Re: June 2018 FET

  • Good morning ladies.  I'm officially out. Beta of 4. Wamp wamp.  Will talk to doc soon but was wondering you guys thoughts...

I'm so confused as to why these last 2 5AAs have not worked! My husband and I are both unexplained for infertility,  my lining is always great. We froze 16 embryos ( I have 13 left) and did not do testing.

My fresh cycle worked but now this is my second failed frozen (cp) yet the embryos Are thawed at 100% at 5AA...im wondering there is there something my docs are missing for my frozen protocol??

Good luck to everyone else!! We need some good news!!!

  • @lysslyss21 I’m very sorry to hear your update.  I wish I had some advice to offer, but I’m pretty much in the same boat.  Wow you must have had one amazing IVF cycle.  I only got 4 total embryos out of my ivf cycle and my doctor seemed to think that was good.  Doesn’t seem that good to me now that I’m down to my last one.
  • They pulled 36 eggs, with (8) 5AA in the bunch.  I definitely thought I was in a good position but now I'm down (3) 5AAs. Urghhhhh...

Doc said he is ordering bloodwork and getting me set up for next transfer.  My hubs told me I can take a break but I hate the wait!! I just have to keep trying until our dreams come true.

    Xxx
  • @laurengon82 so it sounds like once you’ve met your deductible, your IVF/FET and drugs are mostly covered? That’s amazing, what state are you in? I’m all OOP. My IVF “package” came with two IVF cycles and unlimited FET until 12 week pregnancy discharge. So in theory, I should be able to do another IVF, and with turning 37 in August, my clock is sounding the alarm. Still hope you’re not out but can to be your FET buddy if you have a transfer in August.

@lysslyss21 such a bummer. Sorry these well graded embryos haven’t worked out. My re has said anecdotally that some couples go through all their well graded embryos and it’s the less well grade one that sticks. Have you thought about transferring two? Maybe a better and worse graded embryo together?

  • @northbeach3 yep deductible is met!  I live in Indiana, but I go back and forth between Indiana and Illinois for my appointments depending on which office has appointments that work with my schedule.  I’d be glad if we could be transfer buddies!  It’s definitely comforting having people you have gone through other cycles with for support!
  • Lurking.

@lysslyss21 have you discussed an ERA?  Maybe the timing of the transfer is off.

  • Have not discussed  ERA but will add that to my question list! @mayflower513

My docs are strongly against transferring more than 1. In addition to the fact that I'm under 35 and have 5AAs they don't want to since ill be getting my cervix stitched closed at 12 wks due to incompetent cervix.  They said they don't like doing that with twins since they tend to come early and I wouldn't remove stitches until week 36. @northbeach3
  • @beachbunnyxo123 yay congratulations!  No word yet.  I’m not expecting to hear from the re before 6.
  • Wow, I feel like I've missed such a busy day on this board!
    @beachbunnyxo123 Congrats!!!
@northbeach3 m Yep, I think that may be our next step. On my hysteroscopy, he found a ton of adhesions from my previous losses and though he cut out as may as he could, he thought if this cycle didn't work (which it's not) that my best bet would be to be a gestational carrier since my uterus is failing me. Really having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that I may not carry our baby. Have had RPL panels done a couple times...unexplained infertility with unexplained RPL.
@laurengon82 Have everything crossed for a miracle beta for you. If not though, I think we may cycle again in August if my RE doesn't
@lysslyss21 I'm so sorry for the bfn. Did you do pgs on these frosties or are they untested?

Girls, we need some more good news on this board! I feel like this month has been pretty awful for the majority of us! Really wishing I had my beta already to confirm what I know. I'm getting beta Monday on my husband and my anniversary. Happy freakin' anniversary to us :-(

  • No good news here.  My hcg was 2.  I asked if it was another cp and the nurse said it was hard to say because they didn’t have any blood work to document, but that it sounds like it with having the positive hpt’s.  So I stop taking meds and call to make another consultation with the re.
  • @MSU_Girl1202 nope we didn't do pg testing on the babes.  Hindsight right!!! I plan to ask my doctor about that as well..

