I'm currently at home with DS waiting for his 2 year well check appointment, afterward I'll drop him off at daycare and head to work.
I can't remember what my work schedule looks like this week, so I'll see what I'm in for when I get to my office. I need to have my local tire shop order new tires for my car and have them installed this weekend; but I also have to find out if my mom is available on Saturday morning to help me out since H is going golfing first thing. The weekend after that I'm getting my car inspected and I don't know that it will pass unless I have new tires since the tread is pretty low. I already know it's going to cost $800-1000 for this, so I'm really not looking forward to it. Ugh. One of the pros of owning a new car is I've had to do nothing with it so far, the con is that I have to replace all 4 of everything at once when it comes time.
@nlc8424 that sucks about the tires. I hit a huge pothole over the winter and had to replace two tires. I was so annoyed at the time, but I guess the bright side is in a few years when the originals wear out I’ll only need to do two? i have my last hypnobirthing class this week. I’m really sad about that, I’m loving the class and getting so much out of it. But we’re so busy now that I’m worried I won’t have time to do much practice when I’m not being assigned homework.
@nlc8424 bummer about the tires. There are some things that are not fun to pay for and tires are one of them. We need a new roof and are getting estimates right now, not so much fun!
This is my last week of teaching summer school, hoping it goes quickly. The weather has been ridiculous where I live, heat index around 101. I don't know how pregnant women who live in areas that this is regular do it. I am a wuss.
Had DS 30 month check-up today and now I’m at the office. Actually ordered a couple things for baby’s nursery decor. We will reuse most things, but got a new crib skirt and throw pillow sham. Now I need to find a coordinating rug and some blackout curtains. Other than those and clothes, new bottle nipples, pacis, etc we will be good. DH put the crib together and set up the nursery over the weekend, too. I guess getting the hospital pre-registration and formula samples at my appointment last week lit a fire for us. Crazy how fast the second tri has flown after the first tri took forever.
@nlc8424 Hope his checkup goes well! I was in the same boat with my new car - we bought it right before DD was born and I had to replace all 4 tires last fall. @jaylii How fun! Are you going somewhere tropical? @spottedginger Crib skirt! I need to add that to my list; I think I saved DD's but hers had pink on it and that won't match the nursery.
I'm really tired today...our friends were over really late Saturday night and then I stayed up too late last night going through a huge bag of baby boy clothes my friend gave me and watching Grey's Anatomy. Going to lunch with some friends/coworkers today to a place that has the BEST pimento cheese sandwich so that is keeping me going . DD has dress rehearsal for her dance recital this week; selfishly, I'm glad dance is almost over for the year so we can have our Wednesday nights free with no lessons!

I woke up late today and was so tired that I thought I should just stay home. But, I’m very methodically saving my days for maternity leave. So I got up and immediately took a benedryl instead of my thyroid pill. Oops! This is going to be interesting.
I’m on the bus to work now. I’m hoping that coffee and going for frequent little walks will help me stay awake!
@magnolia209 whew that's quite the switch! I hope you're able to stay awake and function. I feel you on methodically saving days off, it totally sucks.
@nlc8424 I have never taken the wrong pill before. I have a whole system to keep my morning away from anything I take at night. Luckily, it’s beautiful here today and I don’t think I have big meetings so I’m hoping to be able to pull this off! But, yep. I should have just stayed in bed! Having to save days sucks!
@magnolia209 I so wanted to stay home today, too! Hope caffeine and walk breaks help!
One of my coworkers has a cup of chocolate pudding in the office fridge and now all I want is chocolate pudding. Also, she put her initials on it and it makes me want to eat it even more.

