  • @tinjp78 Do you use the tummy warmer? It's cute! Now I'm wondering if I should add that to my list lol

  • @lemondrop1976 - Welcome! The 2WW is the hardest part. Are you going to test early? I'm impressed by people who can actually wait until their official test day; I've never been able to do it.

@leilee101 It sucks when doctors think they know your body better than you do.   I had to convince my doctor that my high E2 numbers were not lab errors.  I could feel something was wrong.  To his credit he believed me. Some ladies on here suggested vitamin E for lining so I'm going to try that this time too.
@ChristenMA83 I will probably be taking prednisone this time as well. *TW I had a MC my first cycle with a pgs tested embryo. Then I had a couple of positive ANA blood tests, but am otherwise undiagnosed. So iI'll be taking it out of caution this time. *  I'm not crazy about taking more drugs while pregnant but I'll have to trust the drs. I was told I will need to continue to take synthroid and metformin during pregnancy too.
@J1006 There are acupuncturists who specialize in fertility, so maybe that is why they want to set it up for you? Mine is general but very focused on fertility.
@tinjp78 No worries.  It's a really weird thing.  Love the tummy warmer.  You might start a new trend on these boards.

TWW- Don't feel badly about testing (or not testing).  You are not weak if you test. What ever works for you and keeps you sane!
  • Thank you! I'm trying to wait it out the full 2wks because I'm always getting disappointed with negatives but I can see myself caving because I'm impatient. I just found out that my back up embryo arrested today so the 3 I had transferred yesterday are my only hope which makes the 2ww even more nerve wracking.
  • @lizy181 Welcome! I'll be transferring next week as well. Feel free to add your info to the July FET Spreadsheet (it's in my signature). It helps everyone keep up with each other :-)

  • J1006kristimh80 thanks! I finally did it myself this morning after stomping my feet and crying just a tad. Lol. But I did it and will do it again tomorrow. No circles were drawn ever for me. Oh well.

lemondrop1976  GL! We’re in this together. My transfer was 7/5.

lizy181  yay! That is so exciting!

I have a pretty strong feeling this FET didn’t work for me. I don’t know why, maybe instinct but sure it was a fail. I will take my first hpt tomorrow morning and test every morning after just to be sure but not holding out lots of hope. I don’t think my uterine lining was thick enough. I asked the doc on transfer day what it was and he goes its fine but wouldn’t give me a measurement. I don’t think it was fine.  Will keep you all updated tomorrow with the hpt test.

  • @Drove2u I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you. I hope that everything works out and that you get some positive news tomorrow.
  • @Drove2u Awe don't stress to much, it's still super early for anything to show up on a test being your transfer was only 2 days ago. A lot of girls don't get anything until day 5 - 7. FX your feelings are wrong and everything will work out <3

  • @Drove2u congrats on the injection! I know the feeling of being sure it didn't work. I get it every single cycle (including the one that worked). So much time crying and moping before I had any actual information to indicate anything wrong. Maybe it's the hormones? Or just the stress of the whole process. Anyway, hang in there. You definitely won't see a result until at least day 5, more likely 6-8, so try not to put too much weight in the negative tests. Easier said than done.

  • Thanks @kristimh80 and @amy8686 bfn this morning.
  • @lemondrop1976 Welcome and happy PASP! I'm sorry to hear that your back up embie arrested. Fx that at least one embie is snuggling well now and that this TWW will fly by quickly.

@kristimh80 and @suziev3 Yes, I have several tummy warmers. Almost all Japanese women use them. The ones made of silk feels wonderful. And oh silk socks too, I find that they warm my feet more than the other types.

@lizy181 I'm happy to see your nice results and I'm also getting excited for your transfer next week!

@Drove2u Part of me exactly feel the same way as you. One minute I'm so hopeful that I'll get KU this time then the next minute I'm sobbing and beating myself up that this month's a bust for me too. I'm like a crazy lady here and no one physically around me would truly be able to get this. It's alright for you to feel hopeless at this point, I can keep hoping for you that you'll see that second line tomorrow and if not, on the following day probably. Btw, it's awesome to hear about your success on administereing a PIO shot, congrats!!!

