Re: July Randoms

  • Anyone else notice losing hair near temple area?  I don’t put my hair in a pony anymore thanks to not working out and my cousin who had a March baby too asked the question and I looked and wow, I have been losing hair in that hairline area!  Crazy
  • mmom3mmom3 member
@slr1229 - I think I’ve lost more hair then I have remaining.  This is by far my worst hair loss compared to my previous 2 kiddos.

    @megpeg - any better today?

  • Yep, the hair loss has been incredible.  I can't keep the drains clear anymore...

@slr1229 my side burn area is bad. They fell out and are coming back in curly.
@mmom3 it was better except when I need to pump. Declan screamed almost every time and DD is more concerned about her own needs or tries to hold him and he hates when she does because she does unexpected things. My sister hung out with us for four hours which was awesome. My mom and Grandma are coming tomorrow.

  • Do they not make baby play mats that come with slip covers?  N spits up so regularly during tummy time (even though I try to wait after she eats!) and I hate having to put her whole mat in the wash.
  • @ashtuesday I just put a burp cloth under his head.

@slr1229 Yep, I basically have male pattern balding right now. :sob:  Hoping it grows back a bit before the school year starts.  I use strategic parts when I wear it down to help hide it, but when it is pulled back there is no hiding it.  I got a few inches cut off a couple weeks ago and that helps give it some more volume.

@ashtuesday - I put a burp cloth under his head as well.

@megpeg - how did today go?  Hang in there - relief is on the way.  My husband is gone 16-18 a day so it’s only me pretty much 6 days a week.  Then he’s so tired on the that 7th day I’m still on my own pretty much.  I can sympathize how lonely and tough it gets without an extra set of hands.  Last week I was up north with my parents at our place for 5 days I had help.  It was glorious!!!!

My HR department just sent an email to us letting us know that a coworker of ours that was expecting a baby in November, lost the baby. She was 22 weeks along. My heart is absolutely breaking right now. If you guys could say a pray for her and just hold your babies tight tonight. :(<3

  • @crossfitbabybump thinking of your coworker.
  • sgrn18sgrn18 member
@crossfitbabybump that's awful, I can't even imagine what shes going through right now. I'll be keeping her in my thoughts & prayers.   Really makes me want to go home and hug my baby right now.
  • Saying many prayers.  My heart hurts for her and the baby.
  • Thoughts and prayers for your coworker.

@crossfitbabybump....prayers for your co-worker and her sweet angel.
  • So incredibly sad, happens more often than we all hear.  Prayers

My husband and oldest come home tomorrow! So excited to have a little relief.
Not excited because his vasectomy consult is Friday and I am supposed to watch a video about it. I am not sure if I want another baby now but I’m not not sure and need time.

  • @megpeg - yay they’re coming home! You survived. I’m sorry about the consult. Deciding to be done with babies is so heavy. Ugh.
  • @slr1229 my hair is coming out by the clumps. :( on my brush, on the floor, in my bed, in the shower...everywhere. :(

@sgrn18 for real! I have a bunch of friends that’s just had babies and I wonder why this hasn’t to go so fast. And then I almost cry because my oldest will be 10 next month and I wonder how that happened so fast!

  • Thank you ladies for the thoughts and prayers. Today is somber and sad at work but we are all getting together to help her and her family out with food and such. They aren't sure what happened, they just went in for a check up *TW* and there was no heartbeat. Kipton Jiggs Shore was born peacefully asleep, Friday July 13th. Mama is home now resting and mourning. :(
  • So very sad.
  • I started my period last night. :(
Somehow I feel like this marks the end of the pg/newborn phase.

    That’s always a shock.  I agree, though.
  • @sgrn18 my husband and I were going through old pictures the other night and I about cried looking how small he used to be. Makes me want another already. Totally not ready for that though.
  • sgrn18sgrn18 member
@mccurleya of yeah definitely had that feeling too and not happening for a while.
  • Y'all my grandMIL gave baby water today in front of me without asking. I could've cut her with my steak knife. I told her not to do that again and she said, "but look at that happy face." Um no. I look away for 2 seconds. She's not watching him alone again.
  • I’m so torn on having a second. Were other CS moms told to wait at least a year before trying?
@mccurleya - so sorry. Sometimes it’s so hard when people interact with the LOs - especially when people don’t listen...
  • megpegmegpeg member
@shoretobe I think they tell everyone to wait a year now for your body to be fully healed and ready to create another baby.

