@mamajudec2018 I love this. We announced with mybstepdaughter holding a sign, but I plan on telling our journey as well and posting another photo similar to this.
Originally I planned to do a mason jar full of pink and blue jelly beans spilling out with an ultrasound pic in it captioned "time to spill the beans, baby last name coming Dec 2018" but.... apparently I'm not getting an ultrasound that looks human before the anatomy scan... can't do NT screen because the ultrasound tech is out sick long term... Hope they're ok! Plan B: we are going to do a family photo announcement.. DS is going to be holding a sign that says something to the effect "mommas belly is growing" and kissing my tummy... I'm going to be holding a sign that says something like "So our are hearts" and kissing DH who will be holding a sign that reads "baby last name Dec 2018" haven't quite decided on my wording yet, but I got white poster board for it today, gonna get DS to help me splatter blue and pink paint on it before i do the lettering... Ill post them when i finish them up!
@katy0990 Thank you! One of my girlfriends, who I also used to work with, bought donuts for the office and the sign said something like, “if my mommy’s gaining weight, so are you guys!”
We just told the kids by giving them these. They’re so excited, it was so sweet. I’d been so nervous to tell them and the smiles on their faces made me feel so much better.
Can you all tell me what you think of this? My daughter has always been into peppa pig and so for a while now my husband has been "daddy pig" and "mommy pig". I was thinking of posting this as a fb announcement .is it clear what we're getting at? Is it lame?
@GoyaBean913 I think it's cute. Maybe if you put it on social media, the photo caption can say something like "can't wait to add another peppa pig fan to the family" or something if you want to make sure it's clear.
We told my family tonight by using a gift for my niece. A onesie that said "I may be little, but I'm going to be a big cousin again!" hidden in a box under a bunch of other clothes we got for her. Everyone's reaction was perfect! My brother in law saw it first, pointed at me and mouthed, "you?". He was very cool and sneaky about it, folded it back up and handed it to my sister to unfold, and as she did, the sonogram fell out and she put the pieces together. Priceless watching her face!
I am so happy that my super conservative Catholic family is actually excited and supportive, considering SO and I aren't married. We were not sure what reaction we would get, but so thrilled everyone shared in our joy!
@GoyaBean913 I think it's perfect and super sweet to include your daughter in it like that. But if you want it extra clear, go with @morgantu 's suggestion.
Some of these ideas are amazing we didn't really feel like we had to announce it we told all those close to us but we put up a photo of the ultrasound on Facebook because both my mother and the MIL wanted to post something and had been dropping hints like crazy but I've said nothing about my baby gets put up before either my husband or myself do
We told our parents and friends this weekend. Friends we announced at my spouse’s 10yr reunion, it was lovey since everyone was there and another couple in the group had announced at an earlier event. So exciting.
We took my parents and ILs out to dinner and gave the Grandpa’s an early Father’s Day card. The card said basically luckiest Grandpa’s luckiest grandkid and the first had a non-winning lotto ticket (we both have infertility dx, so this is a very lucky conception). We said “oh no, that’s the wrong ticket, I messed that card up, here’s the right one!” Gave them another card (same exact one) but this one had a sonogram and said “Love, your favorite grandson and your favorite granddaughter!” (There are no other grandkids on either side)
We thought they’d be thrilled. They were not excited, asked no questions, and quickly dropped the subject and didn’t mention it again. Later when I asked about it, MIL said she refuses to be excited bc baby won’t be born on the East coast (we might be moving). I know our parents aren’t the greatest, but I was still pretty floored. Thankfully we have wonderfully supportive friends and loved ones who are all overjoyed by our miracle bean to make up for it.
... MIL said she refuses to be excited bc baby won’t be born on the East coast (we might be moving) ...
Omg. She needs to get over herself. Not getting excited because of potential birth location is total BS. I’m pissed off for you because I move often (even when not married to military), and that excuse is so shallow and selfish. Ugh!

@hbmama21 your announcement sounds adorable! That is amazing that you guys were able to conceive despite the odds. I am glad you have many supportive friends who are excited for you. It’s still stings though, when family is too immature to share in your joy. I am so sorry you have to deal with that.
