This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o 7/23
Diagnosis (if you've been): MFI - Low Count
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFFET - It's TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Hopefully getting KU!
How are things going?: So far so good. Just added a few more meds into the mix as of last night to get ready. I'm a little nervous, but pretty calm about it. I don't feel real yet.
Any questions?: Just any Netflix recommendations while I'm on bed rest tomorrow.
GTKY: What is something you know now that you wish you had known when you started this journey? How hurry up and wait it us. The whole thing is more waiting than anything which sucks.
And, not to pat my own back - but I didn't think I'd be this bad ass to go through IVF and give myself needles. I'm stronger than I thought and I surprised myself.
**TW for entire post**
Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): benched
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):
Monitoring BW until beta returns to zero
How are things going?:
Been better
Any questions?:
GTKY: What is something you know now that you wish you had known when you started this journey?
not sure come back if I can think of this one
@beachbunnyxo123 so sorry that you have come back to us
Diagnosis (if you've been): hypothyroid (medicated), unexplained
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): femara, trigger, IUI
How are things going?: Peachy. U/S w/RE Friday, then we'll decide when to trigger.
Any questions?: I'm sure I'll have some later in the week.
GTKY: What is something you know now that you wish you had known when you started this journey? How expensive it is. I was told, but paying out of pocket for all fertility treatments at each visit is a real downer. Especially watching us throw away money on failed IUIs and know that if we go through 4-6 we will be drained of our IVF fund and that will be the end.
@KristoKekerooni Thinking of you today! Hope all goes well.
@50wife Ahhhh! Can you believe it’s transfer week?! What do you usually like to watch? I’ve been into true crime lately. We started watching The Staircase this weekend.
@sheepshepherdess Remind me how many IUIs you’ve done? I feel you on the balancing act of IUIs vs IVF.
Diagnosis (if you've been): Autoimmune/ endometriosis / adenomyosis / LPD / MFI / polyps&tubal cyst&partial septum removed
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Injectable IUI cycle
How are things going?: Pretty good. I’m worried about over stimulating as this is my first cycle on injectables only (I did two clomid+injectable cycles & one clomid only). I have an u/s tomorrow morning. MH & I came up with a magic number that we are comfortable triggering.
Any questions?:
GTKY: Buy stock in pads & tampons & diflucan/monistat. The hormonal shifts kill the balance in my vag. *TW* And the bleeding post-MC *TW end* and after the Hysteroscopy/laparoscopy & subsequent periods have me doubling up on all the feminine products.
How many IUIs will you plan to do before moving onto IVF so you don't deplete your savings??
@jrm_14 Good luck tomorrow! Hope things are looking good and not too crazy in there! I hope you guys are happy with whatever is going on and you're able to trigger and go through with the IUI!
And to respond to both of you regarding Netflix - I did already watch the Staircase (@jrm_14 youll have to let me know what you think when you're done!!) I'm into the ID channel so anything crime related is up my alley. But in general I love a good documentary or comedy.

@50Wife Lady, I am so rooting for you (and think you're a total bad ass.) I will be thinking of you and sending all the positive vibes tomorrow. Since you like crime shows, you could go really old school, with like Law & Order, start at the beginning. It was on for like 20 years...
@jrm_14 I'm glad you and your H had the conversation and know going in what you're comfortable with that is an important step.
@sheepshepherdess GL w/your IUI
Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained. (AMA & low AMH)
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFIVF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): right now i'm on BCP until August
How are things going?: last week was rough, but I was able to vent some of my stuff and felt a lot better. Ordered my meds. This is really happening
Any questions?:
GTKY: What is something you know now that you wish you had known when you started this journey? I think we would all like to know how our TTC story will end, but that is life, you don't get to know the ending you get to take the journey. Do I wish I had known I would end up here? maybe, but part of this process was learning everything I had to learn along the way. Would it have been nice to be one of those people who never has to learn about AMH and IUIs and injectable meds and all of this other stuff, maybe, they do say ignorance is bliss. I've learned a lot about my self and what I can handle.