In addition to us not wanting to spend the additional money my doc was ok with us not testing them since I was 31 at retrieval time and I had so many....  I go back and forth because I know that tested ones still fail so you really just don't know!
  • Sorry for the doomed confirmation @laurengon82 apparently neither one of our June 11 bday wishes came true!
  • @laurengon82So sorry for the confirmation. Its always so hard even though you already know it's going to be negative, to get that final confirmation.

@lysslyss21 Totally agree, pgs-tested ones fail too (my current cycle being an example). I did something super unconventional...a few cycles ago, I made my RE thaw my embies, biopsy them and re-freeze (and transfer one). My RE told me that I could lose all of them in the thaw, but we kept doing cycles and having them fail and I wanted an answer. We did lose one in the thaw, but out of the ones we tested, we found out a couple had trisomy 16, most common cause of miscarriage, and they were our 2 best looking ones, so I'm really glad I did it. Not that it's the right answer for everyone, but just so you know it is possible...

Everything went great with my transfer today. Now... the wait to see if this little peanut sticks.
  • So bummed for you @laurengon82. And so we keep on keeping on. Take it easy this weekend while you regroup.

@MSU_Girl1202 wow I hadn’t heard of excessive scarring being something that would lead to needing a GC. That makes me nervous from having two D&Cs within four months. Is it a hysteroacopy that can identify that? May need to bring it up at my next meeting with the RE.

Congrats @beachbunnyxo123! I’m so happy for you to finally get your solid beta. Wishing you an uneventful and successful 40 weeks.

  • @laurengon82 sorry for the beta number, when is your next appt to talk about next steps?

@mo777 woo hoo glad it went well can't wait to see your beta number in 2 weeks. How do you power through the tww?

@beachbunnyxo123 congrats! Looks like a good starting number, can't wait to see how well it doubles in 2 days.

AFM bed rest/lounging time is almost done for me. I came home from the hotel today and as much as I was glad to be close to the clinic for the transfer, I am more glad to be home. Also my poor butt...I am getting lots of bruises from the pio and estrogen shots. My hubby is struggling with finding a non bruised spot to do the injection each day.

  • @lysslyss21 I know so sad we didn’t get our birthday presents!

Thank you everyone for the kind words!  I’m mostly just confused right now.  I wish I knew if this was ever going to work!  I just keep thinking am I putting myself and my hubby through too much only for it to never work.
  • @northbeach3 I honestly hadn't heard of it either until my RE did a hysteroscopy a couple months ago. He said he does them for anyone who keeps having failed cycle after failed cycle. When he did the hysteroscopy, he said there was a bunch of scar tissue, basically folding my uterus into itself making it teeny tiny. He said he cut the scar tissue out but it can come back. D&Cs can definitely cause it and he thinks that was likely the cause in mine. If you google "Asherman's Syndrome", you'll find a ton of stuff about it, but I'd definitely recommend talking to your RE about a hysteroscopy...

  • Reporting in as another BFN.

Both DH and I kept ourselves busy this past weekend to keep our minds off thinking about it.

We have 1 more frosty left that's PGS normal. I will definitely explore all possible avenues to make this next one stick. Financially, we'd have to wait until next year to do another round.

Hi all. Going a little crazy today. The 2WW is no joke! I’m 4 days in and I’m already scrambling for distractions.

Is light/mild cramping typical? This is my first FET and I’m now seeing how easy it is to fuss over every little twinge.
  • linxyzlinxyz member
@mo777 yup! very normal. twinging and light cramping is actually a good sign. I was the same way, paranoid about every symptom, you really can't help it. fx for some good news!

I'm sorry to hear about everyones' news...I can only hope that your REs discuss what went on and maybe change things up a bit next time. Please take good care of yourselves.

    Updates:

Heard baby's heartbeat last wednesday loud and clear. We officially graduated from our RE after that appointment. Seeing OB this thursday where I'll be 8 weeks!  Still very scared about miscarriage, but heartbeat reassured me a tiny bit.  It's so hard for me to believe that I'm actually pregnant despite the morning sickness.I think I'm a bit scarred from infertility and don't think I will truly believe it till the baby is born.

