Sorry for the megarandom but wtf is wrong with moms posting close-ups of their kids' braces, palate expanders, and actual teeth on Facebook? This one gal posted maybe 10 things in the past week with all the updates and it's just a bit gross -plus I feel bad for the poor girl! Is it just me or is it odd??
@kissableviv that’s just odd. Is the girl going through any medical issues that may lead to the mom wanting to share the progress? If it’s just braces on a normal kid then it’s kinda weird.
well I think we are going to take the potty training leap on memorial weekend to try the 3 day training. It’s the only time we have without asking for time off. I’ll be sure to schedule our carpet cleaning after that
Is anyone else’s app not letting them “love it”?? I get a “permission error” every time I try. I tried opening the bump in my phones browser but the love it button isn’t even there! I’m super frustrated with the bump right now.

@wildtot the notifications button was broken a lot today - i'd try to click it for the pop up to say which thread the mention was on and it'd send me all the way to my profile...so annoying
ugh rough night... just demolished another half artichoke and ice cream sandwich with a virgin tequila sunrise (not because i miss drinking, we bought the icky cheap OJ and I saw grenadine in the fridge and though HEY WHY NOT!? lol) and am binging New Girl until bed...only 2 more daycare drop offs until DH gets home...
Anyone else up late tonight? My friend’s water broke tonight so I came to her house to be with her other kids. I should probably try to get some sleep, but her call woke me up and now I’m excited, and also in a strange place and their hampster is up and making tons of noise.
@kbernal2021 I'm obsessed with those flowers! You'll have to post a picture of the nursery when you have them hung.
PS - Do we have a nursery thread? I searched but I didn't see one...my search option on TB doesn't always (or never) yields accurate results, hence why I am asking you ladies.
@wildtot, totally up for a monthly symptoms thread.
@gingerbride26, I hear you on the eating! Last night DH bought me Tate’s chocolate chip cookies, and I thought, “might as well have one now before my GD test next week.” I ate five!!! ☹️

