Well I'll kick it off by saying I was feeling pretty good, haven't had nausea in weeks. A little insomnia but not too crazy yet. Some cramping but again, manageable. But this morning I was eating yogurt with a bunch of cut fruit in it and was on the last bite when I got a blueberry that tasted "funny", I proceeded to projectile vomit the entire thing. Like my body instantaneously was like "omg get it out, GET IT OUT"

    so there's that...

    ETA: I'm 18 weeks today
  • Loading the player...
  • Yeah, my nausea has just taken on new life in the past two weeks instead of slowly easing off (14 wks).  My hip/back is still plaguing me, but started at the chiropractor yesterday, so hopefully that will be remedied soon. A little worried that I haven't felt any baby movement yet... but I know it's early and I am a FTM. Have a Dr. appt today at 1p and nervous as always to know that everything is ok. It's been a long time since I've made it this far (TW: 4th pregnancy, longest was 20wks, but that was 8 years ago) so I feel like I don't know what I'm doing or what to expect anymore.

    Andrea -- FTM at 39!

  • @jgil85 +1 to the acne... Like, full body acne. My chest has been breaking out like crazy, which didn't even happen when I was 16!

Feeling good aside from lower back pains, mostly if I stand too long. Now that I have more energy (thank god) and the temperature looks to be dipping back into 70s, hoping that more frequent walks and general activity will help with that. Also didn't someone say you were supposed to get a break from frequent urination? Usually I have a bladder of steel, but like clockwork I get up every single night to pee. All in all, feeling like I can't complain compared to first tri! But I will take that glowing skin stat.
  • @wkuandrea I’m a FTM, too and didn’t feel movement until 16 weeks when I felt a few taps, then nothing until 17 weeks. I’m now 17+4 and have been feeling baby every day, multiple times a day for a few minutes at a time. Having said that, I asked my OB at my 15 week appointment when I should start feeling movement and she told me anywhere from 15 weeks on for a FTM, but not to be alarmed if I don’t feel anything until 24-26 weeks, as some just don’t feel movement right away.

17+4 today. I’ve been feeling pretty good morning sickness wise. I still get sick, but not nearly as often, maybe once a day. I have been dealing with headaches a lot in the last week, but so far they haven’t really been anything more than annoying. My groin area is really sore, like it feels as though I’ve been riding a bike all day or got kicked there. Other than that, just insomnia, but I had that before I was pregnant, so I don’t really think it’s a pregnancy symptom.
  • Still feeling sick mostly all day every day (but not puking anywhere near as much as my first pregnancy, so I'm calling it a win). Still exhausted. And my back hurts already. :D So I'm definitely that glowing second tri goddess. :D At this point, I'm convinced I just don't have that stage of pregnancy in me.

My cystic acne that I had a few weeks ago has cleared up but oddly enough I have a break out in my arm pit? How bizarre is that? Pregnancy is weird...
  • @KLS123 did you shave them recently? My skin has been so sensitive to shaving. Which reminds me to NEVER shave/get a Brazilian when pregnant. I'm already sensitive to ingrowns down there, but with pregnancy I'd probably get a full blown breakout/rash. Thank you, trimmers!
  • 16 weeks. Nausea. Fatigue. Food Aversions. I feel like the first trimester went away for two weeks and then came back. Not feeling any discernible movement yet. Sometimes I think I feel something, but then I  question whether or not its just gas. I'll have to ask about placental position at the next US.

  • @kianarain yeah I shave my armpits like every 3 days or so. It probably is sensitive to that but just super weird that it is just one side
  • @KLS123 hey I live in Portland so I had to ask :joy: ugh agreed pregnancy is weird lol
  • OMG and the hair everywhere! I feel like a hairy beast all the time. My leg and arm hair are out of control. I remember during my last pregnancy, I would go 10 days without shaving. Now, I can barely go 3 days without looking like I have man legs.

+1 for the hair growth (wanted and unwanted). Also getting more of those fun chin hairs that sprout up overnight and are somehow already 1" long.

Overall feeling pretty swell though. I've been feeling the baby for a week or two (17 weeks tomorrow), which is so fun. Still ticklish. No big pains or complaints, other than a little RLP and dizziness if I get up too quickly.

I have the most awful pregsomnia though, arghhhh. Every night I'll be lying awake, mulling over the day and thinking about random things. Not really in an anxious way, just UP, and benadryl is losing its effectiveness. Also I don't really like sleeping on my side. My midwife suggested getting into a really good bedtime routine and making it a priority every day.

It's my birthday weekend and DH is taking me to a local hotel. I'm hoping for a special kind of action and want to neaten the area up. I'm scared to wax because it's supposed to be a lot more painful. But I'm also scared to shave cause I always get bumps. And I read you can't use nair type-stuff now. I just need to neaten things up mainly. Any suggestions? Sorry for hijacking the symptoms post in to me trying to get some but people are talking about body hair, so ya know.

@greenhillgirl trimmers are my best friend rn! I get horrible ingrown hairs w/both waxing and shaving, so it's kinda my only option. If you take the guard off it gets pretty close (like maybe 2 days post-shave close), you just have to be kinda careful. I always end up in 2-3 positions to make sure I'm getting all the weird spots. But pain-free and nearly hairless, plus no bumps/ingrowns.

Tailbone pain, back pain, aversions, exhaustion.

Still an easier pregnancy than with DD, so I will take it!

