@Selina1313 @echo-charlietango@kristah2@katy0990 I can't even believe some of those reactions. I don't understand how any grandparent or great grandparent can think anything but positive or happy thoughts at the news of a new baby in the family! And if they really can't share in your joy, at the very least they should keep their unsolicited opinions and judgement to themselves. Not to mention, they should respect your wishes, choices, and decisions surrounding the birthing process and childrearing, seeing as how YOU ARE THE MOTHER OF THIS CHILD. Ugh. I don't get people sometimes.
We had some unexpected reactions too though not so extreme. My family was excited and supportive (which was surprising seeing as they are opposed to us co-habitating without being married). But SO's dad's reaction was stoic and borderline cold. This will be his first and probably only grandchild. He didn't smile. He didn't ask any questions. When I started talking about the pregnancy, he told me to stop because he didn't want to know. Not exactly the excited response we were both expecting. SO's parents were supposed to move to Kentucky in September. We thought this news might change their minds. Apparently not. Disappointed, but to each their own. At least my family is excited, and they will be close enough by, at just about 1.5 hrs away. So we'll have some family to celebrate with.
And on a different note, I shared my news with coworkers at one job today! I borrowed the pizza idea I saw someone else post a few weeks ago (sorry I'm not giving direct credit! I forget who it was and I'm too lazy to look back! Whoops!).
I made all the kids' outfits for ours. They're wearing them for our ultrasound next month too and we'll do another shoot with baby's gender filled in. I'm surprised how well they cooperated for this one...especially the littlest... We're at the point that people just roll their eyes when we say we're having another and say "This is it? Right?"
@kristah2@katy0990@Selina1313 I am so sorry you guys, and any others I forgot to tag, are dealing with such horrible responses to your amazing, happy news. It really saddens me that 1) they're not happy for you and 2) they can't even PRETEND to be happy.
We are announcing on Saturday. I wanted to do balloons in a box with my ultrasounds attached to the strings. DH kinda just wants to do the big brother shirt... think I'm going to go with my idea so I can get everyone's reactions.

@katy0990 Regarding your MIL: Holy shit, what? "Very strained" sounds like a nice way to put it. I am so sorry you have to deal with that. Why is it that sometimes parents can't accept their kids' partners? I mean, there is a lot of crazy out there but they would still have to figure it out on their own..
@ab_canada It is really sad. As much as I want to hate her, I can’t help but feel sorry for her. She pushes everyone in her life away. She is going to be 70 this year and there is not anyone she has never had a falling out with. She is always moving and thinks it will make her happy, but it never does. I just feel so bad for MH because she is still his mom and he just wishes they could have a stable relationship.
I feel so sorry for everyone who has family that isn't being supportive! Please remember that there are others out there supporting you if your family isn't - friends, other relatives, etc!
My parents are ecstatic and my husband's mom is definitely excited. His dad is excited in his own way, but he's processing, lol. He keeps saying "He's not ready to be a grandfather." ...except he's 70 years old. We can tell he's looking forward to it, but he's just getting there emotionally, haha.
We're getting ready to announce on social media this week - I can't wait.
Finally took the leap and announced on FB today! I didn't know if I really wanted to, but in the end I figured it was the best/easiest way to get word out to all of our extended family (immediate family and close friends already knew). I didn't really take the time to come up with a cute/creative announcement. Here's what I posted, along with some pics of DH and I and then the US pic:
"10 years ago today I took a chance and asked this guy to the movies. He said yes, and 3 months later we were engaged! After living it up as a pair for the last 10 years, we're headed in a new direction. Our greatest adventure yet begins this December when Baby [last name] makes 3!!! So excited to share this life with you! I love you! ❤️

@AdorkablePixie I think the balloons with the US pic sounds super cute! And way more fun! Would you record it? If so, then you can always have your DS in his shirt as part of the video, or immediately after the US goes up.

@mag1cbeli3ver Yes, we will record it. I told DH last night I'm doing the balloons because that's way more fun and I'll know when they can see it and I can get a video. With DS in a shirt who knows when or if anyone would even notice!

We got to announce this weekend! Unfortunately, my mom screwed her dates up and thought the party was Sunday so she still doesn’t know and because of that, neither does any of my side of the family. I will tell her this weekend. Now for pictures!
I put balloons in the box to pop out when she opened it. The printed out ultrasound pics I hadn’t to tape to the inside of the box because they weighed down the balloons too much when I tried taping them to the strings. She cried. Everyone was really excited/happy.
This was taped inside the box.
This is the picture I will send to my family that’s too far away to tell in person.

We told all our family members in person, or over the phone pretty quick after finding out we were pregnant. I also told close friends, but we just announced on Facebook and Instagram yesterday! I had my 12 week appointment Friday and all seemed well, so I figured that now was as good a time as any. I did a sidewalk chalk photo session with DS. He is also wearing his Big Brother shirt with Only Child crossed out. Photo in spoiler!
(Yes due date is in Jan but we are having a scheduled c-section December 31st. I figured I would just go with the month I am technically "due". Haha)
Our Facebook post was worded "we thought our son was so cute, we thought that we'd make another 'mini'. We will be welcoming a little BROTHER to our family in December!"
@hellohilly Depends on where your video is hosted. If it's on youtube or vimeo, just share the link. If it only lives on Facebook I think the only way you can share it is by making the video public and sharing the link. I wouldn't be comfortable sharing that much info, so I don't blame you if you don't share it either.

@Jens_Hoes we went up to Saratoga to go for the elective ultrasound and then decided since we were up that way we would take my son on the boats in lake George since he loves all things transportation lol. It was such a nice day!
@clbness Great!! I took my mom a minute to catch on, which didn't surprise me! lol DS and I handed her the balloon that said "oh baby" and I guess she just thought it was a random balloon he was playing with. The she goes, "oh baby... wait... are you pregnant?!" haha

@AdorkablePixie It always cracks me up when people don't get it at first! My MIL and my Mom were both a little slow this time. Eeeppp, I can't wait to see your reveal...I'll be stalking!!
We were going to do the whole nursery-under-construction-don't-open-til-December thing (with DD standing in front of the door in a big sister shirt holding the ultrasound), but DH remembered that our friend had done that (how he remembered that, but can't remember what I told him 10 minutes ago, but whatever!), soooooo we're not now. Since we're big GOT fans, I bought a Mother of Dragons shirt for me, Father of Dragons for MH, Little Dragon for DD and a Baby Dragon onesie for LO. We'll just post a pic of us in the shirts with a GOTesque caption. I effed up and ordered the shirts from an Etsy shop in the Ukraine, so it'll be a couple of weeks before we announce...oops! All of our immediate family and close friends know, so I don't really care about keeping the FB world in the dark.
@clbness That is going to be so cute!!! haha That's funny about your husband's memory. I could say the same thing about some of the things my husband remembers vs. doesn't remember.

Posted this on FB last night with the caption, “Winter (baby) is coming! Adding another dragon to House F**** December 2018.” DD’s shirt says Little Dragon. It’s hard to read since she’s twisting to put her arm around me.
@clbness I love it. When your friend (or maybe it was family, can't remember) posted that picture of you over the weekend I could totally see your bump and I was reading the comments to see if anyone pointed it out. lol!

@AdorkablePixie Thank you! Blarg, yes, it was a friend I hadn’t seen in over 10 years! MH’s Grandma actually posted a comment like, “oohh, I see a baby bump there!” I saw it the next morning and asked my friend to delete the comment. Sheesh!