@sm05-2@gingerbride26 My DS's birthday was last weekend and I'm pretty sure I had like 5 cupcakes throughout the course of the weekend. Up 2.5lbs this week. Oops.
Speaking of eating, my DH wanted to go to Souplantation of all places last night...he loves soup. I finished the dinner with ice cream, because why not! Went to bed early but was up at 2-ish for 40 minutes coughing. And then up at 6:15. Fun times...
@foxbaby2016 I don’t think we do have a nursery thread but that sounds like a great idea! Love to see people’s nursery ideas! I just ordered our crib and glider and we’re painting at the end of this month so I’m getting pretty excited
After I leave work for the weekend today I will have 9 weeks of work left for the year! Soooooooo excited and the countdown is making time feel like it's passing faster.
Left work early because i feel like crap. Stopped by the pharmacy for some meds for me and the kiddo and a batch of muffins. I am now medicated and muffin eating on the couch. Technically i should still be working. @runsomewhere woo! I got 11 work weeks to go! Edited due typing under the influence of muffins
@zombiehoohaa my husband and I just finished watching that show on Netflix last night. My husband was just complaining to me about how sad he is that it’s over.
Feel better @wildtot! I hope your sickness doesn’t stick around too long.
You guys just made me go to my calendar to check how many weeks I have left...13 weeks of work if I make it to my due date, and 9 weeks until I hopefully get to start working from home full time! I am hoping to find a new Job during maternity leave so I have my fingers crossed that 9 weeks from now I’ll walk out of there for the last time. A girl can dream...
So apparently there is an annual conference for doulas, and it happens to be in July, like the week after my due date. So far 3 doulas I’ve contacted have told me there’s a possibility they’d be away for my birth and I’d use their back up in that case. Dammit! I don’t want to hire someone knowing they might be away.
@zande2016 Have you discussed if you'd be "allowed" to go beyond your due date due to the GD diagnosis? I know premature placental ageing can become a concern so maybe it's possible some of those midwives would actually be in town? Induction is never a fun thing to consider but it sounds like it might have an impact on your current planning.
@TalesOfASocialIntrovert the MFM suggested inducing at 40 weeks (just as a general practice), but the midwife is comfortable letting me go past 40 weeks if everything looks good. Pretty sure there will be twice weekly NSTs and BPPs involved. So far baby is measuring right at 50% and perfectly proportioned so if that doesn’t change then size won’t be an issue...but yeah they’d have to keep an eye on the placenta and everything else. I would like to avoid induction as long as it’s safe. I think there’s a good chance baby will be here by or around 40 weeks one way or the other, but i’d Be disappointed if I became attached to a doula and then couldn’t use her.
@zande2016, you may already know this but some companies have rules or policies about taking leave/FMLA without returning afterwards. I’ve heard of women having to pay back the employer portion of the health insurance from their leave period, for example. Or having to return for a certain number of days in order to not have to pay back any paid maternity leave the company provided. It may not impact you, but you may want to research just to be safe.
ETA: I only mention because I’ve read of people being blindsided by this after they’ve already turned in their notice.
@tarheelgirl8 thanks for the heads up! I’ve thought about that, I don’t qualify for FMLA but my state has paid family leave. from my research I do not believe I’d have to pay anything back if I don’t return (money is paid by the state, not my employer) but I’ve thought about the likelihood of losing accrued vacation time/pay if I don’t return. Also my employer contributes less than half to my insurance, and I am not sure if they’ll contribute anything during my leave. If they do, I could see them trying to get that money back if I didn’t return. I think the more likely scenario is I will return, then give notice very shortly after if I manage to find a new job. I just can’t imagine going back to my hour+ each way commute with a toddler and newborn at home.
@zande2016 check with HR for your company. Most companies have a separate hr dept that can answer those questions without fear of getting back to your management. The company i work for gives 14 weeks for natural birth and 16 for c section. I do not have health insurance through my company since we are covered under my husband's employer so I checked with HR about any penalties I would incur for not returning. Basically I was told I am entitled to the benefits and cannot be punished or penalized for not returning, so i wasnt ahead and relayed that to my boss as well as the director and VP and they all 3 clarified with HR that I would not be punished or have to return after my leave is over so I will get paid through Oct with no plans on returning after that date.
I'm so annoyed! We went to run some numbers on the new car (a VW) and we would need to pay $5000 for ONE safety feature DH is obsessed with. Also wtf to the dealership coming up with like $4000 more than MSRP for no apparent reason. I think I'm going back to Honda tomorrow to check out the Pilot since I'm not in love with the CR-V. And here I was thinking we had it figured out. He keeps saying that we can get the lower trim but I'm sure he'll keep bringing up the fact we don't have that feature over and over again.
@kbernal2021 definitely no HR department for me. I work at a small law firm. We’ve got 7 full time employees (including the owner) and a few part timers/interns. I assume they would probably keep paying their share towards my health insurance during leave, and I could see them asking for that back if I don’t return, but I know for a fact there’s no written policy on it so I don’t really think they’d have legal recourse if I said no I’m not returning that money. My leave will all be through the state, I pay towards family leave benefits mandated by the state with a small payroll deduction and when I go out, the state will be paying me. So in my mind that’s money I’ve paid towards and will be entitled to regardless of whether I go back to work.
@kissableviv maybe it’s time to try negotiating. If they’re quoting you above MSRP could you try getting a better price at another dealer, or tell the current dealer you’re going to walk because of the price? I’ve watched my dad in action negotiating on cars. He will literally get up and walk out of the dealer because he’s not getting the deal he wanted, and the salesman will come running out into the parking lot a few mins later and stop him and say they can come down. If you’re willing to walk away, then you have the power.
DS woke up at 5:45a this morning for no reason. He's angry when he wakes up! He's better now but ugh, so early...
I feel bad for DH. He says he's definitely nesting and thinking of all the stuff he wants to get done around here and at work before baby comes is stressing him out. It doesn't help that much of his home tasks have to do with outside and it's been horrible weather here. I reminded him that at this point if we do nothing else the baby will have everything she needs. But last night he asked me for a date night so we're going to do that tonight after the kids go to bed. Ordering greek food and playing board games.

On another note what do you ladies think of monthly symptoms threads? I haven’t seen a weekly one recently.
@wildtot I'm all for a monthly symptom thread.

@runsomewhere sweet!!! I've got 12 weeks until I go on leave and I'm literally counting them down.

Has anyone been reading the FWP thread in August? It's kind of funny.
