I just got the testing location details for my engineering exam that is in two weeks... I have not studied nearly enough. I'm already having nightmares about not being prepared for things fingers crossed it goes well!!!
@EErin86 I am sure you will do great! Good luck on the testing.
we received our NIPT results today. The nurse called me and let me know the blood work all looks good. I have the sex in an envelope in my lap, but DH won’t tell me if he wants to know the sex or not so I am just letting it sit here and stare at me.
@nlc8424 I held out and then finally said, I have to know!
Drumroll please......we are having a girl. Interesting because from the time I was about 6 weeks pregnant I said I felt like it was a girl. Now to pick a name.
@eerin86 Ah good luck! Do you have time carved out to study between now and then?
@klj0228 Yay! Congratulations! Totally anecdotal but I heard while the general population has a 50/50 shot at guessing what you're having, the mom tends to be right 70% of the time. So cool that was true for your case!
@SkilledSailor my ob told me in my first appointment with no scans or anything other than a BFP that she thought it was a girl. Today my dental hygienist told me she put a toothbrush in my goody bag that indicated what she thought it was and when I looked it was purple/pink. And last week my mom had a dream that it was a girl. All of these people without me ever telling them what I thought it was. I have no clue what has made so many people think correct with this one.
We have some friends coming in from a New Jersey tonight and the normally come on Friday evenings so all week I keep thinking I am a day ahead. Today is only Thursday
On a positive note, many of my clients and coworkers will be off tomorrow and Monday so things should be slower.
@klj0228 omg, I WISH I had Monday and Friday off! At least you get to enjoy the benefits ;) and Congrats on Team pink!!!! <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/p0/da3s7p05ufok.gif" alt="">
@BusinessWife thanks! I chose not to take Friday or Monday off and to instead float my holiday out to the following week when my parents are coming to help with our home renovation project. I like working on days that everyone else is off because things are a little slower and I can catch up on emails.
@businesswife Do you not get Good Friday off? I could have sworn that was a bank holiday. Although I guess even if it is, you still don't get a three day weekend.

It's a trading holiday for WS; not for us. :|
@SkilledSailor I switched my study time to the morning instead of the end of the day (yup using work time, I figure it's related) and it's working much better, too much stuff was going on at the end of the day. Also DH finally brought home his textbooks for me to use so that will be super helpful.

