This is a thread where anyone can feel free to request a chart stalk, second-guess FF's interpretation, or post TTC-related questions, regardless of where in your cycle you are. Sometimes FF is wrong. That's where we come in. Get your second opinion here!
I have a question: Has anyone with weird cycles/PCOS had any luck with Provera getting their cycle going and actually resulting in ovulation? I had one really long cycle (75 days) and am now on CD 40 of the next one and I have an appt with my OB in two weeks. I’d ideally like to try Provera first before jumping to Provera and Clomid, but wasn’t sure if it would just be a waste of time.
@dogmomma271 I can't say that Provera has ever actually brought on ovulation for me. I usually had something else that would help with that unfortunately. Like I took Provera recently, yet am on CD 31 now with no ovulation.
@sparklingdiamond Hm ok good to know! You said that you've taken metformin before, right? I want to research all of my options before my appointment - it's just my annual pelvic exam so I'm not sure how much time we'll have to talk about TTC or if I'll need to make another appointment. I'd rather not jump straight to meds, but if I'm not ovulating it seems like a big waste of time to keep waiting out these annoyingly long cycles!
@dogmomma271 My understanding is that provera is only to help induce your period and does not aid in ovulation in any way. During your appointment, I would mention your an-O cycles but wait until you’ve had a third cycle that’s at least 60 days with no confirmed ovulation. At that point, I would talk to your OB or get a referral for an RE. It’s ok to have your OB run some tests but once medication is suggested, I would go to an RE as they are the experts at monitoring your cycles and helping you get pregnant

@lulu1180 That's what I figured, I didn't know if there was any chance that it might jump-start a normal cycle. I didn't know if I'd be able to get a referral to an RE before a year of TTC, but maybe after 3 abnormal cycles? It'll be more than 6 months at that point, and I was already diagnosed with PCOS last month.
@dogmomma271 The general rule is 1 year but in your situation I would think an exception would most likely be made. It’s not as if you’re just impatient, have regular cycles, and don’t want to wait the full year of TTC

@lulu1180 Ok thank you for the advice! I keep hoping it’s just taking my body a while to regulate after a decade of BCPs but that’s looking less likely
@dogmomma271 Yea, I have been on metformin multiple times. I hate it (it gives me terrible stomach issues which is common), but am willing to take it if it helps. I was originally on 1000 mg, but didn't notice any improvements. I upped it to 1500 mg and then started having long cycles. I was trying just Ovasitol this time, but just added in 500 mg of metformin since my cycle seems worse than ever now. You can take Ovasitol and metformin together apparently. They kind of perform the same function, but Ovasitol is natural and doesn't give such bad stomach issues.
Possible *TW* cycles discussed prior to DD and after DD
I hope I'm not overstepping by asking this question, but I don't see how I can ask it without the background information. So, the last time we TTC'd, I was getting very little cervical fluid maybe 2.5-4 days with watery first, then like 1 or 2 ewcm, so it was pretty obvious when I would ovulate. I also tried using wondfo OPKs last time and I was never able to turn one positive, but based on temps, I was definitely ovulating.
Since my cycle returned I've been getting between 6-9 days of EWCM and O is sort of predictable, but I can't really pinpoint it like I could before. Would it be worth trying OPKs again? Should I try using a better brand than Wondfo? Something fancier like the CB digital? I'm not well versed in OPKs, so I don't really know where to start.
@general_organa as pregnancy changes our bodies and chemistry, I would say it's worth trying to add them again. I can't comment on the brand, I've only used Wondfos. You could try them again for a month and switch if you don't have luck.
Good morning ladies. Happy Sunday. Pretty sure this cycle is a bust temp-wise because of my UTI. I haven’t discarded any of the temps because it’s my first month tracking but my chart is all over the map. Had a positive OPK yesterday after FF initially predicted I O’d on Tues (CD12) based on my temps but my spike could’ve been a very mild fever? I don’t know. Anyway, my question isn’t actually about my chart.
How many of you got/use the VIP subscription for FF and do you think it’s worth it (as a new user)?

