@BusinessWife I meant to comment earlier but work has been busy. I feel like I'm a bad catholic too! I admittedly have been eating meat on fridays during Lent because I NEED protein (besides from eggs and there's only so much fish I can eat in one day) to prevent nausea still. I understand the guilt but choosing to nourish me and baby feels right to me. Sounds like your party went ok and not much pressure about the meat/lack there of. Hope you get to tell your other coworkers soon, and that you get lots of support!
Well, good news! When I came out of lunch, the two who didn't know were just talking in the lobby. So I called them over with my manager still here and I told them! They were both really happy, and the guy asked how far along I was, if I was 12 weeks, and I said I was 16 already, so that was cute that he kind of knew that was a thing. So relieved to just have the cat out of the bag, so I don't have to worry so much about trying to hide it with my clothes, or lower my voice if the topic comes up. Squee!!!
Also, our announcements came in yesterday, and I got a good start on addressing them, so those will go out to family very soon! Exciting!
@BusinessWife I've started telling pretty much everyone and anyone that I'm pregnant and I love wearing my tight shirts now and letting my blump be seen by the world. It's really nice to not feel compelled to wear a loose shirt and stand up straight and suck it in.
I’m still hiding it at work and will be for as long as I can, but I have told my boss and a handful of trusted work friends. It’s such a relief to have some people know! I love wearing tighter clothes on the weekends! I hate wearing baggy clothes at work. I’m hiding for a good reason (chance of a promotion soon) but still the hiding is getting very old. And, I would love to tell my direct reports, but I’m waiting on all of them for as long as I can. My boss wants me to get the promotion, but it’s not just her decision. There are other, less cool people involved. But, I will say, I don’t care if people find out at this point, I’m just not spreading the news. All of this is better than when no one knew.
One of the friends I had dinner with told me that a mutual acquaintance of ours didn’t find out she was having twins until the anatomy scan bc of the location of the second baby. And she had had 2 ultrasounds before that point. Cue the stress sweat. Yes, I realize how incredibly rare and unlikely that is. But still.
No lie @spottedginger I'm still worried about that too because of how much bigger my belly is compared to my first pregnancy. Even though I also have had two ultrasounds so far lol.
@spottedginger Omg I had that twins thought just the other day! The fact that I had two early USs is what made me feel reassured it’s just the one. When is your AS?

I've had 4 ultrasounds, heard the heartbeat and had the Panorama NIPT done. That pretty much guarantees that there's just the one , right? But I seriously just last night had a dream that I went into labor early, not scary early just like 4 weeks early, unexpectedly and it turned out to be because I was pregnant with twins and we didn't know!
@spottedginger I legit had a chat with some coworkers about this today. About how I’m showing already and “maybe it’s twins!” ::insert eye roll for very original comment:: I reply I’ve had two ultrasounds showing only one baby and their reply was “what if one is hiding?” I’ve been thinking about that scenario waaaay too much today.
I’ve definitely had the twins thought too and had 4 ultrasounds already. Anatomy scan is Monday. There is a 99.9999% chance it’s a boy and there is just one, but anything can happen...
Our park district Easter egg hunt was this morning. Also, weather was awful. I checked event web page right before we left, and it didn't have any updates.
We arrived, it was obviously canceled, but no notice, nothing, and we were all bundled up and at a park, so we played. I'm going to be cold for hours-40 and wet with 40 MPH winds is icky.
Once we get home, I see there's a tiny notice that it's postponed until next week-but it's on the main park district page....not the even page. If you Google the event, you obviously don't end up at the main park district page. Sigh. Could have stayed home and warm.

@pourmeamocktail that stinks! In a good note, since it was postponed there is a chance it will be on a warmer more sunny day.
Completely agreed, but I'm still sad they didn't do a good job communicating. Fingers crossed next weekend is more weather friendly.

There is so much snow it will never be spring. DH won't build me a chicken coop until the ground thaws
I was wondering if you had gotten your chickens yet. I want new chicks so bad and my timeline is flooded with adds from local breeders and feed stores and it's driving me crazy!!! Our summers get insanely hot though and I'm planning to re-home my flock with a friend because I'm not confident I'll be able to take care of them properly when the heat hits since I struggled so badly being pregnant in the heat last time. So yeah, no new chicks this year for me But a baby is better than chickens, so I'm not upset. There's always next year for more chickens. How many are you planning on getting? I don't remember, did you say if you've had them before?
I just have to brag about how cute DH is. I wanted to take a clever picture to send family to tell them that baby is a boy. I’m wearing a baseball theme T-shirt today so I said, without thinking it through much, “I could just get a little baseball mitt and hold it in front of my belly” and DH says “Yeah but that doesn’t mean it’s a boy. Little girls play baseball too. What happened to my feminist wife?”
@stothi we will likely get 6 this spring (I want either some speckled sussex or barred rocks, DH might pick buff orpingtons) we can't quite decide on a coop design. We think we want to do meat birds in the future and might build something big enough to accommodate that.
@EErin86 I have a Barred Rock and she's nice. Calm pretty girl, decent layer. I WANT some Speckled Sussex but I couldn't find any locally. Double check on the Orphingtons, but if I remember correctly they are notorious for going broody. Awesome if you want to hatch chicks, annoying if you want a good egg layer. I want to do meat birds too but I don't think I could process them. If I could find a local butcher that would process birds I'd totally do it.
@stothi I think I would have trouble processing laying hens we have had for awhile, but I think I could handle meat specific birds that we only have until fall and they would all look the same. I can process deer and I think they are adorable so I'm hoping it translates ok.