@klj0228 Story of my life! My best week of the year is between Christmas and New Year's when everybody is out and I can finally get all my work done!
@ashh2018. That recipe horrifies me. There are no bananas in a frosty!!! Bananas are so terrible. No. Nope. Nada. A real frosty without banana taint sounds awesome though.
@spottedginger I’m so glad there’s someone else out there that hates bananas! Until we had DS, I wouldn’t even allow them in the house. Everyone makes fun of me for it
Haha @spottedginger I’m sorry if my bananas angered you. If you’ve never tried banana “ice cream”, you’ll actually be surprised at how good it is. To me, it doesn’t taste banana-y. But i guess if you have a strong aversion to banana you’ll probably notice, since it’s like the only ingredient hehe. I’m gonna try this faux-rosty (I just made that up, what do I win?) and I’ll let you know if I taste the banana
@ashh2018 That sounds amazing to me!!! Please make it and let me know how it goes. All I want this week are chocolate and fruit smoothies! There is a smoothie place near us that makes a raspberry Nutella smoothie. It’s all I want! I keep getting stupid kale green smoothies. I will get what I want this weekend!
And, I love bananas. But, yes you can totally taste them in something like this. But, ice-cream upsets my stomach and banana will totally substitute for the texture of ice-cream.
Ugh, you guys, I am a terrible Catholic - let me just start off by saying that. We haven't been to Mass since DHs diagnosis, (except I went once), we did ivf, (which the church is against, not that i want to get into all that here, please), but despite all that, I still believe, and there are certain things that are sacred to me, even if I'm a little bit lapsed.
So today is literally the most solemn day of the year when Catholics fast mores even than they may have been throughout Lent. Being pregnant, you wouldn't be obligated to fast exactly, but I usually choose to abstain from meat at least, candy etc. Pause to pray at 3PM, what I can to show some reverence today. Except that there's this random surprise work party going on... for our old boss who came back. I don't want to be an asshole, but I really don't want to have to eat meat today, and I already know what people are bringing. Sigh.
So IDK but I guess piggybacking on the whole having to work today thing, Good Friday just feels to me like not a day I want to "party" exactly either. :/ its bad enough we have to be there in the first place! Lol I'm bringing a vegetarian dish, we can welcome her back etc., but I already feel bad not knowing if I am going to bother explaining to my coworkers why I don't want to eat meat today, or just say whatever f-it ad eat it anyway. Another girl there I'm pretty sure is Catholic too, and she's bringing meatloaf! (to an office party, which is just weird to me to begin with.) But anyway. Yeah. :/
@BusinessWife from one lapsed Catholic to another- either way, you are not an asshole. If you don’t want to eat the meat, shrug it off as pregnancy aversions. If you do, you are pregnant and feeding a baby. The Catholic guilt is real. Sending hugs. I hope the party is a nice time!
@BusinessWife I totally agree with @spottedginger that if you don’t want a discussion, bring your food, shrug and say baby wants what baby wants. End of discussion for them. I’m catholic and I’ve also had these things come up and just say “Good Friday” when people look at me in inquiry. No discussion. But I also work with non nosy people who smile and nod.
@businesswife Sorry you're in this spot. FWIW if one of my coworkers just skipped a meat dish, I wouldn't even think twice about it -- maybe you're a vegetarian, maybe you're skipping for Good Friday, maybe you just think meatloaf looks gross. Hopefully no one will give you any trouble and you can get through the day at work and observe at home.
You guys are the best. I'm so glad you get it @Lcardinal04 @spottedginger [eta @adirat] ❤ I guess we'll just see how I feel, and try not to stress about it. But that was what I woke up worrying about! It's a small team, with few boundaries LOL but so they're still two of my coworkers who don't officially know about the baby yet, (not that I'm certain anybody hasn't let it slip, or they haven't figured it out if they've overheard any other conversations.) So I was also wondering if today would be a good day to let the two of them in on it, since we would all be there together in the kitchen presumably at some point, so we'll see how I feel about that, too.
@BusinessWife if you are comfortable telling them today might be a great day to let them in on the good news. I’m with everyone else it’s okay to choose not to eat meat. People may not even notice or you can just tell them whatever in the world you want. It’s okay to say I don’t eat meat on Good Friday or baby doesn’t want meat today or give no explanation at all.
@BusinessWife Not sure if this helps, but I pay nearly no attention to what other people eat at functions like that. I doubt most will notice. Also, no one is perfect, but even though I'm not Catholic and missed out on a lot of teachings overall-the song Jesus Loves Me comes to mind. Just the way you are.

*dirty lurker* @BusinessWife Because you're pregnant, you are not only excused from the rule of fasting but also technically from the rule of abstinence. So if you do end up eating meat at the work party today, you don't have to feel guilty about it.

Thanks guys. ❤ So I did try a little chicken salad, but mostly I just pigged out on the tabouli I brought. Whoops! Also, it's practically impossible to get us all in the same room at the same time during business hours. So while my boss kind of was talking about the baby in front of someone who may or may not know yet, there was also no good time when everyone was together, or at least the two who don't know. So I don't know how I'm going to figure out - hope for a good moment to just tell them both because otherwise it's going to become awkward that they are the only two people who don't know! :# ...as I sit here by myself eating with no audience whatsoever ;)
@lulu1180. Thanks for the reassurance. I'm sure you're right. I guess I wanted to try, but maybe I need to kind of cut myself some slack. ;)
@BusinessWife if it makes you feel any better, I only told half my team I was pregnant (technically I didn’t tell any of them, but they over heard the owner say something to me about it after I told him). The half that wasn’t part of that conversation got to find out when they noticed my belly. Oops.

@businesswife That really stinks!
I guess I would try the faux-rosty... But the banana does seem weird
@klj0228 @BusinessWife I worked the day after Thanksgiving this past year and I was the only person on my floor. It was quite the magical day
