Re: Weekday Randoms 7/16-7/20

  • @gingerbride26 so far my parents and sister have each visited for a week each. They were both helpful for the most part which kinda made H a bit lazy. One more week with my BILs family and it makes me nervous because they have a 5 year old and my SIL has been referring to their travels as a family vacation. I hope they actually help.

    Congratulations @paytonpedro!

I've already placed 6 orders on Amazon. Yikes!!!! Lol
  • limoncat so jealous that you are able to work from home.  I hate driving into the office but know once I’m on leave if this baby hasn’t come, I am going to go nuts!

zombiehoohaa  we have a love sac and I never even thought to try and sleep in it, you my friend may have just saved me! I have not slept more than 2 hours in like a month.

    SmashJam  Happy Anniversary!!!

    nimmle  +1 for horrible bosses

    Congrats paytonpedro

MichelleAG05  ditto- my amazon bill this month is going to be ridiculous..thank goodness for my 15% completion discount

  • @gingerbride26 I totally feel you with the bond between DH and DS. I struggle with the fact that basically my son is happy for me to leave and cries when DH does, but it will be super helpful when DS2 gets here!

@chaser61 I'm also on team no visitors right after baby. I don't want people underfoot, helpful or not!
  • @babygagnon2018 I am happy about not having to commute, and being able to work in my pj's, but also worried I'm going to go stir crazy while waiting for baby to arrive. I will somewhat miss the social aspect of going to work. Work has been slow and my boss won't give me new projects for obvious reasons, so it may be a bit boring. At least I can get some rest.

Congrats to everyone who has recently delivered, and good luck to everyone who is waiting!
  • Congratulations @paytonpedro and good luck @Sarafuss!
  • @MichelleAG05 and @babygagnon2018 I haven't seen a damn thing to buy :-/ this prime day has been a major disappointment... what did you get??

@limoncat I've been WFH full time for about 3 months - it def is a mixed bag.  If you can change up your scene - work from the deck, work from the living room, etc - it helps with the stir crazy.  Make sure you plan ahead on food, snacks, and drinks or you'll be driving out 3x a day for food or getting to be on a first name basis with the grubhub peeps.  For me - I'm still on skype and in meetings all day so there is def still a social aspect - but it's not the same as bumping into people at the break room.  I do get sick of DH being the only adult I interact with face to face and tend to overdue it on the weekends :-) PJs all day nap breaks, and sleeping through your morning commute rock though!!

@limoncat I 100% agree with @gingerbride26. I usually spend about half of the day working from home and half the day working from the french bakery/cafe down the street so that I'm not going absolutely stir crazy. I'm in an urban area so there are places walking distance from my home. They also make a killer decaf latte and chocolate croissant so I can't complain. I do miss the face to face at work with my coworkers and having normal adult conversations in person rather than over messenger, but I don't miss the commute. Being able to sleep til 8:30 is pretty sweet especially considering I don't sleep well these days. Every extra minute counts!
  • @gingerbride26 - too mcuh stuff I prob don't need! Got DD a water submarine toy for the pool, got some button activity sets to give as gifts, got a postpartum girdle (not on sale) and a nursing sleep bra. I also got some anti itch spray for my dog who has developed sores from itching so much. Oh - and Annie's fruit snacks which are DD's favorite! She calls them gummy bears and bunnies and I have to hide them from her. I came VERY close to buying a Graco car seat but it sold out before I could ask DH. Should have done it - it was for my car, not his!
  • @nimmle i have been so jealous of your posts about the bakery lol sounds amazing!! I'm in the burbs so even starbucks is a solid 5+ min drive in any direction with no direct walkways - not that i could manage even a half mile walk these days lol - tried to walk to the park down the street over the weekend and DH sent me back to get the car after crossing the street LOL this time last pregnancy i was hauling ass 3 miles a day up hills!

  • @nimmle and @gingerbride26 thank you for the ideas! We have a starbucks pretty close, getting out of the house will be good for me. I wish we had a french bakery though...that sounds divine. As for sleeping through my morning commute...HA my insane toddler was up at 5:30 this morning and DH has the magical ability to tune out the frequency of his voice yelling "Mommy Daddy WHERE ARE YOU?" on repeat. The slower pace to the morning will be nice though, instead of trying to rush us all out the door. Also looking forward to working from the couch as sitting as a desk chair gives me cramps.