First day back at work after nearly a week off. Definitely wanted to sleep in more. Our return flight was delayed by 3 hours. Not tons but enough that it meant we were up later unpacking and doing laundry. Which was unfortunately necessary because I only have a week's worth of maternity clothes. I do have a fun potential staging this week so I'm looking forward to that!
@nlc8424 Ouch, that sucks about the tires. Nice you haven't had to do anything up until now though! How long have you had it?
@jaylii Yay week long vacations! It's so nice to get away for that long.
@lisac113 We regularly have those temps. It's not so bad when not pregnant. But this summer I'm getting dizzy from it. Definitely spending more time indoors this season than I usually do.
@spottedginger Hahaha I agree! First trimester was SO slow. Then second completely flew by for me. Sounds like y'all are getting a lot done this week.
@southernlady07 I've been hearing that about sports/dance from a lot of moms lately. Like, I want LO to be well rounded and participate in things but I also really like having free evenings. I'm not sure if we'll be encouraging group activities unless he asks to do it TBH. Did you like it overall?
@magnolia209 Benadryl on top of already being tired. I hope you get to take those walks.
@southernlady07 thank you for making me want chocolate pudding now. I am so impressionable when it comes to food.
I made cinnamon rolls from scratch yesterday, and mmmm they are delicious! I really need to share them with others though because H doesn’t like sweets and I don’t need that many cinnamon rolls.
I leave tonight for a couple days in Wisconsin visiting my corporate office. I just checked the weather and the highs are in the 70s...I am so excited relief from this southern heat!!
We are leaving for our annual camping trip (3.5 days) on Thursday, so I'm making packing lists and worrying about weather. There's 15 people going total, and we're talking about switching campgrounds (and states potentially!) but luckily my friend who is organizing is awesome at doing that, so I'm not going to stress. Hopefully the weather calms down and everything goes off as originally planned, or any other way that doesn't include thunderstorms in a tent with a toddler.

@SkilledSailor I've had the vehicle for 3 years. I'm at about 49500 miles, so I drive quite a bit unfortunately. No 10,000 mile years for me! So yup, totally necessary to replace them and I'm lucky I made it almost 3 years without replacing the breaks until last month. I also only have a week of maternity clothes too so laundry is always necessary for me each weekend.
@pourmeamocktail so exciting! Is this the camping trip that is a million adults to your one toddler? Do the other people help/play with your son?
Yup, I think this year it's 12 or 13 adults, our one small dog, and 1 toddler. Last year probably half of the adults played with/helped entertain him, but last year he was exactly 12 months old, no words, only kinda eating real food-nursing a ton and not walking at all.
This year I'm assuming much more interaction just because it's easier for people without kids to casually hang out with a toddler that has some words, some independence, etc. Assuming weather works out (supposed to be in the mid 70s, which is perfect if it's not storming!) this should be pretty good and pretty easy.

@pourmeamocktail It sounds like it will be a lot of fun. You’re right, toddlers are a little easier for people not comfortable around kids to hang out with.
@nlc8424 I use this recipe every time. The dough isn’t very sweet which I think makes them even better. I always share them anytime someone is sick, someone passes away or someone is just going through a tough time. https://www.jocooks.com/recipes/cinnabons-cinnamon-rolls/
@nackie@southernlady07 if I could I promise I would share them! I’m going to make a little care package for my neighbor that walks my dog when I travel so her and her H can enjoy.
This week started off okay till I got to work ( I work outside) the heat was killing me and even though I ended up going inside to do some work I could barely breath. Manger sent me home at lunch which baby was excited about cause she kicked for a good 20 minutes after I got home The rest of the week is going to consist of going to work half days till the heat isn't as bad, finishing up the nursery (almost done!!!) and starting to look into design ideas for our basement...hello remodeling! This weekend H has a work function to attend and I get to go. It's a lunch cruise thing. I'm honestly just going for the food lol. But apparently everyone in his office wants to see my belly, I think it's odd since I have only met like 3 of these people.
@lpq0309 people have a very strange fascination with pregnant people and their bellies! Sorry the heat is hurting your work schedule this week, but it sounds like it will give you a chance to get a few things done around the house.
@southernlady07 We're going to Cape Cod, MA. Not tropical but still beautiful beaches and one of my favorite places on earth. @klj0228 Cinnamon rolls sound amazing. Now I want one! @pourmeamocktail Have fun on the camping trip! Love having a big group together for several days while camping. @nlc8424 Ugh, car maintenance is such a pain and expensive! @SkilledSailor Hope you had a great vacation and that this week goes easy on you.
@SkilledSailor It definitely seems more common now than when I was growing up for kids to be in lots of different activities. So far, my DD has done tumbling/ballet, swim lessons and soccer and loved them all! We'll have a break in June and July and then starting in August she'll do dance again one weeknight and soccer on Saturday mornings. MH and I try to trade off taking her to lessons so we each get a break. It will for sure be more difficult with two kids in activities in a few years! @klj0228 Those cinnamon rolls sound fantastic! And that will be such a nice break from the heat to head north! @pourmeamocktail Oohh camping!! That sounds like so much fun. We try to go to a different state park every few months and I'm getting the itch to go once more before baby arrives. @jaylii I've heard Cape Cod is beautiful! I'd love to spend more time on the Northeast coast. Hope you have a relaxing vacation!