AFM, I've decided not to POAS, because for me, seeing only one line during a TWW  is overpowering, I'm engulfed by guilt and fear. I can't bear having this feeling early on my TWW. If the bfn comes on the beta day, so be it,  let all my bitter drama start then. But until that time, I'll do all I can to increase my happy hormones. But then again, although my beta isn't due until 7/10, I'd have to be at the clinic tomorrow - 7/9, because can you believe this? they made a mistake and my progesterone pessaries is 4 pills short. That could mean, most probably I'd be tested and why did the universe deprive me of my one- day ignorance is bliss moment?
  • @tinjp78 I agree with your logic of not testing. After doing so in the past and having that disappointment take over, I feel like it added more stress in the TWW than anything else. This time, I'm working on staying stress-free and going to enjoy it. This is my last embryo...so trying not to add more fuel to the situation. Ugh...so sorry you have to go in tomorrow for that! Hopefully, you won't have to stick about there too long. Maybe they won't test and you'll have an extra day of bliss

  • @Drove2u Thank you and same to you! Maybe we can try to hold off the temptation to test early together. Knowing me I'll read into every symptom I'm feeling and can make it sway both ways each time. I'm going to try my best to stay positive and think baby thoughts, anything that can kick my body into the right direction. Again easier said than done, but will try as much as I can.
  • @lizy181 - good luck on your FET! Fingers and toes crossed :)

  • My stars went back on their courses, I didn't get tested today, beta is still tomorrow 7/10 as planned. I just picked up my 4 progesterone pessaries and went on my way. So, the reason why I had 4 pills missing was, I started them one day early. The bag with the meds did indicate that I should have them 7/3-7/10, but the nurse, DH and I discussed the timing of when I'd put them on on 7/2. Well my nurse told me today that this error is not a big matter and that I shouldn't worry. Yup, worrying won't change a thing. But please say a prayer for me for tomorrow. I'm starting to get pretty nervous.

@babesparrow GL on the transfer tomorrow
  • Oh man you guys, I can't keep up over the weekends.

@drove2u congrats on the successful self-injections.  I get the feeling of defeat with the FET, For our first one and this one I pretty much count myself out before we transfer, but I think it helps keep stress low and manage expectations.  Did you start testing over the weekend?

@tinjp78 the tummy warmer is adorable.  Hope tomorrow's blood test is all good news!  That's a beautiful little peanut.

@lemondrop1976 welcome to the group!  Fingers crossed this cycle is successful for you.

@lizy181 Welcome to the group.  Yay for a Friday transfer!

@bebesparrow good luck with transfer today!!!

Did anyone do anything fun over the weekend?  We visited a couple of my oldest friends for a board game night.  I'm still exhausted and need to catch up on sleep.

  • Ladies, I have a question on the PIO shots. We started yesterday — one in the AM and the other in the PM. The AM shot didn’t really hurt until much later (the area feels sore now) but the PM shot hurt a lot more at injection time but isn’t sore today. I wonder if we’re doing it incorretly. Did anyone experience more post injection pain in one side than the other? Going forward, I only get one shot (in the evening) but I’m afraid we did something wrong yesterday. My clinic doesn’t have me scheduled for any blood work this week prior to the FET but I’m wondering if there should be a test to check if the progesterone is working.

Positive thoughts and prayers are being sent to all of you! Fingers crossed for BFPs all around!

    Thanks,

    Liz
  • @lizy181 Did you have your nurse draw circles to make sure you're in the right spot? I remember my 1st PIO shots a few months ago hurt more because I was injecting below the area I should have been. So the next time, they drew circles and this time it's been 100% better and less painful. I also warm the injection area and shot up with a heating pad prior. It thins the oil and injects faster. Last time they also sent me 23 gage needles vs 22, so I've been using them up and they are thinner...so that maybe why they've been better. When is your FET? I'll add you to the spreadsheet because I know I won't remember! lol

  • @lizy181 I haven't experienced one side hurting more than the other after PIO, but then it's only been two nights. I, like @kristimh80, was surprised at where the nurse drew the 4 targets for me, I would have thought they were more on my butt but these are towards the top and I'm not finding that the injections are hurting nearly as much as I thought they would when looking at those big needles. Nurse advised me to ice for 5 minutes prior, then I have DH massage the injection site for 10 minutes after and so far it's a breeze.