I bought it while TTC my first in 2015; it was a deal for $25 I think. You can put it on hold and then reactivate when you TFAS, which is what I did.
There are a lot of tools that they offer, but depending on your personality it may just feed the crazy, the pregnancy monitor in particular. I believe they offer a free trial, so maybe try that and decide from there. It’s nice to have but certainly not necessary to get the benefits of FF.
I do like the OPK line reader, which allows you to take pics and see them as a progression and also has some settings to try to see the lines better. It’s nicer than keeping opk’s taped To paper.

@kiki047 - I have VIP. Like @meggyme, i bought it on sale first. I like certain features, like the early pregnancy signs and detailed analysis of fertility signs. It definitely can feed the crazy, so I would try out the free version for 30 days (you will get free vip access for 30 days to see if you like the features) and then you can decide if you want them or not. I definitely like them, but i'm a data nerd and want all the info.
@meggyme thank you. FF comes with a free trial of (some of) the VIP features so I think they’ll disappear once the 30 day trial is up. Or at least that’s what I’m worried about. All my custom data that I track and whatnot. I do like the idea of the OPK line reader. Mine are all saved in my phone but it’s so confusing going back trying to figure out what I’m looking at.

@kiki047 if you stalk them on Twitter, they give away free VIP days all the time via limited use codes. You have to be quick to get them, but they do work. I bought VIP on sale, but I just got 30 more days via their twitter giveaway. Once your free trial expires you can see how many days you can get for free that way too. I really like to be able to track all my extra symptoms, and really like VIP. My subscription is almost up and I’ll probably give in and buy more days soon.
Got my Thermometer in today so I’m going to start temping tomorrow morning. I read if you sleep with your mouth open it can throw your temps. I am in face a mouth breather. Should I start off temping vaginally? What would be more accurate?
@JLaVO888 If you’re comfortable with it, temp vaginally. It will likely be more accurate, particularly if you breathe with your mouth open during sleep. I keep both the thermometer and a box of alcohol wipes on my night stand. I disinfect immediately after use; helps with the ick factor. Good luck! Hope temping gives you some good insight to your cycles
@JLaVO888 I second vaginally. I actually just responded to your Q in the WTO thread with a link to my chart so you can see the difference. I use disposable probe covers and just toss it once done (or when I wake up for the day, unless my cat eats it in that time frame )
Dear wise TTGP women, I am wondering if y’all can help me figure out what is going on with my body. (Also when I tried to add a spoiler at the end for the chart it added at the beginning and I can’t move it so, there’s my chart up there).
*TW pregnancy and loss - I had a D&C on 5/29. I bled on and off through CD7. On CD9 I started having EWCM on and off through CD16. Also on CD16 my hCG was down to 141. Decided to start temping on CD14 and my temp was kind of in between O and post-O temps, but closer to post-O. I had that about to cry feeling I get pre-AF as well. Then I started spotting on CD17 which turned into light flow for a couple hours. I took a bunch of Advil thinking I needed it but didn’t really have cramps. If I put the flow in FF turns that into CD1 so for the sake of sharing my chart I’ve changed it to spotting. Then spotting CD18 and also some today, CD19. But also have a massive temp dip as if I’m about to O today.
Because my hCG is not zero I can’t use OPKs - they will be false +. So. What do we think, was that breakthrough bleeding and this is still the same cycle, or was that CD1 and I had a very short an-O cycle followed by an extremely short AF? Oh also, I started taking melatonin at night around CD7. I know it can delay O but I figured it didn’t matter too much because after previous losses it took an extra 7-10 days to O anyway.
Hi @zamora_spin - I'm really not experienced enough to know how to interpret your chart, but I can see how you must be confused with all of the conflicting signs! Did your temp spike back up today or stay lower? It might be helpful to compare with how long it took for your cycles to become regular after your previous losses, but I'm unsure if that question is appropriate to ask (I'm new so please let me know).
@glossyibis Definitely fine to ask - and thanks for the response. I usually O between CD12-15 for comparison. *TW - after my first loss (used cytotec) I O’d around CD25, after third loss (D&C) I O’d around CD21. Second loss was a CP and I O’d CD18 the following cycle. In some of those cycles I have had weird CM patterns, but never mid cycle bleeding once the bleeding had stopped lost-loss end TW*
Today I temped a bit later but my temp was still very low - 97.1. Usually my temp hits in the 96.9 - 97.1 right before O. I spotted through yesterday and today not much CM.
I should also mention we are TTA preparing to move to IVF - so I’m trying to figure out my cycle mostly so I’ll have a better idea of what our IVF timeline will be/if I have to redo CD dependent testing beforehand I want to know when to expect it.
@zamora_spin first of all so sorry to see you back here old friend. I would say that until your HCG is zero then you can’t rely on your temps either most likely.
Though I’m surprised three weeks after a D&C your HCG is still high. I assume you’re talking with your Ob/RE each week about this. Most will strongly suggest that HCG is zero before trying again. But as you’re TTA anyhow then I guess it’s ok.
I would also say don’t worry too much about knowing where you are exactly in your cycle. If you have an appointment with the RE in the next weeks they should be able to tell where you are in your cycle, and if they want to time your start for IVF will either use BCP or something like Provera.