@gingerbride26 Ugh, I dunno what I would do in the burbs. One day we will have to make the transition because to afford to buy anything larger than a 2 bedroom is insane. Not that we couldn't do it if we really stretched, but if we want to be able to retire at a normal age we can't, lol. Having this place less than a block from my house is such a benefit.
  • +1 For going overboard on Amazon... But how could I not buy that double stroller I've been wanting when it's only $80! Unfortunately, its DH email linked to the account so he already knows about all the things
  • nimmlenimmle member
@babybump1994 OMG same with the Amazon. I just ordered the iBaby Care M7 baby monitor and I'm not sure if I even want it. It was just on flash sale... :#
  • DH is in the attic with the AC guy. It's the owner of the company. They were supposed to just be scoping out the level of work to order parts and have his guys install Thursday......but they tripped something so all I heard was "there's no power here", then "shit", and the guy took a bunch of stuff from his truck back upstairs. Meanwhile, I'm strongly considering ordering delivery from Favor instead of warming up leftover tacos.
  • @nimmle we've been lucky in the burbs - both here and when we were in FL we kind of had the best of both worlds. Quick access to freeways, big chains, and convenient shopping - but also a historic downtown nearby with unique restaurants and boutiques all within a strolling distance of free public parking.  There are some hidden gems out there - I will admit we pay a CRAPTON in taxes for the amazing schools and parks, but we avoid private school so it's a tradeoff.  When I was up to running I always felt safe running alone in our neighborhood too with minimal traffic.
@MichelleAG05 that is terrifying... good for you to just stay calm and let DH handle it LOL i'm all in support of delivery! I told DH we were having Indian again because I was sick of work drama :-P making up for 6 months of avoiding it

Ok you ladieis have me convinced to go look at the Prime deals again...

  • I wish I had a cafe walking distance! DH and I shared a car before baby so I did work from Starbucks occasionally, not that it's far but it's on a large Blvd and the walk is just so freaking loud. I also can't always work outside the house because of some stuff that is sensitive in terms of security and I didn't have VPN.

I got a security camera on Prime Day (also not needed but $30!!) , And DH and I got some Bluetooth headphones.we have a Pixel 2 and have been struggling with the freaking headphone jack/dongle. They were 50% off and ended up being $25.

  • @babygagnon2018 girl!!!! Its been a life saver with sleep and hip/pelvic pain. I was just telling my sister how much of a difference it is with sleeping on my side. There isnt the pressure that you get when laying in bed. I have been having dh or my mom fluff it up every couple days. I didnt sleep in it lastnight though and I'm feeling it today. I did not sleep well lastnight.

    Congratulations @paytonpedro!!

@gingerbride26 It was a flash deal from yesterday! It's still on sale now though for $100, not the best stroller but it'll work for occasional use

  • Congrats to the new mommas and good luck to those laboring!

I’ve been trying to keep up on here but between not sleeping, constantly breastfeeding (in agony because LO is destroying my nips), too many visitors, peds appointments, and trying to juggle my toddler and baby (and husband who promised he’d only be checking in with work once a day but has totally broken that promise today and Left me to fend for myself at 3 days postpartum with a toddler and newborn), it’s been tough. I miss sleep.

@gingerbride26 i got a highchair that ive had my sites on but couldnt justify the money, a baby monitor, some carters sleepers, and 4 orders of honest diapers (the diapers i got for free!) there must have been a glitch!
edited to add the pics- sry on mobile and cant add a spoiler

Whaaaat? I just got the $28 iproven baby thermometer for $10 as there is a flash sale and an additional 10% off coupon and was super proud of that. You win @babygagnon2018
  • Anyone else's LO cough a lot and seem to almost choke on their own spit/spit up?
  • Bummed out that my BIL isn’t comfortable with me BFing without a cover especially in my own home. My dad didn’t even make a big deal about it. I don’t even cover up in public (i did with DS but i don’t care so much about public strangers this time around). If it gets too hot though i might just ask him to walk away because I’m not gonna subject baby or myself to that hot mess.
  • Congrats @cseley321. So glad you guys are doing well, that must have been so scary!
  • @cseley321 congratulations, I’m so glad you’re both okay, that sounds terrifying!

  • @cseley321 wow! Congratulations, I’m so glad everyone is okay!
  • @cseley321 congratulations and I'm so happy to hear that everyone is doing well now!
  • @cseley321glad everyone is ok, but how scary! @wildtot tell him to go eff himself.  Your house! What a nut.

Great deals you guys got! I didn't see anything I wanted, i was so sad!

Congrats @cseley321! I'm so glad everyone is doing well. What a scary day!
  • Wow @cseley321 I’m so glad you were on the monitor when that happened and they were able to act quickly. Congrats!

@wildtot that’s so obnoxious, did he actually ask you to cover up around him? I would say sorry but it’s my house and I’m feeding my child. I breastfeed whenever and wherever, my dad came over tonight and I had no problem doing it in front of him. But I know when you can tell someone is uncomfortable with it, it makes you uncomfortable too, which sucks.
  • @cseley321 congratulations! What a scary delivery but super glad everything turned ok!
  • Jealous @babygagnon2018! I had a friend text me about that and I ignored it. I shouldn't have!

I just got an Extend2Fit for DD at Target for only $125. Whoop! It's pink, which she's excited about and I'll save hers for DS.
  • Congratulations!! @Sarafuss
  • @wildtot - per usual @zande2016 and @SmashJam have said exactly what i was thinking :-) your house, if he's uncomfortable HE should leave the room.  That's actually one of the "rules"/"guidelines" for newborn visits on the signs I've been looking at on pinterest...can't find it now but it talked about if mom says it's time to feed the baby, leave.

@cseley321 that sounds so scary - i'm so glad everyone is doing great and you were at the right place at the right time.  You are the second person I know who was already at the hospital for a planned CS when it turned into an unforeseeable emergency.  Goes to show those monitoring processes are there for a reason!
