@zombiehoohaa ooh, that gif is totally me reacting to a family member. They’ve got the whole world fooled. Makes me upset.
@kissableviv I’ve never bought a new or newer car but that sounds stressful to have to negotiate.
@flockofmoosen3 ick! My DD is grouchy when she wakes up. Throw in 5:45 and that sounds like a recipe for no good. Hopefully he stays chipper all day!
My random for the day: my mom is coming to visit in may and told me yesterday that she wanted to throw me a baby shower while she’s visiting. I was pretty adamant before that I didn’t want a shower but my mom has lived far away for as long as I’ve been an adult so it’ll be nice to do something special with her.
@kissableviv negotiate if you can! I’ve purchased two new cars and had to really put my foot down on both. If it’s interest rate tell them your credit union or bank offers a better one. Most dealers will stall on the good deals. I literally spent almost 2-3 hrs making them work for me lol on our rav4 i traded in my two year old Kia, got zero interest for 5/6 years (forgot which one) and negotiated get gap insurance for free. Don’t let them make you a “deal”. You can hold the power if you have the patience.
cue in the possible man cold! Now that DS and i are sick DH say he things he’s getting sick too. He feels it in his throat. Of course he hasn’t taken medicine. We’ll see.
@zande2016 - I'm about 98% sure you've already thought of this, but wanted to mention just in case. If your insurance contribution is typically removed from your paycheck (which you won't be getting while on leave), then your company will likely pay the full amount while you're out and ask you to "catch up" when back. That's what happened to me. So if you don't go back, it may be more than just their normal share that they ask for? You can probably ask about that now without revealing your hand by saying that someone told you it happened to them and you want to be prepared for how your take home pay may be impacted once you're back at work!
@MichelleAG05 good point! I plan to discuss with them how it’s handled beforehand, I was thinking they might use my last paycheck before leave to take out the two months I’ll be out, but you’re right, they might plan to take it when I return. They only pay for $325 a month towards my insurance, so I guess at worst I’d owe them $650.
Thanks everyone! We know there's room for negotiation and are ready to do it but it seems like at the end of the day we may still be a bit out of budget. DH of course is totally ok with putting more money down to get me what I want but I'm being more cautious. We both have excellent credit so we know we can probably get a really good interest rate. I just want to be smart and look at other options and it pisses me off to spend so much more for one damn feature. Also I think his car payment is already high so I want this one to be lower but he doesn't think so. His dad wants to help but I really want to stop relying on that even though I know he wants to do it because it make him happy but we are grown adults and need to figure it out on our own! Thanks for letting me rant!
I feel a lot better but of course that one cough for woke me up at 4 and I was up for an hour, ended up sleeping on the couch for the rest of the night... TGIF!
Ugh never again will i trust Att in store sales person. Early in March we went in to get DH a phone but ended up leaving with two phones and signing up for tv (that’s how we got the second phone free). Well they told us that if we sign up for autopay we would get a discount on our bill but could sign up at anytime and get the discount. Well we wanted to wait to see when the bill would come to make sure we could commit to an autopay. They also apparently failed to tell us that there is an extra charge for some sport channels with that package. But we can downgrade the package to avoid that fee because we would lose the promotional rate and pay more for few channels. So turns out the autopay stuff was a lie. Now i have to call the store and complain about the bad information and not disclosing the additional fee. Gah!!
Im at my glucose test right now. 45 more minutes of waiting till they can draw blood. The drink was bigger than I remembered and I forgot that you have to chug it in 5 minutrs. So gross.
@zande2016 not to beat a dead horse - another way they might do it is to send you a bill from a 3rd party for your portion not coming out of a paycheck - that's how my company does it (though we never actually got that bill with DD). Personally I would always go back and give 2 weeks for transition and cleanup - but i'm a control freak like that. I'm on the fence about job hunting during maternity leave...I'm paid a fair amount below market standard and our corporate policies/HR suck balls but love my boss and the flexibility I have...
There are about 3 garter snakes that live under my front porch, and one of them has finally emerged! It's not even that warm out yet but maybe he had cabin fever. Trying and failing to post a picture of it.
Also, holy crap the Bump app is awful!!! I usually Bump from my desktop at work or from my laptop. Today during the glucose test wait I was doing some Bumping from my phone and it was such a pain!
@hillbillywife lol...it totally pertains to my step sister AND a coworker....I just...ugh
Random of the day: instead of a glucose test, since I've have gastric sleeve surgery, I get to check my blood sugar 4 times a day for the next 2 weeks. I've also been classified as high risk now because they cannot seem to get my thyroid levels under control. I dont have a thyroid (total thyroidectomy in 2003 due to papillary thyroid cancer II). I take my thyroid at the same time, every morning, without other meds, on an empty stomach. I have to go back in 3 weeks to see the high risk ob and will have an appointment every 2-3 weeks after that up until birth. Fx my levels get controlled. I get to also go back to the dentist today to have my permanent crown put on...oh the joys!!!
@runsomewhere, hope the test goes well! @zombiehoohaa, I hope your levels get controlled and the other stuff is ok. That *is* a lot to deal with on top of being preggo!
@zombiehoohaa that man cold meme is my fave. Also hoping they can get everything under control for you eventually.
High five to all the negotiators out there when it comes to cars! I'm not sure if be able to do it and you ladies sound like total badasses.
I have been MIA for a few days due to travel to Indiana, and I am sleeping in the same bed as DS and getting him to sleep after such a screwed up schedule has been exhausting! I usually sing myself right to sleep. I'm not really sure how I'm functioning.
