@nmbrcrnchr1 GBCB means "Goodbye, Cruel Bump!" When people play the "you're mean and I'm leaving!" card. Yeah, the original post was pretty intense about not wanting to answer any more questions. Hopefully she can tell which kids really need help and which ones are being lazy.
I forgot to add my other FFFC! My new boss started on Monday and she wants to make all these huge horrible changes that are going to backfire. I told her in what I thought was a very polite manner that it was a bad idea and I laid out all the reasons why it wouldn't work. She called me unprofessional, defensive, and said my emails were "too long" and I "shot myself in the foot." I have no idea where any of that came from; I've never been called unprofessional before and I cried all day. Thankfully I had already lined up a new job to start in a few weeks, so after processing all my feelings, I decided I'm just going to thoroughly enjoy watching this sinking ship and I can't wait to say "I told you so" when everyone in the office leaves.
@coco2787 i agree. I hate that there are people dictating what adults can and can't say and they close boards whenever they feel like it. Makes me feel like a child. Off to read n18 now lol

@offtoneverland *hugs* Thatbwould really upset me if an authority figure responded that way to me. Glad you already have an out and can semi-enjoy the rest of your time there.
Teacher chiming in! She's wrong. Yes, it's incredibly annoying when your kids don't get something. Especially when it's seemingly easy and you've explained it 100 times. But it's your job as their teacher to make it click as best as it can. My kids this year just were not getting contractions. So I gave a quiz on it. Not to get them to "shut up and practice," but because then I could see where the mistakes were being made, how many of them were making those mistakes, and then plan for addressing the issue. From there I made groups, came up with strategies, etc. Some of my kids still suck at contractions and it's frustrating as hell. But at least I'm trying.
And it's not the end of the year. There's at least 2 to 3 months of school left. I understand giving busy work the last two weeks of school, or on occasion (*TW* I fell today and had to run to the OB, so my kids did busy work the whole day while I made arrangements for coverage and went to my appointment *End TW*). But not for an entire unit of study. Honestly, she just seems to have a shitty attitude towards teaching (from what I read).

@jsnakehole Omg, I can't imagine having to teach contractions. That must be so hard! You sound like a really great teacher. Thanks for the input on the topic. I don't know any teachers and wasn't sure what to make of it. Also, I hope everything is okay with you after your scare today!
While I’m not a teacher I know many. And most are amazing. And not that it’s right to rant about your students (especially on a public board) I am aware that sometimes people stretch the scenario a little and probably is not being that rude to their students. But I’m naive and like to give people the benefit of the doubt. UO.
@kristah2 I think there's a difference between venting about students (some days mine drive me up the wall!) and pretty much being annoyed that your students didn't get something you didn't teach. That's just bad practice.

As a teacher, I wouldn’t have said what she did. That said, what she did say was pretty tame, and I’ve heard way worse I the teacher’s lounge, and even people complaining directly to an admin. Definitely blown out of proportion. That said, I taught 6th grade the longest, and that’s pretty typical 6th grade behavior. They ask dumb questions, sure, but you need to be prepared for that. It’s not a surprise. Yeah, they can be lazy, but find a way to motivate them. But FFS, it was UO and FFFC, not a pedagogue discussion.
FFSC: someone on my BMB has been rubbing me the wrong way for a while, so I finally pulled the Ignore trigger. #sorrynotsorry. If I find every post irritating, and then you turn around and flat out insult my intelligence in so many words, Poof! Lol
@BusinessWife The thing I hate about the ignore feature is that you can still see that the person posted and it's really hard to resist the temptation of clicking to see what they wrote.

@jsnakehole Haha I should have clarified. By ignore, I mean I skip over her posts. But I still have them as readable because I fully expect for there to be drama at some point and I am sure she will be involved somehow. Basically, I want to be able to follow ALL of the drama once it happens. I guess that's my FFSC
On the weekly randoms, the topic came up of people being more interested in the mother and the pregnancy vs. Interested in the baby, and I was just sort of venting about my personal situation with my mother. Feeling like as a physician, she just wants to clinicize everything, being skeptical that I'm being seen by midwives, SO Relieved that I'm planning a hospital birth, even tho I told her adamantly I was not thrilled about it etc. Not wanting to have to defend my choices for my prenatal or L&D care to my mother. So MM decides to take one small aspect and run with it, point blank asking me to defend my position. Like, just no. I was so mad.
@BusinessWife Yikes. Sorry that happened. Eta I'm even more sorry that you are dealing with a mother who isn't respectful of the decisions that you want to make for you, your body, and your baby. Hugs
It's crazy that your state has outlawed birthing centers. I agree that it's not necessary for low risk to be in hospitals. To each their own I guess, but I commend you for powering through this like you have

@suzycupcake I’m surprised by the birthing centers being outlawed as well. A lot of other women on the board have shared low/no med friendly hospital stories though, which I thought was nice.
Edited because this is not the randoms thread. Oops
I had my son at a free-standing birth center but it closed shortly afterwards because of finding issues, I was so sad. (Insurance companies wouldn’t cover births there). Despite all the evidence that midwife assisted births have better outcomes, insurance companies only want to cover hospital births. It’s maddening.

Multiple hospitals near where I live have birthing centers within the hospital for midwife low-intervention births, now. That way, they’re also covered by insurance.
Did she really just post how great her c section was in the med-free / low intervention thread? @SkilledSailor. The ignore feature IS really weird @suzycupcake how you can see the post is there but not read it!!!

@BusinessWife@SkilledSailor I lurked that thread yesterday while trying to find the person who pissed off @BusinessWife. I can't believe she butted in to post that!
