@mamabearcj What venue counts kids over 2 as adults?  That seems a little ridiculous on their part... not that you shouldn’t have had the wedding there, it’s just a weird thing - do they just not feed the kids under 2? Like, why not let older kids have that meal too?  FWIW, at 3 my kids absolutely would have eaten the adult meal, cleared their plates and probably asked for some of mine too. I get that many kids won’t, but there are kids that will.

We had exactly 1 single adult at our wedding (as in not married and no SO).  I asked her for her bf’s name before I sent out invites so I could put him on there and she said she had just broken up with him so I added a plus 1 for her in case she wanted to bring somebody else.  We didn’t add plus 1s for anybody under 18.  A step aunt RSVPd with 5 for her family of 4. I was livid and asked my mom what she thought she was doing (I don’t have a good relationship with her at all, partly because she has no boundaries and is a busy body in general.) Turned out they had recently gotten a foreign exchange student assigned to them, so ok, I had to let this random person come, but the aunt never talked to me about it, nobody knew the kid’s name and at the wedding, nobody ever introduced her to us.  During the receiving line she stood back and waited for them.  She also took pics in the photo booth and signed our photo book in her native language, so we have no idea what it even says (she is Asian, so I can’t even google what she wrote since it’s in characters).

ETA: clearly I’m still upset about it because that kind of went off topic.

  • @sammierose464 @tinattt23 exactly - I just want good sleep.

And yeah, I think I hate the term more than anything. But the idea behind it just bugs me.

@purplegoldfish2 yeah I thought it was a bit ridiculous but since I didn't plan on having kids there anyways I didn't question it. I just assumed kids under 2 you'd probably bring food or snacks and milk for them? Stupid I agree though most kids can pack away a full meal and then some!

    ETA spelling errors..