@emmasemm Thanks, lady, I'm sorry you are still here. I saw that you did get one frostie from last cycle and I'm hopeful you can bank up some more in the coming months. I honestly don't know how you do it all, work and traveling for IVF and coordinating everything.
**TW loss - my hCG is dropping pretty well given it was very high during this past pregnancy - about 37k at 6w. They will keep checking every two weeks until it is below 5 but I expect it will be below 5 sometime this week. end TW**
We are trying get into our clinic's guarantee program (up to three retrievals and unlimited transfers of healthy embryos, but you have to transfer all healthy embryos before cycling again, so you can't bank unless you get lucky) which guarantees a live birth or you get the clinic costs refunded. But there are requirements for getting into it - including a certain AMH, FSH and AFC requirements for me, a bunch of other testing that is not CD dependent (pretty standard I think, they want to make sure we don't have infectious diseases and whatnot), and technically RPL is a condition that they review eligibility on a case by case basis. I spoke with the financial counselor this morning and she said she is sending something to the nurses at my clinic and they will review my file to see what testing we need to redo. She asked me what CD I was and I was like... well, funny you should mention that... If we don't have to redo the CD3 testing I am hoping we can get into the August cycle but if we have to redo it I think it's unlikely given my wonky cycle that we'll have time to do CD3 testing over and get qualified to start in August.
My temp went back up but I also didn't sleep well last night. I'm kind of leaning toward the bleeding just being breakthrough bleeding and also guessing I'm still WTO.
*TW - loss* @zamora_spin My cycles after losses were all over the place. I had patches of very wet CM and EWCM, followed by dry and back to wet or even over a week of fertile CM. One of my cycles post MC I had breakthrough bleeding right before O, which I have never had in my life. It only happened that one cycle. I believe it's my August chart if you want to look.
ETA to add chart:
Although the temps are all over the place, I could see a general downward trend in temps as the HCG drops.
Like @emmasemm said, I wouldn't try to pin down where you are in your cycle. I understand if you want to feel some control over the process, but the RE will be able to help.
ETA2: Oh also, you can add flow to your chart and if FF makes it a new chart, you can always merge it with your previous chart to make it all one cycle.