Gross and hilarious story: I took my prenatal quickly with a bottle of water I left open in the car overnight. Later today I dumped that water to recycle to bottle and it had a DEAD MOUSE un the botrom, which i didnt ecen notice til it thumped back to the bottom when I turn 3d the bottle upright. I had to call the hospital and ask what would happen if the mouse was there this morning and I didn't notice, which made them laugh. Luckily they Saud it was dine since it wasn't rancid but...ew.
Man cold in full force. He decided to skipping brushing DSs teeth because he feels like crap. WTH man i looked like i was dying yesterday and i still did it all! He tried to play it off too like if i wouldn’t notice. I have no patience for the man cold symptoms. Then he asks me to make him hit chocolate. Haha no. All i got to say is i better get to sleep in this weekend since it’s my turn.
Anyone want some bump bucks? I have two promo codes, each worth $50 off $125 purchase for Destination Maternity. Expires tomorrow. I can’t spend the money right now, just put way too much baby crap on the credit card. First person to inbox me can have it
@SmashJam ugh I may have just dry heaved a little. That’s so nasty! I told my H, I was like “ewwww listen to this story!!” And he totally burst my bubble and doesn’t believe me. Mr. Know-it-all.
Bedtime these days is making me feel like a terrible mom. My kids were up super late tonight because we had family over for my DD’s birthday. DS shut DD’s fingers in his bedroom door and I freaked out about that because he wasn’t paying attention. DD hates sleeping these days so I had to wrestle her into pjs and wrestle her into her bed and leave her crying for a minute so she can actually decide what she wants. I just get so exasperated and stressed and just end up feeling ashamed of MY behavior. Why are kids/parenting so hard??

I feel ya! DD is 4 and this has been rough. Bedtime is slowly getting better . But my God she flat out doesn’t listen to me. I feel like I’m always after her about something. We spank at count of three for not listening when asked to do something- yeah she laughs at me and says your funny mommy. I was so frustrated with myself the other night because I resorted to I’ll have daddy come up here for a spanking if you don’t stop - stop being she runs away as I’m trying to either dress or undress her around bedtime
@smashjam where is the green face when you need it?! That’s so gross!
+1 wrestling DS to change diapers and clothes. I seriously have no energy for that right now. Also since we want to start potty training soon I’ve been teaching him how to undress and take off his diaper for baths. Well it’s backfiti because now he randomly takes his diaper off and runs around naked in the middle of the day. It makes me nervous he’ll just pee and poo and i won’t be prepared.
Seriously +1 to the toddler diaper change struggle. I actually cannot wait to change newborn diapers again, it’ll be such a treat compared to changing a screaming wiggling toddler with poop flying everywhere. It’s like a freaking Olympic sport and by the end I’m always out of breath and sweating. He’s been like this with diaper changes since well before us turned one too. His brother better be more mellow with diaper changes.
@SmashJam I also want to know how the heck did it get in there??
Victory is mine, only woke up once to cough and went back to sleep. Still didn't sleep as much as I wanted, but I think I'm on the mend! Only took 10 days...
Also...im stuck in buffalo halfway home to vt from indiana. There is an ice storm here bit it was 75 when I left indiana so I'm not dressed well. I lost my socks so I only have flip flops to wear. I'm hungry. And there is supposed to be up to 1/2 an inch of ice by tomorrow early afternoon. At least I didn't take my studded tires off. DID I MENTION IN SO HUNGRY.
@smashjam that mouse...I can’t....that is beyond gross. and seriously how the heck did it squeeze itself in there?! I hope you get to go home soon, being stranded in Buffalo without socks in an ice storm sounds like no fun.
We're off to Catalina for the day! Getting a hike in then a nice big lunch and some relaxation on the beach before heading back.
We ended up getting a good deal for the car we want by simply ordering the car, which means buying at staright up msrp and no BS. Had an awful experience at the dealership that actually had the exact model we wanted, he was so rude and slimy, just couldn't deal with him. He was on his cigarette break when we got there and just reaked of smoke and even though thing started as the usually do in negotiations he ended up with this heated spiel saying he could not understand why we would walk away just because of a grand when we could drive the car off that night. I explained to him, beat the staright up MSRP of the other dealership or I'm walking away. I'm in no rush of having a second car and can easily wait 60 days to have it. Ugh. Such a huge difference between the two dealerships and I feel much better going with our original guy.
So now we get to save for a couple more months and we won't have a payment until July. Plus we decided to finance 6 years instead of 5 so we can adjust to baby expenses with a lower car payment, and can always pay more per month if we feel like we have extra cash to spare. Thanks everyone for the advice!
Glad you got the car you wanted and walked away from that slimeball @kissableviv. Nothing worse than a slimy car salesman.
Im so frustrated with my search for a weekly babysitter. I totally understand that it’s going to be hard to find someone who is willing to only work one day a week, or Happens to have that day I need open. But people seriously just don’t read the job description and I’m sick of having my time wasted. I very clearly wrote please only contact me if you have Thursday’s open, and can commit to it permanently. Literally everyone whose contacted me either doesn’t have that day open, wants other days in addition to that day, or is home for college for the summer and wouldn’t be around in the fall. One girl messaged me this whole long thing about her experience and ended it with saying she’s available for weekend jobs. I told her I am only looking for Thursday’s and she said oh I know, just wanted you to know I’m available for weekends just in case. It turns out this girl works at my son’s current daycare during the week. The one I’m trying to get away from.

Pic of mouse in spoiler! Also no idea how it got in there, it wasntg exceptionally small.
And gross about the mouse--can't wait to show DH the picture