I guess this means I'm graduating from this board as well! :( Thank you all for the support and reassurances. Please don't give up hope! Wish you all the very best!

  • @mo777 absolutely normal, on my 3rd FET and had very mild cramping with each (including this one). And the 2ww is awful, I am so itchy to test but will wait for fri as that will be 9dpt.

@linxyz very happy and excited for you, what board are you going to check out first? There are the BMB and ones like PGAL or PGAIF. I personally will be joining the BMB once I get my confirmation (for me I have no doubt that it worked because staying positive just makes me feel better especially during the 2ww).

AFM just sitting around twiddling my thumbs til fri when I POAS, of course am symptom spotting one of the biggest ones I have had previously is heartburn and have that like crazy so that makes me feel super hopeful.

I have been testing since the transfer, all bfns so far

  • @justharrison I wouldn't worry about the negatives yet, still very early to try and get a positive. It feels impossible to wait sometimes it's better for sanity. Good luck and hope you get a positive soon.

  • @justharrison my transfer was on the 27th and I have been able to hold out so far. Hubby and I decided we would wait til 9dpt and that is fri. I have been getting the itch to test and so has he, he even said I could test tomorrow but I haven't committed to that yet. I don't want to feel like I am jinxing myself if I test before the day we agreed to. How are you feeling? Any symptoms?

@mo777 what about you? Any symptoms? Any cramping still if so hopefully still pretty mild. I can't remember if you plan to POAS before beta.

AFM heartburn raging on, I swear I look at food and it starts, yet I eat twice as often as normal. (All good signs from prior experience). Does anyone know if heartburn is a side effect of the progesterone? I know sore boobs and slight fatigue are so I don't count those 2 quite yet, cuz I sure do have both.

@mandurz I’m doing well. The cramping has pretty much subsided save for a little twinge here and there. No signs that can’t also be explained by the estrogen/progesterone/pregnyl boosters (dark nipples, sore breasts, bloating, random heartburn (this was bad the first week on progesterone), extra hungry, etc. We decided not to POAS and just wait - I know I won’t really trust the results but it is tough to resist! I have a whole stack of tests in the cabinet. I have my first beta next Monday then a second/confirmation beta the following Thursday....

So I failed to wait until Friday and totally should have. There is only a super faint line IF you hold it up to the light (using a FRER). So of course now I am slightly worried. I know logically it's still early and could be a day or two before it tests positive, but I can't help but to worry. I will likely still test again tomorrow and see if the faint line is visible without holding it up to the light. What this tells me (yes I know it could still go either way) is that likely only one of the two implanted. I am still hopeful and will not give up hope til the Dr says it's done (which absolutely WILL NOT happen, I am telling myself this worked without a doubt).
    Edit to add:
I did take a picture of the test within the window of when you are supposed to read it. The picture was of the test on the counter and doing some edits like taking out the color and darkening it because of a slight glare and I can almost definitely see the fainest line without holding it up to the light. I know some would shake their head thinking I am grasping at straws but I know most of you ladies would understand and have likely done some picture editing before to make sure you saw what you saw.

@mandurz i had cramping on 3dp5dt (all day long) and the nothing until yesterday when my breasts starting getting sore (and still are today)
i can never wait longer than 5dp a transfer to start testing. Did you test today? Any symptoms?
I took another hpt this morning and i can definitely see a second line (darker than yesterday mornings) however the one i took this evening looks comparable to this morning’s test. As i have had several chemicals pregnancies in the past i am afraid this was is going to be too (since there hasnt been any significant darkening of the lines). I cant wait until sunday to do my beta and get an actual number

    @mandurz
I missed this post when i was responding to your earlier post.

That is how my test was yesterday. My husband said i was crazy and he didnt see anything. But after 5 years i am great at spotting lines so i knew it was there. So i wouldnt worry, i am sure tomorrows test will show up better.