Hi ladies - does anyone have a strong opinion for or against preseed? Are there any other alternative products I should look into?
I'm questioning whether I may have low CM, and so I feel like preseed can't hurt, but I'd like to hear other opinions. I've been googling for studies and other data and I'm not finding much. Thanks!!
@nativetexan512 I looked into this recently. Preseed only helps if you don't get arousal fluid and need it for sex to be more comfortable. Because the preseed only goes in your vagina and not past your cervix, it does not help the sperm travel to the fallopian tubes. It's only a sperm friendly lube. Preseed is not a replacement for cervical mucus.
ETA: you might want to introduce yourself in the weekly intro thread.

Omg. What is going on here? I was fully expecting a temp spike this morning and THIS is what I get. WTF. Did I not ovulate yet?! Is it "safe" to compare to previous charts since I switched to vaginal this cycle?
ETA link to my FF for review of past charts and to say I have only had 2m where the rise was gradual. Normally it's a sudden spike. Why does TTC have to suck?
@prpl11butterfly I would say that you have not O'ed yet. Best to keep hio and see what the next couple days temps bring. Do you normally get a few days of positive OPK's?
@nitnat007 2 seems pretty standard. Yesterday after work it was more + then the day before. But that one was definitely positive as well. Last month FF pins O for the the day of the first + but most others are the 2nd day. Last night I had some pain in the region of my right ovary. Along with that a tremendous surge of EW/W CM so I thought for sure it had happened. Now my CM has transitioned to creamy (I was so irritated by my temp that I didn't check it until I was almost ready to leave the house) but I usually have 1 day of EW/W after O. I'll try and get DH on board to HIO tonight but I don't have high hopes since he's traveling home this morning. Tw, loss mentioned
I feel like this cycle should have been the official "new normal" being 3rd after loss (Doc says 3m for all hormonal changes to level out) and yet it seems to be the one giving me the most confusion.
@prpl11butterfly I think there's a good chance that yesterday may have been O but unfortunately you'll have to wait and see what your temps do in the next couple days to confirm. The EWCM you just found would go along with your "normal" as you said you usually get one day of EW/W CM after O. Also, as much as this doesn't necessarily help you feel better, sometimes our bodies just like to be jerks and change things up a bit. I do hope yesterday was it for you and that temps the next couple days cooperate!

Thanks @lulu1180. It would for sure be more consistent with my "usual" but a temp spike would have just made me feel so much better. My body is greatly achieving jerk status today.
@nativetexan512 Some folks don't like preseed but I have found it useful. I don't necessarily think it increases pregnancy rates, or if so, by a very negligible amount, but if you need/want lube during ttc it's a good idea because it's sperm safe. For me it took some pressure off to use it and not rely on my body to produce enough lube, especially during FW when we needed to do it as much as possible. @prpl11butterfly I agree you'll have to wait and see, but it's also possible today will be O. It can be hard to tell when you have a slow rise exactly which day is O, so hump it out again if you can!
@zamora_spin I'm gonna try. Gotta take a look at my lingerie sitch (not sure much will fit at this point) and probably put some batteries in some things. That should keep it fun and interesting enough to get results. Lmao
@prpl11butterfly - It's always much nicer to see a big, distinct temp shift after O for sure. But, for example, my cycle this go around had a tiny shift of only a few points of a degree with my "high" being much lower than usual at 97.3 So you could have still O'd yesterday and this first shift will look better as part of a steady climb. Hopefully tomorrow will bring more clarity and reassurance!

Here's a list of the functions you get with a free vs. vip membership, so you can see if it's something you use when you give it a try: https://www.fertilityfriend.com/comparison.html.
happy charting!

*TW - loss*
@zamora_spin My cycles after losses were all over the place.

Thanks!!
ETA: you might want to introduce yourself in the weekly intro thread.
@meggyme thanks for the fast response. That makes sense that it's vaginal only, I am definitely still thinking that it can't hurt at this point.
ETA link to my FF for review of past charts and to say I have only had 2m where the rise was gradual. Normally it's a sudden spike. Why does TTC have to suck?

@prpl11butterfly I agree you'll have to wait and see, but it's also possible today will be O. It can be hard to tell when you have a slow rise exactly which day is O, so hump it out again if you can!
