ blizzard of the month email and now I need the DQ blizzard of the month. I have never had cravings this early. Are you a girl, baby Gee #3?!
  • Also, I’m eating a frozen uncrustable because I’m too impatient to wait for it to defrost.
  • @meggyme I'm wanting to tell work soon, too! Last pregnancy, I told them at around 8 wks because my MS was so bad. Is your supervisor a man or a woman? I find it's so much easier with a female boss, for whatever reason.
  • We installed security cameras around different parts of the house after a bizarre encounter I had last week. My husband has the motion detected alerts sent to his phone. He usually complains about a chipmunk. He just sent me a video of a bunny rabbit hopping up to the camera, sniffing it, and bolting. It was so freaking cute!

I am not looking forward to telling work about my pregnancy because my new supervisor is a man, and I had a woman before. We have weekly team meetings, so I will probably announce to everyone at one of those. I'm working on a plan now of what I do daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly, and who I think should cover what. I'll probably schedule a sit down with my supervisor and his boss with a plan to make sure we are all on the same page. The last thing I want is for something to fall through the cracks and have to do an accounting task at home while sleep deprived. That's just asking for trouble.
  • @kateemgeethesequel now I need to know, what’s the blizzard of the month?!?
  • @lindseyb918 definitely a male supervisor. He’s been surprisingly flexible with me working from home when my daughter gets sick or her daycare is closed, but finding a bit of busy work here and there is different than finding a new position for me for 7-8 more months AND filling my spot on rather short notice.

The other problem is we are hoping to be moving back to California next summer, but don’t yet have orders, so depending on when/if we’d be moving I might not return to the same job. TBD if I’d stay the company or not.

  • @kateemgeethesequel And Now I NEED that blizzard ...
  • @kateemgeethesequel OMG. I have been knocking back a cookie dough blizzard WEEKLY this pregnancy..... it needs to stop but I’m afraid after this convo it’s not stopping just yet.....
  • @kateemgeethesequel I oddly prefer my Uncrustables to be slightly frozen.

  • So, I have great insurance, but I have a high-deductible plan.

I called the NIPT companies  InformaSeq and Harmony to find out how much the tests would be for me with my deductible. Harmony was going to be $600 something and InformaSeq was going to be over $700.

BUT, InformaSeq is going to charge me $299 for signing up for a survey to complete after. I just wanted to put this option out there for anyone interested in options.

Also, if your insurance won’t cover Harmony, they will only charge you $200 according to my OB.
  • @Lbloom  go to a pet store and get natures miracle stain and odor remover or whatever it is called.  We have 2 doggies who still sometimes have accidents in the house and this is a LIFESAVER for both urine and poop accidents!  It works for doggie accidents on furniture and carpet I know it will work for human accidents

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers

    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers

    Babysizer Geeky Pregnancy Tracker
  • @kateemgeethesequel I’m definitely going to need that today!!
  • So this is random. My daughter had a nightmare last night so I woke to the sound of her crying, and I felt that rush of let-down in my boobs! Quite certain there is no milk in there (yet), but I guess they are already practicing. It was so unexpected! She weaned well over a year ago!
  • I started so many projects before getting pregnant. Seriously, since moving into a house last year, its been constant projects. Now I've got a bunch of half done things. Like, our entryway wainscoting is about 50% finished. Maybe like 30... The smell of liquid nails made me too nauseous to keep working. Gallery wall art bought, but not even close to being put up. Office = just a room of clutter, after finishing skimcoating two horribly textured walls (only 2/4 walls textured, it was odd). There are so many other things. I just don't have the energy to finish anything. Maybe when this morning sickness passes. I know nothing gets easier when there is a new baby plus a toddler running around...
  • I feel like the ''this week, your baby is the size of a ..." are all over the map. I get that fruit is not a great standard of measurement but some weeks I look at the baby summary and think "that's smaller than last week!" or "you're telling me my baby is 'double the size of last week' but the same size as a fruit that is barely bigger than last week's"
  • Also, I recently learned that it is a bad idea to watch animal documentaries while pregnant. The animal world is so cruel to the babies.
  • @maggiemadeit I've been thinking my nipples look oily lately, like when I had colostrum last pregnancy. Haven't felt any let-downs yet though.

@litzi-2 I had some crazy burst of energy the week before I got my bfp so I started ripping out the bushes in our front yard. I managed one more weekend of pulling them out after the bfp before exhaustion and queasiness (and heat, and humidity) hit, so now I have a half naked landscape in front. I'm also hoping for a second wind after first tri.

I’ve been reading them to my husband. Wednesday was the size of a pop tab and yesterday was the size of a tater tot and now today it’s the size of a water bottle top. When I told him he or she was the size of a tater tot and he was confused that they could double in size over night. Then today’s size  added even more confusion. They must be using super small tater tots for comparison.

We have two sleeping beauties in heaven.
Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016.
Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015.
They will be forever missed. <3

  • I just had to unbutton my pants after lunch... I was proud of myself for actually eating today! And yesterday after work my toodler ran up to me and said “baby!!!” Putting his hands on my belly. In his defense my belly popped big time last night! Thankfully it was back down to “normal” today...
