I’m obsessed with sushi and did a lot of research on this when I was pregnant with DS. Go to a place your trust and where it doesn’t sit out. Don’t eat too much of anything high in mercury. Other than that, you’re fine. Fish is flash frozen before transporting and that makes it safe to eat, even raw and even pregnant.
I go by the rules that if they eat it in other first world countries when pregnant, I am not gonna stress. In Japan they eat sushi, in France they eat Brie. I am unconcerned. I just make sure to go to nice places.
I went to a sushi place and got my favorite roll and subbed krab for the raw tuna. They had several rolls with no raw fish, all delicious! Also regarding the poop discussion, yesterday I had a fruit and kale smoothie with lots of ginger. Three times today! That's usually one week for me!
And I had a dream about constructing a massive sub sandwich, aka grinder, and so that's what I must have for dinner. I just throw the deli meat on the stove for 30 seconds and then let it cool.
Last day of vacation today and our 2 year old had a complete meltdown during lunch... I think he’s ready to go back to normalcy. We may have pushed him a bit this week doing a lot, but it was so worth it. Back to reality tomorrow unfortunately.
My DH actually took me to the sushi place tonight for supper! Had tempura and sushi and it was soooo good!! And now I'm sooo full!! DH is rural Nebraska born and raised and had basically never heard of sushi before he met me. He does NOT like it! So it's a sign of true love when he takes me out for sushi!
Ughhhhh....maybe I’ll just go get a California roll with lots of wasabi and I’ll be happy. I know I’m that over crazy rule abiding person. It just took so freaking long and it was so hard to get pregnant not times I don’t want to risk anything.
Just told H I’m craving sushi and he practically yelled NO. I’m livid that he thinks he can tell me what to do when pregnant. He pulled this shit with DS too.
@mamabearcj Oh trust me, we did. I let him have it. No ones going to tell me what I can and can’t do. He tried to pull that “But it’s my baby” when I was pregnant with DS but he was smart enough not to this time.
I do extensive research any time he’s uncomfortable, so it’s not like I’m ignoring his concerns. And it’s not like I’m doing anything dangerous. This guy is fine with me having my 5oz of wine later in pregnancy but he’s upset about sushi, even tho most of what I eat is cooked. I don’t get it.

Edited because the app is being a whore.
Seriously though I really don’t know what I would do if DH and I disagreed about pregnancy food safety. I would be livid. Fortunately he tends to worry less than I do so it’s never come up. On the one hand he’s your partner and you want him to feel comfortable with your choices, but on the other, he absolutely needs to trust you to make safe choices for your body and your baby.
@krzyriver good for you momma!! At least you're looking up information and educating him that what you want isn't horrible to have and not just doing it and saying that's that. I give you credit for handling it well!
Dh side eyed me eating a corn dog. This is my second and he was like “letting it all go with this one huh?”
I know a bit more this time, enough to give him a spiel on listeria risk being low in a home cooked corn dog and nitrates being ok if only once a week.
Also I basically yelled “I’m so sick I’m not eating anything right now, so if I want a corn dog, I’m eating a fucking corn dog!”
I was sad to finally get good ramen with my sister and have to decline the sprouts and egg. Sigh. Couldn’t find a way around that one.
You can get nitrate free hot dogs! The brand Apple gate makes them they're not processed so you actually have to cook them through (unlike regular hot dogs) but they're delicious!! I get them all the time even when I'm not pregnant because we eat hot dogs so often in the summer

My 3yo DS is back in school after spring break. Yesssssssss
I was dreading break, but my kids were soooo good during it. They were happy to go back to school today & I was looking forward to the time alone.... but omg it’s been awful. The attitudes started this morning before we even left and they’ve been monsters since getting home.
Honestly @purplegoldfish2 he really wasn't bad at all but everyone's been sick and stuck inside. He finally only has a cough left. Now I'm the one that's super sick (thanks kid) so mama needs her space.
Tomorrow is DS's birthday, and although I'm taking the day off work, I'm regretting it because I'm so effing swamped this month. And then I feel guilty for regretting taking the day to spend with DS.
Multiply that feeling x2 because DD's birthday is at the end of the month and I just want to crawl into a hole and hide until May.
Add to that H was in a wedding this weekend for his best friend from back home (wedding was local) and of course I think I was probably the only sober person my age there, and I literally got to spend no time with H at it because he was either talking to people he knew or hanging out with his buddies smoking cigars so I spent like $300 on sitters for the weekend just to hang out with a bunch of drunk people. I really hate everything at the moment.
Wow there are a lot of threads to catch up on from being away last week! Back to work today after vacation... Mondays after a vacation are just the worst. But my next appt is tomorrow for my NT scan, so yay! Hoping for a good appt!
I finally gathered the energy to do some much needed deep cleaning today. It’s pretty pathetic how proud I am of that, but I’ve been riding the serious struggle bus the last couple months. I’m not sure if it was the 2 lattes I indulged in (shhh) or if second trimester is starting to be kind to me, but ah the lingering smell of pine sol is good for the soul today

But I'm finally getting my jimmy johns today.

I clogged the toilet at work today... and instead of being embarrassed all I felt was relief and pride.