@beachbunnyxo123 Oh friend, I'm so so sorry to see you back here. I hope your RE is able to help figure out a plan to get you your take home baby. So many hugs and love sent your way
@sheepshepherdess I hope the u/s goes well this week and this cycle is it for you so that you don't have to watch your IVF fund dwindle any further.
@jrm_14 I hope the new protocol of injectibles is exactly what you need.
@Avrilmai I'm sorry you had a rough week last week, but at the same time I'm happy that you were able to work through it and are feeling better. Hugs
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, high prolactin
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): First IUI cycle
How are things going?: Um, they're going I guess. Today is CD1 and I'm still in disbelief; I probably will be up until we go in for the IUI. I called my mom this morning and let her know we're starting treatment this cycle. I don't know what caused me to call her (she already knew that we were struggling) but I think she appreciated being kept in the loop.
Any questions?: I know experiences vary pretty widely but what were your experiences on Clomid? I start it on Friday.
GTKY: What is something you know now that you wish you had known when you started this journey? How much it would effing suck and how lonely and isolated it would make me feel.

@beachbunnyxo123 My heart breaks seeing you back here. I really hope that this next transfer is successful for you and gives you your take home baby.
@sheepshepherdess I hear you! It is so expensive. I feel like I should have been saving back in my 20's. GL on the IUI's.
@jrm_14 Oh I am hoping so hard that these injectables do the trick for you. I will be thinking of you tomorrow and sending all the positive vibes your way.
@Avrilmai So glad to hear that you are feeling better this week and were able to vent and get stuff off your chest. Be kind to yourself.
@lulu1180 Everything crossed for you girl! This process is definitely a lonely one. So good to have this community to lean on. *hugs*
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, low morph
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): On our own, DH does his in depth SA on Friday. I wanted to wait until after I had O'ed, you know....just in case.
How are things going?: I got a call to finally get a CAT Scan scheduled for Wednesday. Hopefully this will give them a firm diagnosis on the whole adenomyosis issue and how they want to handle it, if at all. Something has been irritating my stomach lately and I am over it. I have had to stop all of my supplements trying to get it back on track and it isn't helping. We think it may be too much magnesium.
Any questions?: Has anyone ever had issues with too much magnesium in their diet before?
GTKY: What is something you know now that you wish you had known when you started this journey?
Just how long it would take. And how much "hurry up and wait" there would be involved. I don't know that it would have changed anything that I would have done. Maybe gotten into the RE sooner? But that would only have changed by a couple months.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Testing limbo
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Waiting for the results of the biopsy and AF in about 2 weeks.
How are things going?: The biopsy last Thursday was horrific and I'm still spotting from it. I'm cautiously hopeful that we'll come back with an all-clear, but you know how IF messes with your mind. There's a good chance I'll have an update by the end of the week, though.
Any questions?:
GTKY: What is something you know now that you wish you had known when you started this journey? (I really prefer non-IF-related questions for the GTKY...) I mean I knew that IVF doesn't always = baby, but I never expected to do "everything," to have it result in "nothing." (Of course those are relative terms and a gross oversimplification of the past 2 years.)

Our journey has come to an end.
I had a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and chromotubation today. This was mostly just to check it off the list of things I’ve had done, since I hit my out of pocket max. When the doc came in pre surgery, he told us to expect it to be quick, since I have no risk factors
or symptoms. To his (and my!) great surprise, I had quite a lot of endometriosis covering my organs. He removed everything he could, leaving a small amount on my colon, since he was risking permanent damage if he were to take it all. I had a lot on my right tube, and it was spilling fluid into my uterus, so he removed my right tube. *he did leave my ovary, which I’m thankful for. While he’s not an RE, he said with the spillage and inflammation, this could easily be the reason for our multiple losses. whuoe I was in recovery, he went back to his office and discovered my genetic results were in from the D&C. They found two different DNAs, but only one had enough tissue to from and test. They couldn’t even get a sex from the second. The one they were able to test was a baby boy. My husband took the call (and you know how husbands are...) so I’m not sure what exactly, but there were issues with chromosome 16 & 22. These may or may not have contributed to the loss.
So... we have answers.... and we have more questions. I’m in a lot of pain right now, so I’m trying to focus on rest and recovery-a hard feat for someone so controlling and type-A! Hopefully in the coming days when I am more clear-headed I can think this through more. At the very least, as confused and broken-hearted as I am, I’m also very thankful I pushed for both the D&C and the surgery today. All the docs said both were unnecessary, so I’m tossing up a middle finger to them all.
Love you all all and I SO appreciate your love and support. Xoxo
also, I’m not proof-reading this. I’m going to sleep. Enjoy my typos and grammatical errors.

