@littlepeanutnumber3 I don’t really have any advice. I just suck it up and deal! Lol. Its not as bad when I’m driving so I’ve done more driving. But when I’m the passenger I just roll down the window, lean my head back and breathe deeply. Sipping on water helps but then I have to stop to pee all the time lol. Good luck on your road trip! I have 3 day one coming up on Sunday.
Diarrhea is out of control this week. We had a tornado warning today so my husband, dog and son and I were locked in the bathroom together. My stomach started gurgling and my husband almost kicked me out of our shelter.
Hello ladies, I'm 7 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Today out of all days throughout my pregnancy so far I feel angry and stressed. As most of us are going through these hormonal changes, I feel waves of queesiness and so desperate for a nap throughout the days. The only thing is, I'm still working. Today I feel angry at my coworkers (not because they directly did anything to me) but I just feel like I can run out of my work place. I just want to take a nice nap, but because I'm payed hourly I won't get paid for the time I leave.. How did you ladies manage with pregnancy hormones & work? Did you ever feel that tug of war between leaving work and feeling the need to stay because bills need to be payed & your place of employment pay scale suck so you feel the pressures of staying for the money? Please share your experiences or even respectful advice
@jellybelly8 I work 10-11 hour days because that's what my job requires. Then I go home and help my husband take care of our two toddlers. When they are in bed at 8:00, I relax for an hour and then get ready for bed. And start it all over again at 5:00 the next morning. I have no advice other than to mention that you can expect to be tired for the next couple of years. You learn to live with it.
@jellybelly8 - Basically if I don't scream at someone or start bawling, I consider it a good day. I actually prefer working (SAH isn't for me) and make good money, but doing anything while pregnant is fucking hard - working, SAH, or anywhere in between.
I'm on the verge of punching someone today, so it's not a good day. I've also already worked 10 hours at 3:10 PM (with at least a few more to go), so that doesn't help.
ETA: And @ruby696 is right - I get up weekdays at 5 and start working/get ready for work. If I am awake, I'm online and available - I'm a paralegal and largely negotiate sales contracts, so I have to be available. I help DH get them ready in the mornings and I'm at work by 7:30-8. I work until 4:30, work on the train home, pick the kids up at 5:30, make dinner, do laundry, and keep answering work emails. Our kids (4 and 2) go to bed between 7:30 and 9. I'm usually up most nights until 11 (while pregnant, I'm lucky if I make it to 9:30) and get up and do it all over again all week. On a good week, I work 50 hours - on a bad week, I work 80. Weekends, I'm up by 6:30 at the latest, feeding kids, taking them places and getting the shit done that doesn't get done during the week. When DH travels (which is often), I have to do it all by myself, pregnant or not. Working mom life isn't for the faint of heart.
@jellybelly8 I work in a hospital so I can’t really just take off whenever I want to, even though I am a salaried employee, because I provide direct patient care. The smells along with the physical and mental stress can really be exhausting. I took a nap during lunch at my desk today and everyone thought I was sick I also have 2 kids at home that I chase around as soon as work is over, and my toddler currently has an awful GI virus that just won’t quit. Bedtime is my favorite time of the day.
Just hang in there, knowing you’re about to be tired for the rest of your life haha. We feel your pain.
Oh and as far as advice is concerned, drink lots of fluids and try to keep some good, high protein snacks available throughout the day. I get hangry + nauseated if I don’t snack on the regular right now. Peppermints are also refreshing.
I’m wondering if I’m going to get weird hair stuff like last time. My stomach was like a giant peach and I would get one random ass long white hair out of the middle of my cheek.
@madreofdragons I had weird hair stuff last time too!! My husband liked to make fun of my beard/sideburns. So far no facial hair in sight, but I’ll keep you up to date lol
Super nauseous still. Many food adversions. Today seemed a bit better though! Very tired. I crash mid day. Luckily I work with my husbands cousins so if I need to put my head down a minute they understand. also.. yeast infection. Again!! I had one 2 weeks ago (at 5w) and a few days ago it came back. So miserable.
I haven’t eaten a meal in days and I’m hysterical. I’m so hungry but anything I eat comes back up. And they won’t give me a script for zofran like they have previously.
I just can't stop peeing... And I'm always thirsty ... So the cycle is really never-ending I'm also experiencing some pretty intense cramping, mostly in the evening. No bleeding or spotting so fingers crossed all is well. I do religiously check every panty liner and used piece of toilet paper just to make sure (I blame the baby brain for this paranoia)

