@kissableviv It was really easy to put together. If you're planning to use a crib skirt on it, they don't sit totally flat because the supports for the mattress are at an angle. It's not enough to bother us, but I know it has been a complaint other people had.
@SmashJam@hillbillywife Thanks! colors and artwork were all decided/purchased before even knowing what we were having. Some of it is just things we pulled from other parts of the house. Lol. It's a geek house.
@amdftw The cheese puffs were a bday gift from H! You can open the bag and take them out, they crinkle! He bought those (and the Mario Bros. "?" box) at a comic book shop we go to, but the brand is KidRobot https://www.kidrobot.com/collections/yummy-world
Does it have to be fancy or cute? @julianne0 we just use plastic laundry baskets. DD’s is from Walmart, and was like $3. It’s tall versus long and I love it because it fits in the corner easily and it has handles for easy transport. We’ve had lots of fabric ones and they don’t last very long.
@julianne0 I gave up on the hunt for a cute one, we have zero storage in our house, so everything has to be able to go flat at some point, mostly we're just going to use an old mesh pop up one from our old college days, takes up no room. For messier things we ended up getting a plastic collapsible one we found at Costco. Right now its all smooshed down and living under the crib.
These look great, ladies! @julianne0 for those of us with less handy husbands, I bought similar-looking shelves from Ikea (“Mosslanda” in the picture frame section)
@jbosch30@And846 also a Lilly fan! We bought a more pastel-colored rug that sadly doesn’t really go with Pottery Barn’s Lilly nursery prints. I’m hoping to find a Lilly pattern at a local fabric store this weekend that works and make curtains with it. Absolutely love that wall, @jbosch30!
I have one that hangs over the door and TBH I love it so far! I have stuffed in there all the things I want to start washing when my mom comes (lol). I needed to maximize the space as much as possible.
@hillbillywife@noideawhatshesdoing I was hoping to find a cute fabric one like my DDs- the ones that sort of collapse. Babies r us has them online but they’re no longer selling/shipping their products! I like wicker ones too but I’m also cheap so I haven’t found a decently priced one

Re: hampers. We use a wicker basket for DD that I just had laying around and are doing the same for this LO. However, Hobby Lobby has a decent selection of baskets and hampers (cloth, wood, wicker, etc.) and they are always either 50% off or you can find their 40% off 1 item coupon online and use in store.
@talesofasocialintrovert@hillbillywife luckily I have a VERY nice cousin who is an interior designer. She offered to supply everything AND decorate so I gladly signed up! Whooooo knows what it would have looked like if I decorated.
@hillbillywife yeah, it's pretty crazy that she offered that. We bought the furniture, but all of the decorations were supplied by her. I told her a color scheme and a general idea of what i wanted the room to look like and she ran with it.
She wanted to give that as a gift to us and her shower gift. She absolutely outdid herself.
@noideawhatshesdoing I think your nursery is my favorite so far! Love the colors and that it isn't too baby-ish. That's what I had originally gone for with our nursery for the first two kids. I really like the rug too!
Today was our baby shower and my big present at the end was DH revealing the nursery to me! He wanted to surprise me with everything and I am so stunned and amazed and impressed. Who knew DH had such a flair for design!
@flockofmoosen3 aww. Thank you so much! I don't do well with baby-ish things. So we went with things we liked because we're going to be in there a lot!
Eta: the rug is from Ikea. We have it in red too, its downstairs in our media room.
So I mentioned before I am not going with a full nursery concept because my office desk will be there too. And my mom is staying in the room for the month of July.
However, the colors are blue, grey and white, and the theme is partly whales, partly...music. the wall where the crib will be had decals of whales. For the wall over the changing table, I'm having my friend design 3 panels with song quotes. I'll have them printed on foam so they are lightweight!
One is a verse from a David Bowie's song (we're big Labyrinth fans, so it's Magic Dance); one is a verse from The Beatles' Across the Universe.
I was struggling to pick a third one, until I decided to go on Sound cloud which is where DH uploaded some songs he wrote and recorded some years ago...so the third quote is actually his, and I hope he flips out when he sees it! It says -Dad- at the bottom ❤️
@kissableviv that sounds really cute and that’s so sweet that your surprising your husband with his song lyrics in the room! We love the labyrinth too! Which lyric did you pick? “You remind me of the babe...what babe?...” lol
My grandma is coming into town tomorrow so tonight we made a big push to get the nursery in working order. Finally finished my shelf project of painting one of our old shelves white and decorating the back with contact paper. Pics in spoiler.
So we finally got the missing hardware to finish putting the crib together, and there’s this huge hideous sticker on the outside of the top bar, and a nasty scratch on one of the side bars. It’s not a very attractive crib to begin with anyway, but it was free and we don’t have $200 to drop on a new crib right now. So I put these crib wrap things on to hide the scratch and sticker, but apparently they only sell them in 3 panels? Because most cribs have a high back I guess? Idk, I think it looks dumb with the back one missing. Not feeling very excited about this nursery, compared to my sons when I was pregnant with him.

@And846 those sound adorable! I wouldn’t think to look at Home Depot
@kissableviv where did you find it?!

We also just got a storage tote thing for DD1 from Target - https://www.target.com/p/fabric-floor-bin-round-gray-pillowfort-153/-/A-17473506
I'm thinking about getting another like the Target one for DD2.
Nursery is done
I hope the pictures aren't too big!
ETA: Sorry some are sideways, I'm not sure how to fix that.