@nitnat007 I have (had?) adenomyosis. They took as much as possible out when they found it during my surgery last month. Do you suspect endometriosis as well?
@AlohaKumu When I envision a biopsy, horrific is exactly thre word I picture. Hoping the spotting lets up soon. Were you on antibiotics for th endometritis?
Q: Do people’s clinic encourage you to use the overflow in injectable cartridges? My last clinic told me to do so, but my current clinic seems skeptical.
@kristokekerooni wow. That’s a lot of stuff they found. The hydrosalpinx could really be a reason. How freaking awesome but how devastating if that now solves your MC issues.
@jrm_14 Mine Said feel free to use it when I wasn’t on max doses. But when on max doses then we kept it and used it first before opening a new pen. If you have lots of smaller pens you get a lot extra!!! We stopped buying the 900pens now as the overflow is less. If we buy 3x300 then we normally get 50extra in each. For us the 3x300 was same price as 900, but you only got 50 extra with 900 compared to 150... and with the amount of meds I use saving buying an extra 100 every three days is a huge saving at the end.
And Fx you’re under your magic number.
@alohakumu your biopsy experience really sounded horrific last week. For a moment I was all confused and thought you’d previously had the dilation but then I remembered that was @beachbunnyxo123... did they say they would need to think of dilation for the future? Because the kind of torture you went through can not be normal... I hope the results are at least good ones!
@beachbunnyxo123 oh I am so so sad to see you back here. Ahhhh... Though I also hope you can move on again very quickly with your frosties.
@nitnat007 roll on Wednesday! Then I hope you can actually move forward with treatment.
@lulu1180 I hope the clomid is kind to you
@avrilmai when will you come off BCP?
@sheepshepherdess hope that US looks great on Friday
Diagnosis (if you've been): DOR AMA AI issues and currently look like a weeble that wobbles but doesn’t fall over (except I do actually fall over quite a lot...)
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFAF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Baseline and hopefully #6 IVF (how the hell did I get to here inside a year of seeing the first RE???)
How are things going?:
Friday I had a reallly “funny turn”, almost passed out, got sent home from work.
Sunday evening for no apparent reason I had a major allergic reaction and needed to go to the ER to get a shot to calm the hell out my body’s reaction to some thing we cannot yet identify. DH thought my throat might close as it started with my head and neck. I looked like a tomato, was so hot my skin felt it was blistering, swollen and itchy as hell. By this morning I was just left with swollen. I look like someone had blown my face up with a balloon pump. But otherwise felt ok. Nobody at work dare comment.
Until a ridiculous toothache hit this afternoon. So now I get to go to the dentist tomorrow and say yes I want treating, but I’m on blood thinners and by the way no drugs that might damage my eggs please.
Tonight in the space of two hours my waistline went from normal to +7 inches. Yes 7. If I’d just had a retrieval I would suspect OHSS again. Except that was weeks ago. I got up from the sofa and DH stared at me, I said what, he said, um what happened to your tummy... I looked and was like oh crap.
So I think overall my body is rebelling.
Basline should be Thursday, maybe I’m growing mushrooms in there, who knows.
Any questions?: Nope
GTKY: What is something you know now that you wish you had known when you started this journey?
How much weight I would put on. How much bloating there would be for so few eggs. That there is no guarantee for anything. That this becomes like a job.