  • @mccurleya, I’m sorry you’re dealing with in laws that don’t want to listen to your wishes (and what’s safe for LO). They just don’t seem to understand that things have changed in the last 20 (or more) years. It’ll only get worse as the baby gets older- my MIL put our daughter forward facing in her car when she was only 13 months old. And gave her peanut butter before she was 2. Gotta lay down ground rules now and make sure DH is on board with them.
  • Wait, you shouldn’t give peanut butter before two now?  I thought it was one, but then again recommendations change quickly and I might have missed it.

FFC...I forward faced my oldest at one year because he was one year and I thought you were supposed to.  He was a micropreemie, so small for his age which makes my decision worse.

  • sgrn18sgrn18 member
@shoretobe they told me to wait 18 months before trying again but I think that's because I had to have a vertical incision (just on the uterus).  I don't know if I want to wait that long and it took us almost 2 years for this LO.  To be fair I had long/irregular cycles and wasn't temping, just used opks and the 2nd year was ntnp.

For the carseat stuff: my MIL wanted to know why I would want to rear face LO (at all... did infant car seats forward face in the 80s?) because "how can you see if they spit up and are choking?"......mirrors.

I think we have made the decision to go ahead with the vasectomy. I possibly have developed type 2 diabetes and need to get that under control and not worry about what it may do to a little one. We talked and DH really wants to adopt from Brazil after being there which is fine with me.
I hate having to worry about what other people are going to do with my kid. When DD was 4 months old my sister watched her and when I got there and went to change her diaper they had put a giant pirate temporary tattoo on her belly. I know it wouldn’t hurt her but I hate when people do dumb crap like that.

  • Add me to the reminiscing-about-newborn-life-and-thinking-about-another team.  There are so many variables to consider with the timing!  On one hand, I so desperately want to enjoy Nora and just let her be my baby. On the other, we experienced multiple losses and want to have a big family, so time seems like a precious commodity.  We will definitely wait a year, like my doctor recommended, but who knows from there!

@megpeg I'm glad you two have come to a decision that it sounds like you're happy with. Adoption is such a great way to keep the door of expanding your family open!  I always wanted to adopt, but my husband balks at the idea.
  • I read you're supposed to start high allergen foods at 6 months now. They said the earlier exposure the less likely to be allergic or something. Idk
  • The only thing I wait on is honey, but that’s only bc w don’t have any food allergies.  Otherwise, I would wait.  My first I did the intro, wait a week, etc.  Thrre are so many recommendations these days.

@megpeg that’s awesome adoption is an option.  I really wish my husband was on board with adoption. Such an amazing gift to give someone a loving home.  I am also glad you are keeping your health a priority.  Your husband and children need you to be healthy.

In other news, I started cloth diapering and Iove it.  We have a baby shop that has resale diapers so I double win on environmental impact.  I gave my babysitter the option to cloth or disposable and she chose cloth.  She said it’s awesome and she likes them.

  • In other, other news, I am going to smashing pumpkins tonight.  It’s the first time I will have been out with my husband in a very, very long time.
  • They recommend pb at 6 months now. And our pediatrician says once they get to 4 months if you eat something with pb give them kisses to start exposure too. We don't have any food allergies in the family though, so it is something to ask your pediatrician about for sure. Definitely honey after one though.

I recommend Bambas - they are basically pb Cheetos.  :D

@megpeg Glad you were able to come to a decision. I'm having a hard time with it too, but I know stopping at 2 is the right choice for our family. Adoption is a great way to be able to grow your family.

  • My 3 year old has peanut allergy (actually just passed back test and blood work came back neg!) but our allergist said to intro at 6 months now.  I’ve noticed after I eat toast with pb and honey and kiss her, her skin starts to rash so it’s either pb or honey.  She’s going to see allergist at 7 months since sister had it.

@DDRRT1982 I could cloth diaper 4 babies. We started out with pocket diapers with DD and then tried prefolds and loved them more.

At our 4 month check up our pedi said Pb & eggs by six months to start exposure.  My middle son had food allergies/intolerances (not nuts) but thankfully this guy doesn’t show any symptoms and my daughter has none either.

On a a different note - has anyone started food yet?  We haven’t but am curious as pedi said anytime
now I want.  I did at 5 mo with daughter, 6 mo with my son due to allergies.  Curious what others are doing?
