This is the only thread I even keep track of 90% of the time. I get bored talking about pregnancy. I guess that's my Flame Free Thursday Confession? Lol
The root canal place I interviewed with finally called me.... and offered me a clinical position. I'm actually intrigued, but I'm also pregnant and have trouble being on my feet. Plus I went back to school specifically for insurance and facility management. Pay wise it's the same, but it feels like a step down.
She says she feels like it's a better fit for me because I come from almost a decade in the beauty industry and I'm all about the clients and patient experience. But I'd be going from running my own office to assisting the dentist. I'm flattered she loved me enough to find me a spot in the practice, but I don't know if taking xrays and digging around in people's mouths would be the right fit for a pregnant lady...
@DunkinDecaf Probiotics. I also just bought a probiotic juice by Minute Maid I think? Milk of magnesia is my emergency back up. I take like 1/4th of the dose though.
So I've always been super against fake plants, but after years of trying to keep regular plants alive, i'm over it. I can't do it anymore, i'm buying the fake plants. I'm also very concerned that someone who can't keep plants alive is allowed to have pets and children.
@DunkinDecaf Prune juice 4 evaaaaa. I wasn't pooping and now I have a glass of this every day and its super regular and my GI system is so happy. Just call me Betty White.
Has anyone else had that second tri libido surge people talk about?! I felt guilty first tri that I wasn’t feeling in the mood (thanks nausea and 8pm bed time) but I feel like the pendulum has swung (maybe too far?) with a vengeance! Thank god for toys bc hubby is out of town all weekend!
@dunkindecaf lots of water (I try to get over 100 oz a day), chocolate milk, ice cream and Colace.
@rc-cola I have yet to experience it... but sure hope it comes soon. I think DH is getting jealous of the pillow that is always lodged behind my back or between my knees.
@jengibre_zorro I thought it would taste terrible, but no. I mean, its no chocolate milkshake, but I can easily have a glass. Its much more sugary than I thought it would be, too.
@jengibre_zorro I have never been able to keep a plant alive. I even kill those lucky bamboo that are supposed to be indestructible. I have 5 year old twins that are not just alive, but healthy and happy too. I’m convinced houseplants exist solely to erode our confidence in our abilities to handle even the most basic things.
@rc-cola Kind of. I had no drive at all for the last 2 months. Now it’s coming back, but I still don’t have enough energy for it - so it’s really pathetic and frustrating right now. I’m only 11 weeks, so I’m hoping by the time I hit second tri I have more energy.
Random NPR: My sister chose this light gray suit for my boys to wear in her wedding (with a matching light gray bow tie).
What color shoes do I get them? Would black look funny since the gray is so light?
@jengibre_zorro When I was a kid, I had to drink it for awhile. I mixed it with 7up. No idea if that would taste good as an adult, but it made prune juice bearable as a kid.
@purplegoldfish2 I would do black, I don't think it will look weird. That said, I'd probably ask her if the other guys in the wedding are in grey and doing either a grey/brown or grey/navy combo or something. Not that they have to match, but will look better if they're all coordinated in her photos.
@jengibre_zorro Personally, I feel like keeping my cats alive is 10x easier than a plant. They tell me when they're hungry and pee on the floor if their litter box isn't cleaned to their specifications (which is very specific)!
Kids are much louder than plants when their needs aren't being met, you'll be fine ;-) also i got a lot better at keeping plants alive after i had a kid. Not sure quite how that happened.
I was really afraid of pooping after Ziggy (i tore pretty badly so eek) and so i lived in prune juice for a while. My partner labeled it "warrior's drink" and thinking of Worf everytime made me feel better about it.
@purplegoldfish2 at 11 weeks I was mostly still too tired. Hopefully you’ll get that energy! And I agreed black shoes would work but check in on what’s others are wearing if they are matching .
I finished my lunch before noon and got a snack from the vending machine and I am still hungry. I feel like I am eating all the things but am still always hungry! Are you ladies eating anything that fills you up and keeps you satisfied these days?