@beachbunnyxo123 Oh, I'm so sorry. My heart broke when I saw your name here. You know I have everything crossed for you for next cycle. I hope your levels lower quickly. Hugs.
@sheepshepherdess GL on Friday! Hopefully you can trigger. I know failed IUIs suck enough, and then thinking about the money that went into them too... Double suck.
@jrm_14 You're smart to have a magic number now to prevent quick decision-making later. I hope you have the perfect amount of follies.
@Avrilmai It's happening! Hoping for some awesome IVF results ahead of you.
@lulu1180 I never took Clomid and don't have any advice there, but I hope you don't get any side effects. The day I started IVF meds, I too called my mom even though I wasn't planning to. And cried about all the things I was scared about. I agree that I wish I knew how isolating it would be. And I'm sorry you feel isolated. I hope this IUI works for you!
@nitnat007 GL at the scan on Wednesday and with the SA on Friday!
@AlohaKumu I'm still cringing from the details you gave on the biopsy last week. I'm so sorry it was horrible for you. FX that you get your results this week and that they're good.
@KristoKekerooni Wow! Sending you lots of good recovery vibes. That's a lot you went through today. I'm glad they were able to keep the ovary - and remove the endometriosis (or as much as possible)!
@emmasemm WTF to your rebelling body? That's insane. I hope things calm down for you soon. I wonder what the bloat could be from? Have you contacted the RE about it?
Diagnosis (if you've been): PCOS
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): just hanging out
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): waiting for FET
How are things going?: I've been keeping busy to keep my mind off the FET, but of course if I'm not busy, my mind wanders to the FET immediately. I'm still not sure when I'll be able to do it.
Any questions?: For those of you who have done a FET, what cycle day did you do the transfer?
GTKY: What is something you know now that you wish you had known when you started this journey? I wish I knew how many decisions I'd have to make and that there was no way to plan because the plan would most often change from month to month due to circumstances I had no way of foreseeing.
@emmasemm yes! I have been buying the 300 this time around. Mine seem to have 75-100/cartridge overflow, so I can make a while extra day every 2 vials. Win. Idk why my RE nurse was side eyeing this. I wanted to make sure there wasn’t something I was missing. & holy Batman- can the world just be kind to you?! You’re such a trooper. I know it’s like “Well, I get up & do it- there isn’t really another choice.” However, you really amaze me ❤️
@beachbunnyxo123 I’m so sorry that you’re back here. Thinking of you!
@sheepshepherdess FX that this is it for you!!
@jrm_14 I hope your appt tomorrow goes well!!
@Avrilmai I’m glad you’re feeling better this week! I’m here if you need anything or have any questions!
@lulu1180 really hope that this iui is all you need!!
@nitnat007 I hope your cat scan goes well and they have some answers for you
@KristoKekerooni wow!! I’m sure that was a shock to wake up to!! I’m so glad you had the surgery and got some answers
@emmasemm wow!! Sounds like you had a scary weekend!! I hope that you can get some answers as to what’s happening.
@madspunk remind me—have you started meds yet?
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, mild pcos
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): wto
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): waiting for to O and then AF
How are things going?: waiting to find out the results from last week’s biopsy.
Any questions?:
GTKY: What is something you know now that you wish you had known when you started this journey? I never knew how jealous and bitter I’d be. Not sure how it would have helped me if I had known but I definitely didn’t expect to feel this way

@lulu1180 beta will be next Friday!
How was your moms response to treatment? Cycle one with clomid was fine for me. Cycle two I was a bitch and my husband breathing annoyed me! I hope you feel ok on it!
@nitnat007 good luck at your scan!! I hope it can provide some answers for you guys. Hope the SA looks good too!
@AlohaKumu ugh I hope you can get the green light to move forward soon but I totally understand how this whole game makes you super cautious to get too excited about moving forward! I hope your spotting eases up soon!
@KristoKekerooni wow I'm so glad you pushed to have the additional testing done!! I hope you're feeling ok today
@emmasemm girl...what the shit is happening with your body over there???! Scary!! I hope you can figure out what's caused everything
@madspunk knowing that's an FET in your future at all would make it hard to not think about it!! I hope you're able to do it soon
@purplg8r hope you get your results back soon!! Are you ready to move forward or what??!
@jrm_14 good luck at your next scan!! Are you guys comfy moving forward with the three?
As for my mom, she sounded a little surprised; although I'm not sure if that was because we were starting treatment or because I told her about it. She knows we've been struggling but I don't really share details with her...in the past her responses have been along the lines of "I just know it will happen for you." Well thanks for that mom because I'm not nearly as confident. She did ask to be updated and I made sure to tell her that we may not tell her right away whether or not it worked. Overall, her response was good and she told me that her and my dad pray for me every week in church. If only all it took was a prayer...

My parents have been praying too. I just smile and nod. I guess it makes them feel like they're contributing in some way?
TW for mentioning unplanned pregnancy
So yeah, my mom has not a single clue what this is like and therefore I don't think she really knows how to respond. Once several years before getting married I remember mentioning to my mom that I was afraid there was something "wrong" with me and I wouldn't be able to have children. Her response was that "God wouldn't do that to someone like you." And yes, I now want to go back to that day and slap my mother in the face for that comment.

@50Wife I’m so happy for you!! Do you think you’ll test early?
@50wife @purplg8r I’m satisfied w/ 3. I was hoping for 3-4, and would have triggered up to 5. I had more follicles at this scam my first 2 IUI cycled & several dropped off. However, they were never so close in size, so hopefully at least 2 hang in there.
@KristoKekerooni You said that there was an issue w/ chromosomes. I was thinking you PGS tested. Am I way off base on assuming PGS would catch something like that? Off to research PGS more now. (Probably things you’re wondering, too?). Hoping you are recovering well.