@drove2u I'm trying to remember if you were testing this weekend or trying to wait until your appointment? Also, for anyone who's done these before, when you go for your appointment 12- to 14 days after your FET for the pregnancy test, do you find out then and there if your KU or do they call you later that day? Reason being, I highly doubt DH will be able to make another 4-hour one way trip with me for that appointment since my coverage is still in the state we used to live in. I'm just thankful he's getting out of work early Wednesday to drive up with me and be there to drive me to the FET, then drive us back the 4 hours Thursday. His work doesn't know what's going on so he just told them that this week he has a series of medical appointments and left it at that. He is hoping for a promotion soon and has noticed that people talk negatively about people being out a lot/taking sick leave a lot, even though technically it can't be held against you, it really can.

@bebesparrow thinking of you for your FET today and hoping it goes smoothly and successfully! Positive thoughts coming your way!
  • @Momifbysea My doctors office calls me the same day in the afternoon for bloodwork results. I doubt it's possible for them to tell you then and there.  Missing work for all the doctors appointments not to mention procedures and now acupuncture appointments is really challenging for me with work as well.  I haven't told anyone there what is going on for many reasons. They don't say anything to me, but I feel the occasional side-eye.
    @bebesparrow Good luck today!

I had day 3 bloodwork Saturday and my E2 stayed down with the patches!  In fact it's a touch lower than they wanted so they are adding more patches to be safe.  Crazy.  And also expensive.  Those patches cost a lot more than the smurf pills.
  • @Momifbysea That's great you get 4 targets!  I feel like they should call them "hip shots" lol I'm excited for you for your FET! You've had such a long journey this past year, FX 2018 continues to be a great year for you <3

  • @lizy181 - Ditto what the other girls said about the PIO, but also, sometimes I just get one that hurts a lot. I think our bodies just have some sensitive spots. The fact that it doesn't hurt anymore is good, since it means you didn't injure a nerve or anything. Definitely get the circles drawn to help with peace of mind going forward!

  • @tinjp78 your beta is so close!

@drove2u good job on doing the PIO yourself! Hopefully it gets easier with time, the 1st one is such a mental hurdle.  I totally get the counting yourself out- last time it started around 4-5 days after transfer.  I think it was a way of guarding myself to not be let down, but honestly in hindsight I think it didn’t really help and just put a big black cloud over the whole thing, so this time I am determined to try and stay hopeful.  I am right there with you on the testing early thing though (I shamefully have already ordered my stash when I placed a Target order last week).  I would rather slowly come to terms with an official negative than have it slapped in my face on beta day.

    @bebesparrow good luck today!

Due to a work conflict I was able to bump my baseline up a day to Thursday afternoon.  We have changed our mind on the embryo we are transferring.  I think we are going to start with one of the non-tested embryos first before we move onto out tested ones (we have 2 non tested ones from the 1st round and 4 great boys and one okay girl from the PGS tested 2nd round).  I guess I don’t have to let me RE or the embryologist know until the day before FET?  I’m sure they have to be okay with whatever we decide in regards to that right?  I think it was originally assumed we would start with one of the tested ones.

  • @becca07024411 Usually, they ask my what I'm transferring at the time I sign consent forms for the FET, which is usually at the last lining check before transfer. Nothing else, at your pre-transfer lining check, let them know. Maybe they can get you something in writing so there's no confusion with the embryologist :)

  • tinjp78 thanks. Yeah not feeling very hopeful here but also trying to stay busy and not think about which works most of the time. I can’t believe your beta is tomorrow!! GL and FX! Thinking of you! Good that the progesterone got figured out. And your baby is beautiful! We got a pic too! Something creepy my doc said. He said that my daughter and this one are twins separated at conception. I’m like that is really weird I wish you didn’t tell me that. Haha

lemondrop1976 good for you for not testing. I WISH I had that will power. Lol. But I sway in the direction of I rather be let down slowly than having hope and then getting a BFN at beta. I totally get the other point of view too.

@lizy181 GL on transfer! FX! As far as PIO shots: My ass is so freakin sore right now and in fact my skin down my hip a little is completely numb. Last time I did PIO my DH injected into a nerve and it literally hurt me for 3 months but I survived. I never had circles drawn on me so I wonder if that would’ve helped. Also I’m only injecting on one side right now since I cant use my right hand to inject. Way too unstable.

@bebesparrow Wishing good thoughts on your transfer!!

ChristenMA83 yeah my thought process this time around is totally different. I’m way more negative and less hopeful. This weekend we had to stay home since we had the transfer Thursday. So stayed super busy with DD: went out for ice cream, the park, outdoor concert, swimming, visited with friends.