Omg that sounds horrible! They won’t give you anything?! Have you been able to handle liquids? Maybe a smoothie would get something in your stomach?
@jellybelly8 I understand what you’re feeling completely. I have no energy and I find that’s effecting my ability to be motivated and empathetic in my job. I’m lucky in that my job is very flexible. I would advise you to take a long weekend if you have any sick time available to you.
So I started spotting today, first time ever in any of my pregnancies. Of course I totally freaked and I called my mom, because she's unfortunately had a lot of experience with that. She talked me down, said encouraging things, and convinced me to call the doc instead of lying around worrying. When I called the office the doc on call happened to be my ob who delivered my son, and he's very down-to-earth and sensible. "Yes, you can enjoy your day out with your family. But I'd recommend you don't have sex, that would just aggravate things." By the time I was off the phone with everyone, with an appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning, the spotting had petered off to just brown and basically gone. So now I feel a little silly, but on the other hand, it was sort-of time for my initial appointment anyway. And I also feel scared, and a little conflicted because this baby is a total surprise, change-your-life, you-need-to-buy-a-bigger-house and I just started getting used to the idea of being pregnant at all.
@kayjay44 its my first pregnancy so it is quite an adjustment dealing with the symptoms & such. Perhaps you felt the same? Who knows, perhaps my second pregnancy I'll know how to deal a whole lot better.
Actually, *TW* my brother committed suicide a month before my first pregnancy - I suffered from severe PTSD my whole first trimester.
I think the point that I (and others) are trying to make is that this phase of life, being pregnant, having young kids, it sucks. Not always. And parts of it at down right amazing. But this “longest shortest time” can be pretty shitty.
My biggest advice? Get as much rest and enjoy the downtime you have now. Having kids changes your priorities In so many ways. It can suck and it can be amazing. I wish someone had made that more clear to me with my first for sure - I didn’t take advantage of that downtime when I had it and I’m still wondering what we did with all our time and money. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but it’s also the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
@saraloveschunk I work nights too! And which masks are you talking about for acne? *Pencil poised to take notes*
@kayjay44@BourbonBiscuits NO FUCKING WAY. I also have nightmares about my emotionally abusive ex from college! He didn't cheat on me though. Physically. That I know of. But those are normal nightmares for me. I guess pregnancy likes to take things up a notch.

Did they say why the hell not??? I am so sorry. That sounds fucking miserable. My instinct is to offer suggestions but I'm sure you've tried them all. Are you feeling any better/kept anything down? Hang in there girl

@madreofdragons - the random facial hair is THE WORST. I typically have blonde hairs that pop up that I pluck. Yesterday I noticed them and they’re BLACK. Like black as friggen night. Ugh.
Are any of you getting the panorama NIPT test done? It says you can get it as early as 9 weeks and I’m scheduled for next Tuesday at 9w1d but I feel like that’s so early! With DS I didn’t get it until 11 weeks.
edited because I don’t know the difference between a question mark and a period.
@mainemama_ I plan to do the Panorama NIPT test and I did it with my last pregnancy as well. My doctor had me wait until after 10 weeks. I guess there is an increased chance of not getting reliable results if you do it sooner? I'm not positive, because it's been a few years. You might want to double check with you doctor/midwife.
Anyone else find they get sicker in the more pregnancies they have? With DD I was sick a few times. DS was about the same. This baby, I feel like death. Already having crazy amounts of MS, vomiting, diarrhea. Didn’t know if that was a thing to get sick in subsequent pregnancies. I’m also slightly paranoid because my OB made a comment that she didn’t think there was another baby in there. And I swear I can see it.
@rachstar18 - In order of sickness, mine go 3,1,2. DH says this is comparable to my first. I'm guessing it's another girl based on that. If there are two, I will lose my shit.
@mainemama_ I had my first prenatal yesterday and my dr told me she doesn’t do the NIPT test until after 10 weeks usually even closer to 11 weeks to ensure the highest accuracy. I would push it out if I were you.

Any suggestions for high protein snacks that are nausea-friendly? TIA

String cheese, hard boiled eggs, grilled chicken. Those are pretty bland, which is good for nausea.

@rachstar18 I have definitely gotten sicker each pregnancy, and agree with @kayjay44 if there is more than 1 I will lose it!!!