I’ve had a pretty balanced diet and can’t figure out what gives. For example, today so far here’s what I’ve eaten:
B: rolled oats w/ vanilla almond milk, cinnamon, almond butter, and banana; with a cup of black tea
S: small latte from work
L: salad w/ romaine, feta cheese, shredded carrots, sunflower seeds, and basalmac vinaigrette; an apple; and trek mix from TJs; then I was still hungry so I grabbed a pack of cheez it’s feom the vending machine
I have a balance of carbs, protein, fruits, and veggies so what am I doing wrong? Why am I so hungry?
@DunkinDecaf I second @kiwi2628 prunes- either juice or just the bag of the dried fruit. I'm still not as regular as i was pre-pregnancy, but I'm at least going more often
@ladyofarlington It's hard to know without knowing what fills you up. I'd say do a little week by week experiment on if more carbs, fats, or proteins tend to keep you fuller longer. I have some food with my mid-morning coffee...almonds, pretzels, whatever I feel like. Also, maybe some additional chicken/protein (sorry can't remember if your veg or vegan) or avocado to your salad to fuel up?
@krzyriver in the end, you have to do something you enjoy. If you don't think you'll enjoy the more clinical side, then I wouldn't take it. Have you ever done that side before? It may surprise you if you haven't and you may enjoy it. I do agree though, being on my feet all day would suck.
I had a small surge the other week where I was super horny. Now it's back down to minimal. It doesn't help that DH is working 10-12 hour days and not having much time off. He's working all weekend again. And so he's also in a funk.
@chopchop25 & @rc-cola thanks! The other guys are in a darker gray but I’m not sure what color shoes (I assume black, but I’ll ask).
@ladyofarlington That honestly doesn’t look like much protein to me. Maybe have some eggs in the morning and/or add chicken to your salad at lunch? If you’re vegetarian having something with beans or quinoa would get you more protein at lunch.

I was going to say the same thing. Salads really never fill me up, but especially not when pregnant. If you want to stick with it I'd grab greenery with more substance like spinach and throw tuna or chicken on it.
@ladyofarlington it's also varied day by day, for me at least. Some days I'm a bottomless pit, and some days I don't eat much at all. But I'm def not eating as healthy as you...
I'm so happy for everyone that gets to join the 2nd tri gif party, but it sucks bringing up the end of the month. 3.5 more weeks until I get to join in the party.
@sammierose464 Not really. I jump in and help around the office, but I'm administration. I was a nail tech back in the salon, so I've done the whole hands on/direct contact with the client/dirty work type thing. I went back to school to sit behind a desk. Lol.
But I'm also kind of bored? I wonder if that would at least get my foot in the door at this specialty place? Or at least get me out of my current company for now and I can always apply for administrative positions later, either at the specialty location or possibly private practices?
I don't feel like it's a huge risk, because I know I want out of here. And no matter where I am, I know a huge chunk of time off is coming where I could reevaluate. I just have zero idea how hard it's going to be on my body through the rest of my pregnancy.
Also, I'm joining the 2nd tri party (in spirit, cause no gifs on work computer) even though I'm 13 weeks. One app says I'm in, one says I've got a week to go, and I think it's so silly that no one can seem to agree exactly when it starts. So I vote that I'm in!
@DunkinDecaf I tried eating kiwi and that seems to have helped...i didn’t poop for days and since I’ve been eating a kiwi a day I’ve pooped every day, one day even twice! It was magical. I’ve also been trying to eat more veggies but those don’t always sound as appetizing.
@ladyofarlington Try plain green yogurt with fruit or granola. I buy the protein granola for a little extra protein and eat that with the yogurt as my mid-morning snack. I eat about every two hours otherwise I’m starving!
@ladyofarlington do you find that you are more hungry when you have tea/coffee in the morning? I haven't eaten that healthy in a while... but pre MS I would do oatmeal or yogurt for bfast then a salad for lunch. If I had more than a small cup of tea or coffee I'd be STARVING like 30 min after lunch. Also, def agree if you add more protein in it should help tide you over, but don't forget your body is working hard! My lunch bag is overflowing with snacks these days so I can have something every couple hours.
Re: Randoms 4/5
What makes you guys poop? It’s been like a week and I need new things to try.

the liquid thing works the best, but it's so hard right now.
