  • @dragonette505 yay!! Congrats!!! I’ve been waiting for you to post! Fx for a great rising beta Wednesday!!
  • @dragonette505 Congrats! That is great!
  • So I went in for another beta today.  Hcg is down to 15.  I have to go in again on Wednesday to make sure it drops to negative.  The doctor then said I can do my next transfer of my last two embryos in June.  I said no I just want to transfer one.  He then said we can transfer one but I think they are frozen together, which means they have to be thawed together.  :(. I am praying they got me confused with another patient.  I never said I wanted to put in two at a time.  I have always said one at a time.  Nobody ever mentioned that they would be freezing two together.  Does this sound right?  Is it typical for clinics to freeze more than one embryo together without letting the patient know?

@laurengon82 I’ve heard about this but I think they should ask before they freeze them like that! It’s like forcing your hand!
  • @dragonette505 that is so unfair.  This next cycle is going to be so much more stressful.  :(
  • mcgeevamcgeeva member
I’m sorry @laurengon82 i didn’t even know they froze embryos together?! But if it’s you only option then I guess using both is better than losing them :/

    Married: 5/09 ~ TTC Since: 10/10 ~ PCOS ~ Progesterone from 10/10 - 2/11 ~ HSG on 3/18 - Clear ~ Started Metformin 1000mg & Clomid 50mg 2/11 ~ Metformin upped to 1500mg 4/6 ~ 6/7 Now going to SG and put on Clomid, Ovidrel, Gonal F, Prometrium, Estrace ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP!!!!!! March 6th our little man was born.

6/17/13 - Ovidrel, Follistim, Prometrium ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP! March 17th our St. Pattys day baby arrived

    10/29/17 - Started process for IVF, got pregnant & miscarried a 2nd time since summer. 2/22 started stims - Menopur, Gonal F, Cetrotide - retrieval 3/6 - , PIO, estrace 3xday - FET 4/18 = Beta 1: 616; Beta 2: 1342 = BFP

  • @laurengon82 It sux... it makes me wonder how mine are frozen... i feel like it must be one at a time because they said they would only thaw the number i was transferring. And I had to sign off that if they thawed the two and one didn’t make it, they could thaw another one at a time till they got me two recovered and ready to transfer. It’s like no matter how much experience we have, this process always throws another curveball
  • @laurengon82 Ugh, that's just not right! I was always under the assumption they they all had their own little tubes that they each were put into separately. Hopefully, your doctor was wrong / confused.

@laurengon82. I hope they made a mistake!  My office only does them individually and then like @dragonette505 said they unfreeze them one at a time if transferring more than one. However, I watch the Gathered Nest on YouTube and they did an embryo adoption and her two were frozen in the same tube.  That would be strange though if you have only transferred one at a time in the past why they would freeze two together.
  • mcgeevamcgeeva member
Ugh @laurengon82 that makes things so much tougher. I think it would be different if you had poor quality embryos etc but if not yes twins could def happen which lord only knows is a lot.

  • @mcgeeva they were both good.  One 4AA and the other 4AB I believe.  Doesn’t make any sense to freeze them together.  :(
  • mcgeevamcgeeva member
@laurengon82 not at all. Do you know the sex of the embryo? Only asking if you had to chose or will you just let the doctor pick the best from the thaw and go form there? Hopefully you won’t have to worry about anything after the next cycle. I’ll be praying for you dude.

Okay posting the sheet again since we all chat a ton :)

@funkykey I'm so sorry this is happening. I'm sending you lots of ((hugs)) and I pray that you and YH would get through this sadness as quickly as possible. Treat yourself well today and have as much as you want of your favorite treats. <3<3<3
  • @dragonette505 - CONGRATULATIONS!!! GREAT NEWS!!! I mean, I'd be nervous too, but this is a great start. Keeping FX Wednesday will be good too.

@laurengon82 - I've never heard of freezing together. My clinic is all about the one-transfer-at-a-time. I can't even imagine my clinic freezing two together.

Keeping FX for your June transfer, though. Best of luck to you!

@laurengon82. I just thought of this, might be worth asking...is it possible for your lab to unfreeze both and then refreeze one?  My embryos got thawed and rebiopsied and then refrozen. So for my transfer this was the second time my embryo was thawed.  Her quality was lower than the ones you have and she survived just fine.

@laurengon82 I was just going to say the same thing as J1006. Strong embryos *should* be able to withstand a thaw and refreeze at a good lab. I'd thaw both next transfer and refreeze one. Hopefully this is all moot because the RE confused you with someone else!
