Baby Brain!

Re: Baby Brain!

I realized that Monday BF didn’t get posted late Monday evening, so I don’t think anyone saw it until Tuesday.  Then, my coverage for the Wednesday ticker change posted Wednesday on Tuesday.

So, obviously, Tuesday must be Friday this week...

Also, I think I declined a meeting my boss rescheduled because I thought he rescheduled it for yesterday, but I thought yesterday was Monday.

    And now I am confused.

So I thought I refilled my Diclegis (99% sure) last weekend, but apparently I didn't. What? I'm still convinced I did and there's an error...because I just tried to refill via touchtone on the phone and I'm stuck in this moment of silence after entering my Rx #.

edit: I think I got it to work! Tried calling a second time, no answer. 3rd time was the charm.

Really appreciate this thread! I was running late for my flight a few days ago and couldn’t find my phone. I was frantically looking for it everywhere. Even checked the fridge just in case. Of course it was in my purse the whole time.

ETA: forgot to say what I lost. Thanks baby brain!
  • So glad this thread was converted! I feel like I've been losing my mind lately.

I can totally relate to those with mush mouth and forgetting voabulary I use all the time. I've been saying some weird things... like telling DH last night that his hole had a shirt in it. Oops. And going to playfully sing "It wasn't me" by Shaggy but then somehow mashing it into "Mah na mah na" by The Muppets? We had a good laugh at that afterwards haha

Also, in the middle of leaving a voicemail the other week I 100% blanked on my own cell phone number and awkwardly paused halfway until I frantically remembered it. I'm sad to hear it doesn't get better after baby! I don't think my coworkers have picked up on it yet.. or they're just being really nice to me.
  • @jellybelly114 I'm cracking up at a Shaggy/Muppets mashup!
  • I sorted out a load of laundry, carried it down and put it in the washer, and forgot to start the load... Too late tonight to get it going.
  • @knottieamusements Ugh, that's the worst. I can't tell you how many times I've started a load of laundry but forgot to shut the lid so it never actually starts..
  • @purplegoldfish2 I do that more often that I should admit
  • @purplegoldfish2 - That is the first place I look...  And I totally understand.  I try to remember to check the door before I shut it, because I have found my keys in the door the next morning on more than one occasion...
  • I don’t do that anymore though!  We hung a key hook by the front door and I am so good about putting my keys there. I rarely lose them anymore and if I do, then they are usually in a bag or purse or something like that. Before the hook, they were all over the place, in the door, in the fridge (& I wasn’t even pregnant for that one) upstairs... Now leaving the front door open when I leave the house for hours is another story. It’s a good thing we live in a good neighborhood.

Same! Jeff gets home a little after me in the evenings and teases me relentlessly every time I leave my keys in the door.
  • Our front door locks when you close it and my car is keyless entry (just have to have it on me). There is a reason my neighbors have my house key and I keep the back door key separate in my purse. The amount of times I have left the house without my keys is ridiculous.
  • Last night I was telling my husband a story and in the middle of it I totally forgot why I had started telling it. He already accuses me of being a terrible storyteller, and now it's even worse
    This is literally my life.
  • @acciocoffee that is freaking hilarious
  • @acciocoffee I think I've done the same thing. Can't remember whether it was them asking me when I was due, or what I do, but I answered the opposite of what they asked.
  • @jynjer91 your post just made my day

Side note, Sprite now sounds SO GOOD to me. Feck!
  • @jynjer91 haha That literally made me lol!!!
  • Our buddy is at my house mounting my tv and putting up the shelves he built for us. I got up from my nap, sat on the couch with DH and was watching our buddy work. It took me 5 minutes to realize he had mounted our TV even though I was staring at it...

I bought toothpaste at the store today only to have my order from Amazon come with two tubes of it! Totally forgot I ordered it two days ago!  :#
ETA: I also forgot to get dry shampoo. Guess I'll be washing my hair tomorrow!

Nooooo!!!! I forgot to get dry shampoo too!  :'(
  • @knottieamusements stop signs seem to be my biggest problem right now

I don't know if the person behind me was just impatient or I zoned out super hard...but I definitely got honked at for not moving my ass when the light turned green yesterday. When I snapped out of my zone, I genuinely didn't know how long I had been sitting there. Still don't!

I was in lala land and drove through a stop sign.  Same stop sign I have stopped at thousands of times. Luckily, cop was understanding and may have felt sorry for me. Or maybe didn't want to give me ticket on Mother's day.
Snap out of it pregnancy brain.
  • I was just interviewing a candidate for the dental assistant position at my office. I was mid-sentence and lost my train of thought! The poor girl was so painfully shy and nervous, I don't think she even noticed.

  • Apparently, Baby Brain has been going on for a good deal longer than I recognized...

I’m the Treasurer for a local social organization.  I was about a month behind on putting together the books, which meant I was paying extra special close attention to dates.  I discovered that I had apparently misdated several of the things for a night when we don’t even have an event!

I’m shocked the numbers all balanced out.  It could easily have taken twice as long as it did given how frazzled I am and how much has gone on for the organization since I last did the books.
  • I'm trying to get back into journaling regularly and as I was flipping through the last couple of weeks worth of pages realized I dated the entire first week of May as March. I guess 3 and 5 are easy to get mixed up? Felt like a total idiot. Glad all your numbers balanced out in the end @knottieamusements

We were getting ready to run errands as a family yesterday.  Me, DD, and SD piled into the car while DH ran back into the house for something.  It was warm so I took the keys out of my purse and started the car to put the AC on.  We made it about a mile before DH realized that I put the heat on instead of the AC.  whoops!
  • I took my car into the shop this morning.  And had to borrow a pair of pliers to take apart my key ring because I forgot my spare key.  Whoops!