Just took a shower and was packing so I am ready for my trip. When I got out of the shower an email from the airline saying my flight was cancelled. Now I’m on the phone with our travel agent trying to rebook travel to leave tomorrow. While I was/am excited about this trip and seeing work people it is nice to get to sleep in my bed tonight and take care of my own animals in the morning. Also makes for a shorter trip!!
This day is going great. Found out I'm anemic this morning and then our vet left a VM saying that my dog has a bad UTI. She's been peeing in the house occasionally the last few months. I'm glad she doesn't have a problem with major organs, but I also feel terrible. She must feel awful and I had no idea.
@jaylii I’m sorry it’s been a rough day. Now that you know your pup has a uti hopefully the antibiotic will get her feeling better soon! In my experience with cats with utis they start to feel better pretty quick after starting their antibiotic.
@klj0228 OMG I think I have all the ingredients to make those. Thanks for sharing and yay for another night at home. @jaylii I hope the UTI resolves quickly.

This week our company launched a new program to promote people from the field to HQ, so I've been reviewing employee resumes and coaching all weekend. I've got a huge visit on Wednesday for a new pilot program our store is involved in. Mostly lots of work. I am looking forward to utilizing a gift card for a prenatal massage.
Anybody else starting their maternity leave countdown yet? lol
@samd6 ah you sound like my husband! He's been working his tail off recently for his managers with coaching and documentation and meetings, long long hours. He's in retail management as well. Just last night he said, "I think I'm over doing the retail management thing". Which I totally don't blame him. He'll probably be looking for a new job after baby gets here. This scares the crap out of me since all of us are on his medical plan currently, and DS is on his vision and dental too. There are some other pleasant benefits with his job that we will also miss too if/when he leavea.
@EErin86 gah! There are so many iterations and what you like is very family specific. Personally, I don’t use cream cheese or Gouda. Only hand (or food processor) grated sharp white and yellow (half and half) cheddar cheeses. Let me see if I can find a close approximation online.
@eerin86 If you want to go extra southern with it, make cornbread to dip in it! Nom nom.
@samd6 Sorry you're working so much lately. A prenatal massage sounds like a wonderful way to treat yourself! I'm hoping I can get one sometime this summer.
@nlc8424 Maybe he'd be able to find a job with similar benefits? My H has been on the hunt and that's a big thing he looks at with potential new jobs since we're on his as well.
WTF Tuesday: One of my movers messaged me this morning because he had a flat and wouldn't make it to the job. Ok no big deal. But then also said he's "90% sure he has a cold too so wouldn't be able to work anyway". Um dafuq? I'm 100% sure I'm pregnant and I can work through it. All this is moot since the job was pushed back just before he messaged me anyway but I could not believe he was going to call out because he thinks he has a cold. Men.
