Re: WTO Tuesday 6.19

  • @lulu1180 Why are uterine contractions after O a bad thing?
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

  • @luckywife10 I feel like I was noticing an increase, but perhaps with it being so close to my period was getting a lot of residual spotting. I'm going to take a break and probably start up again when I start doing my OPK's.
@suzycupcake I think uterine contractions can inhibit implantation.

  • @suzycupcake If you think about it, when you get your period, your uterus contracts, which in turn, sheds the endometrium (lining).
*TW* for general mention of loss and pregnancy
The same happens when someone experiences a miscarriage or when a woman gives birth; the uterus contracts.

So it would make sense that contractions of your uterus would inhibit implantation.

  • I’m up in the air about the uterine contractions and m/c connection. While in one hand it makes complete sense. One the other hand your Ute contracts with orgasm as well so therefore no sex and that doesn’t show a connection. That said I personally wouldn’t chance it, and given my history there will be no sex for me after O either.

  • @suzycupcake like I said in this/today's WTO, I couldn't seem to find the sources that convinced me to start drinking the green tea in the first place. All I've been able to find since have been posts on various TTC forums. This ( https://wehavekids.com/having-baby/Using-Green-Tea-To-Increase-Fertility ) is the closest I've found to real science. I need to do more research of my own because I feel like I'm reading in circles.

  • @meggyme I was talking about the uterine contractions preventing implantation

    @lulu1180 Thanks. *Tw in spoiler

Does the uterine contractions from orgasm shed the lining too? I'd be interested in a study like that to see if that affects uterine lining at all, at other times during the cycle. I experienced my first miscarriage in March. I did have sex and had orgasms. Now I'm wondering if that could've caused it. Maybe it dislodged the embryo. I'll never know why it happened. I'm a huge sciency type. I like to have the research, but I guess it's not always important because science cannot always have an answer for everything. I'd still love to read the research. When you said that, I thought maybe you've seen something that I haven't yet. So far, I've only seen hypotheses about having sex, but nothing about orgasm and nothing conclusive.

@suzycupcake I would say that once an embryo is implanted sex would not cause it to come loose, unless there were other signs (like sporting, leading to pelvic rest). But when a zygote is trying to implant being able to get situated could be effected.

Also in the sex vs EPO/green tea uterine contractions I would think the type of muscles contracting and the way they contract would make a difference. I need to re-watch the great sperm race, but I think orgasm spasms help move sperm to the Fallopian tubes where as other uterine contractions help push out.

Again, this is just what I think and vaguely remember. No studies to back it up.

  • @meggyme Thank you. Well, shit, sign me up for the green tea wagon. I'll take it and start drinking it!

  • @suzycupcake *TW CP*
The month I had my CP DH and I had sex on 8 DPO. I'm not entirely convinced the uterine contractions caused the CP or disrupted implantation, but we don't have sex after 3 DPO anymore while TTC. I'd rather not risk it! Also, I'm sure lots of people continue to HIO during the TWW and go on to have successful pregnancies, but after my experience I'm a bit superstitious now.

  • Part 3 of the great sperm race talks about female orgasm and it’s role in conception. Changes the ph of the vagina and the orgasm spasms help sperm get where they need to go. Doesn’t mention sex during tww though.