Chicken aversion is sort of back, which isn't convenient. Hopefully it doesn't linger.
I've had weird nausea lately, this time AFTER eating, which is strange. Someone suggested tums, and at first I thought that was a strange idea because it doesn't feel like heart burn, but I tried it and the nausea went away immediately. I think that maybe I'm producing extra acid or something and it's upsetting my stomach?? Who knows.
Heart burn is here in FULL FORCE. I had really bad heart burn with DD, but I thought it started later. Tums bottle now at work, in my car, in my purse, and at home. I'm covered.

  • 19 weeks 2 days. I’ve been feeling the baby move A LOT. He’s getting stronger so I should be able to feel outward kicks any day now. I love feeling him move but sometimes he’s Lord of the Dance in there. I’ve also been feeling a little short of breath but it could be the smoke in the air. My belly is definitely getting bigger, harder, and heavier. It might be time to bust out the support belt soon.

Anyone have remedies for constipation? I haven’t pooped in 3 days! I’ve been taking extra magnesium but it hasn’t really helped. It’s a suppliment you mix in water then drink. The serving size is two teaspoons but I started with one teaspoon. I feel the urge but nothing comes out. I’m trying to eat some prunes to see if that helps. I just wanna poop!

  • +8673048 to the body hair!  Didn't have time to shave my legs this morning but figured I'd still be okay wearing a dress to work because I just shaved yesterday late morning before we went to the pool.

    Wrong. :grimace:

  • @sweetyjenj Just a word of caution about taking too many Tums - they put you at an increased risk of kidney stones (studies have shown that a significant proportion of women who suffer kidney stones in pregnancy are also taking a calcium-based antacid for heartburn). Because Tums are calcium based and women are often taking a prenatal with calcium and then eating a diet rich in calcium, it's like calcium overload which leads to nasty stones. If it's a long-lasting problem, ask your doctor to prescribe you Zantac. It's safe for pregnancy and it's not calcium-based.

  • Food aversions to meat have me searching out alternate sources of protein. I'm basically an accidental vegetarian these days.  I've had heinous heartburn for the past few weeks, and now I haven't had any for the past 3 days. Not that I'm not grateful for the relief from discomfort, but it has me thinking some not so great thoughts. I am probably over thinking this because it's only heartburn and logically, I know that even this symptom probably comes and goes.  But I legit got heartburn last week from drinking water, and then last night I ate baked ziti (aka lots of marinara sauce and cheese) and nothing...argh the worry brain is a torture!

@sfgiantsgamerbabe if nothing else works, get some mirilax -- My ob/gyn recommended it to me.  You also mix it into any drink, shake, and slurp it up.  It has zero taste and produces a BM in 1-3 days.  It has helped me out of some rough situations.

My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone)

  • @rooonilwaazlib I also am not a huge fan of meat these days and most protein supplements give me gastrointestinal issues. The one thing I have found that doesn't make me gag AND settles in my tummy just fine is collagen peptides (I use the kind with the blue label from Vital Proteins). I just put two scoops in my half cup of coffee I allow myself each morning and you can't taste it at all and is an extra 18 grams of protein plus the collagen is really good for organ development and helping *potentially* prevent-ish/reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Obviously, check with your dr before taking a new supplement but this works well for me.

Note, it's pricey. But I often find it 25% during the supplement sales and Whole Foods or Sprouts (going on at WF right now)

  • @rooonilwaazlib sorry you are still dealing with food aversions. If you're into them, beans/lentils/split peas etc are good for protein and have a really high amount of fiber. I try to eat them every day and have managed to stay mostly regular. Beans and rice, chili, lentil soup, dal etc are common meals for me- I like the Amy's brand or else make it from scratch.
  • @kianarain It seems to be a theme, lol. Oooh the anger.
  • @kianarain +1. I am walking around feeling generally salty and then every so often I also get hit with a wave of rage.

  • I am hungry ALL DAY. Like. Literally I can eat a giant meal and my stomach will growl 1.5 hours later. I remember the same thing in this mid second tri period with DD. I think it calmed down in the early 20 weeks so I'm hoping it will again this time too. Especially since healthier things like fruit and veggies and dips only keep me full for like a minute.

  • +1 to hungry all of the time but hating all food. Especially chicken. YUCK.
also +1 to anger. I am a very calm, rational person usually.... I totally flipped out on DH the other day for what seemed small in the grand scheme of things (but he was driving me bananas).

  • @wkuandrea Hating chicken is the hardest part of pregnancy for me because it's the healthiest easiest most filling thing to eat. But I hate everything about it.

  • I kind of still hate all food.  Fortunately I can tolerate eating almost anything.  But then once I've eaten it, it is totally disgusting to me.  Thinking back on what I've eaten makes me want to hurl.

  • @kianarain I'm sure my dh would agree to the increase in moodiness lately, hows your handling it?
@rooonilwaazlib I love lentils and beans so I also eat a lot of that in lieu of meat, i also eat a lot of Greek yogurt, good luck with finding something that works for you.
  • @sfgiantsgamerbabe I pooped today too and it was great, lol

Also I have about 0 patience right now and I'm easy to cry. It's super fun.
  • 16 weeks on Thurs and I have a POUNDING headache. I’ve been getting up every few hours to pee in the MOTN so in the morning, I don’t feel as refreshed but that’s been going on for several weeks now. This headache came on so fast today and is lingering. I want to sleep right now - so tired but my headache is preventing me from falling asleep.
