Dry wall is finished, mudding is finished, now sanding and I can finally order the flooring (once DH tells me the square footage) and I can pick out the paint. I'll get to post finished nursery pictures in this thread one day lol
I having a hard time deciding if I want to hang something over the crib or the changing table other than a having a decal. I know art pieces can be hung securely but since we live in Cali and at risk of earthquakes I'm a little nervous. Thoughts?
@kissableviv I hadn’t thought about having to worry about that in earthquake prone areas. Could you maybe get some cute unframed prints to decorate the walls? There’s some super cute things on Etsy.
@kissableviv we feel the same way about hanging things over our heads. I doubt we will hang anything over the crib. With the earthquakes it just makes me nervous no matter how secure it may be.
@kissableviv hanging something over where the babies sleep makes me nervous and I won't be doing it. We're in the Bay Area CA so we have earthquakes. I am thinking of doing an accent wall with fun wallpaper over the crib. I would also be ok with something soft like those stuffed animal heads or a tapestry. In my opinion, no matter how well something is hung, there are no guarantees in earthquakes and it's not worth the risk or stress.
@runsomewhere agreed. I have a dream catcher a friend gave me that I'll be hanging in there somewhere and I'm getting some decals on Etsy. I have a couple of quotes I'd like to print and and up and might be printing them on foam so with command strips they should be secure and they won't do any damage if they fall.
@kissableviv why risk it over the crib? Just use decals, or I have a small banner flag behind where my daughter's crib was.
Here are some before work started and after of the new nursery. I will take more pics tomorrow after I buy and build the furniture (the curtains will be changed out too)
kissableviv we hung a wooden monogram on the crib wall and just pulled the crib off the wall a bit. Its pretty secure but just incase it falls, it will fall straight down (behind the crib) and not topple over on the baby or crib.
@kissableviv@babygagnon2018 We also have the crib pulled away from the wall a good bit..not in the picture but on a normal basis because there is an outlet back there and some things will be plug into it. For safety, we have the picture (plastic frame, no glass) anchored with straps to the wall (similar to how you would anchor a dresser to the wall). We also live on the east coast and do not have earthquakes so that isn't a huge concern but you can never be too safe.
@SmashJam I am sure you have a crib- but lol I got it from amazon for like 90 bucks!?! (the most expensive thing in that room and I feel like that was a steal!) Also thank you! @ssthomps thank you!!! I am pretty happy with this space- wish I my master bedroom was this bright and cheery!
@jbosch30 oh wow that's impressive. I was hoping to get some wallpapering tips from you lol! Also, your nursery makes me want to be somewhere happy and tropical right now.
Finally making some progress on the nursery. Finally put the polka dots on the wall, waiting for Hubby to come home from getting oil changed so we build the crib. Already have the dresser.
@noideawhatshesdoing Your whole nursery is great but I'm especially intrigued by what I think is a stuffed bag of cheesy poofs??? Where did you get that?
@jbosch30 i know my Lilly when i see it! A lover of Lilly, i can’t wait to do some mommy and me outfits, but i do want to incorporate something Lilly into her room somehow.
Re: Let’s talk Nursery!!
@zande2016 love the wall color and rug!! Where did you find the rug? And the Pooh lamp is adorable
@MrsMiller8588 I think white would look nice.
@carsonraynee that’s awesome! So much progress! I’m kinda jealous you get to build it from scratch!
We painted and have the glider and crib in the room! No more ugly pink on the walls

@jbosch30 love this.
@ssthomps thank you!!! I am pretty happy with this space- wish I my master bedroom was this bright and cheery!
AFM, I'm not done yet, but here is what I have so far (these are the old curtains, I haven't taken them down yet)
@babygagnon2018 have you tried looking on Etsy?
@cseley321 love the bedding!
@jbosch30 your wall reminds me of a Lilly print and i love it!! How long did that take to do?
Some more progress, our crib is finally put together. A few more pics from today’s work:
One of 4 animal prints which will go above dresser
@nimmle those polka dots!! Looks so great!