Momifbysea I’m testing every day until beta. I doubt you will get results on the spot. They take blood in the morning and then call me in the afternoon with the results.

suziev3 sorry about the cost of the patches! These meds can get really expensive. When’s your next appt and for what?

becca07024411 yes exactly! I agree with you on the reasons for testing early. I can at least prepare myself for it slowly. What made you decide to transfer a non tested one?

AFM: I tested again this morning and still BFN as I thought it would be. I will test again tomorrow morning. Flying out to Portland, OR super early in the am for a work trip. Have all my PIO gear already packed and feeling way more confident in doing it myself. Ive been doing it myself all weekend and today and no big deal now. Lol. I was freaking out for no reason. I have a red eye back home on Thursday and arrive at the airport at 5:30am…have an hour drive home still and then beta at 8am.

  • Hi all! Thanks for the responses. My nurse drew two circles (one on each butt cheek). We tried to follow those but the differing levels of pain had me wondering if my DH did it right (which he loved to hear). We have tried icing the spots prior to but only for a couple of minutes. We’ll try for longer tonight. My FET is scheduled for this Friday afternoon with the pregnancy test on the 26th. I will try to avoid testing prior to the 26th but already know I will fail!

Im leaving work early today since I have some throat and nose ache (and can easily work from home). Hopefully I’m not getting sick!
  • @lizy181 I have heard some ladies use a numbing cream such as lidocane, I also found that using a heating pad directly on the area is helpful. Congrats on getting the go ahead for transfer, Friday will be here before you know it.
@suziev3 what a relief! Maybe patches distribute the hormone more evenly? Oh science, you fickle witch.
    @bebesparrow HAPPY TRANSFER DAY!!

I am terrible at keeping up over weekends! I had kind of a woe is me day Friday after lining check, DH came home from work and whisked me away to our lake house for the weekend. No cell service and sunshine was exactly what I needed, looking forward to tomorrow's check and FX for the go ahead :)
  • @lizy181 I'm on day 6 of POIs and hear is what made the experience 100% better for me:

    1. warm up oil vial in a heating pad on low for like 15 to 20 mins to thin it out before you draw it up, it goes in easier, faster, and leaves less lumps
    2. Ice the injection site for at least 15mins prior to injection, this totally was a game changer for me
    3. I lay down flat on my belly and have DH deliver the blow sitting by my side and make him sing a count down to me lol. I think laying down relaxes the muscle more to resist the poke.
    4. Make sure the skin area at site it held down / stretched vs pinched up
    5. Make sure the injection site is right above your butt crack, near the outer half of the upper butt cheak area. If its right at or below the top of your crack line it will hurt more.
    6. Massage for like 10 mins to reduce lumps and bruises.

Hope this helps, I'm a baby when it comes to needles so I researched and tried all the tips, definitely helped! Let me know if you have anymore questions.
  • @lizy181i forgot an important step for the POI shot

    * inject straight in with bevel facing UPWARDS, this will have it score through the skin vs tear it.

  • @lemondrop1976 — your advice worked like a charm! Tonight’s shot was so much easier to deal with! Thank you!
  • @lizy181 That's great! I'm glad I could help, its the little /big wins that make this journey a bit more bearable.
  • @leilee101 So good to hear you were able to get away and relax all weekend! FX tomorrow brings good news for you

Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy transfer day! I can't express enough how thankful I am to have found this forum and be surrounded by those who understand and root for each other.  It is such a beautiful thing to see.

Everything went well with the transfer. I feel different this transfer, definitely more positive :)  During the transfer, my first dance song from my wedding came on and I just held my husband's hands.  Corny, I know, but it made my heart happy.  Next up, HCG test in 9 days!

@kristimh80 - Good luck tomorrow!  Sending happy, sticky thoughts!  I also got a whole pineapple, brazil nuts, and wore socks to my appointment (I didn't wear socks last FET since I wore sandals).  Since I'm a nurse, my socks had pills, pill bottles, and stethoscopes all over it and the nurse at first thought the stethoscopes were sperm.  Haha.

@lizy181 - I used to do my own injections up until I got that one spot where I hit a nerve and I won't even do it anymore, so now my husband does them.  I invested in lidocaine patches, which are quite pricey, but help immensely.  Also, I found numbing the area with ice helps too.
