Tiny kitchens. I have one and it drives me absolutely crazy. We only have three pieces of countertop (one on either side of the stove and one next to the sink), and one is taken up with the microwave, one with my stand mixer and the toaster, since the mixer is too big and heavy for me to move every time I want to bake, and the third is "flex space", basically. Who the hell designs kitchens like this?
People who can't use their/they're/there correctly. actually, bad grammar in general talking on the cell phone when someone's waiting on you (think fast food/grocery store) snapping gum habitually late people people who expect to be waited on hand and foot
People who drive too slow in the passing lane and don't get over.
Inefficiency. Watching DH drove me crazy with unpacking. Running one offs inside from the garage. Make a pile!
People who say "like" too much.
People who don't read their emails and then ask a question that the email answered. Warm regards a$$hole.
@dreamscapes_ I felt like I was reading a post from myself. I was complaining about my small kitchen the last 4 years. We just moved though. I feel your pain! And the people who design those kitchens are people who don't cook!!!
@jrm_14 The "thank you/you're welcome" thing sort of applies to me because I have a tendency to just say "Of course!" or "Sure thing!" when I'm dealing with guests at work. Sometimes "That's what we're here for", lol. Depends on how much time I have to respond to the guest (and how annoyed/hot/crabby/in pain I am).
A lot of my bigger pet peeves are work related, so it's kind of hard to understand some of them if you've never worked there.
My husband's habit of saying "I'll get to it in a few minutes", because "a few minutes" tends to turn into hours.
The whole "If you don't like what you get paid, find a new job" thing. I did. And then I got hurt and had to change jobs. I still deserve a living wage.
@eleven_ I can't find it now, but there was a comic I saw a while back that had a woman getting told that and she turned around and smiled at the guy and blood ran out of her mouth, lol. Your comment made me think of that.
When you complain about weather (rain specifically) and people say "why don't you move?" Because.... there are more then 1000 reasons why people move. The weather is only 1 of those 1000 reasons. Don't be dumb. I'm allowed to be sick of the rain.
People who post nothing but selfies.... do you go anywhere or do anything? I wouldn't know it because all you post is the same picture with a different outfit on.
People who cough and don't cover their mouth. And people who can't stop coughing. Also go get a drink of water.
Omg @galactickates when we had a cold snap here, I was complaining and my best friend back home was like "HONEY WE GOT TEN INCHES OF SNOW". Um, cold is cold. When you're used to 80+ every day and it's 28, it's cold.
When you flush the toilet in a public restroom and it doesn't flush all the way so you have to stand there and wait to flush again so people don't think you're a non flusher.
Along the same line - when you're washing your hands but they don't have paper towels and only have the hot air blower. No thank you. Or SOME of the things are automatic and some aren't so you're standing there waiting for soap because the faucet was automatic. Just be consistent. I don't want to guess how things work. I BARELY even want to go in a public restroom to begin with.
Also why are Target and IKEA bathrooms always so disgusting. Everything else is great in those stores but their bathrooms.
@catlady2015 I worked at Starbucks in college and I would get so annoyed when people would come up to order and be on their cell phones. I would ask them what I could get for them and they'd put their finger up at me saying 1 second. I just wanted to be like the soup guy in Seinfeld and yell "No coffee for you"! ETA: @galactickates I also despise the air blowers in restrooms. And yes, what is with Target restrooms?!!? I usually just hold it while shopping unless I'm absolutely desperate.

@catlady2015@eleven_ I used to be a cashier at a grocery store and omg yes. I won't even do that at the drive thru if I'm on a call. It drives me up a tree when people do that.
@dreamscapes_ - DH saying - I'll get to it in a minute, makes me think this will happen before he gets to it. YES!!! We (really I) was cleaning the house this weekend. he goes to help and wants to take over the chore I was doing so I could do something else. I was thinking, "WHY couldn't you do a chore I wasn't already doing?" WTF!
I hate the sound of my H clipping his nails. He clips them ALL the time. At least it feels like he does. I hate that noise. "Clip clip clip clip clip" ahhhhh it stopped. Just kidding - "Clip clip clip...."
@galactickates I hate public restrooms so much. I have like a map in my head of all of the decent restrooms in the city I live in. (If you're ever in a mall, Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack usually have the best ones! And fast food wise In N Out has clean bathrooms. I should write a Guide to The Least Gross Public Restrooms, I swear.)
As for me I cannot stand conspiracy theorists! I worked with a girl last year who thought the moon landing was fake. I thought she was joking at first and then had to just kind of laughingly hide my shock/horror. She thinks all of NASA is like an elaborate (and very expensive, I would guess) lie and the footage from the international space station is "made up." There are so many insane, deeply stupid conspiracy theories these days, it makes me so angry!
Related, I hate dubious health claims that are not backed by science. My aunt posted something about how cinnamon cures cancer but big pharma is keeping it from you. Just...CINNAMON. Like...no. I'm all for new research (like actual scientific research) but please don't post about how essential oils mean I don't need my thyroid medication or whatever. (And I think someone mentioned this on the UO thread, but yes, I too am sick of hearing about essential oils foreeeeeeever.)
@dreamscapes_ “you’re welcome” is only one syllable longer than “of course!”
@catlady2015 That drives me ridiculous! Put down your phone!
People answering phones in appointments with myself or a physician also make me stark raging irritated.
Whomever posted about selfies at the gym- I 110% agree.

@eleven_ Oh my god, at work??? That is so gross. Clip your nails at home and alone, ideally. I hate that sound. Related, I forgot to mention but my sweet, otherwise wonderful husband bites his nails and it makes this horrible chomp sound that makes me want to throw up. *shudders*
@jrm_14 Isn't the left lane the passing lane? You aren't supposed to just casually drive in it even if you are going the speed limit. This is my DH's biggest pet peeve ever so I hear about it a lot!

@jrm_14 the left lane issue is a cross I'm willing to die on lol. The left lane is a passing lane. There is also the "going with the flow of traffic" rule. If people are going the speed limit and clogging the left lane, they're being selfish. Cops have started to pull people over for it here. I was driving up in Washington, granted it was night but still had a ton of cars on the road, and people left the left lane open for passing and It was beautiful. That's how it should be! If you are going to go the speed limit why can't you drive in the middle or slow lane? That's what it's for. Also I adore you, I just don't agree
ETA you can 100% say this picture doesn't make you cringe? Not even a little bit?
@jrm_14 Yeah, I literally have no idea why I say that. It just comes out easier than “you're welcome” when I’m dealing with 400+ cranky people.
Oh, another pet peeve of mine: when we’re in the drive thru, DH always ends orders with “that’ll do it”. I don’t know why, but it grates on my nerves to no end.
@dreamscapes_ I’m right there with you! It makes me mad just thinking about my small kitchen. We just bought a house and I neeeed to remodel the kitchen before I go insane. The worst is there is this wood divider in our cupboards and so I can’t fit in wide pans or cutting boards. Who designs these things?!?
@galactickates people who don’t drive in the appropriate lane for their speed are the worst! I’m with you on the whole speed limit thing too. (Sorry @jrm_14 ) Everyone drives over the speed limit where I live so when you drive that slow it’s actually really unsafe! I also can’t stand people who don’t use their blinkers...it’s really not that hard.
A big pet peeve of mine is when people leave labels/stickers/protective plastic on things, especially electronics. Please please peel those off!
@galactickates It depends how fast the person in the front of the line is going I think my aversion to people whining about left lane drivers stims from MH’s connnnnnnstant annoyance by it. If the first person is going the speed limit & passing a car, who cares? If they are leisurely driving, here it is the law to move to the right, as well. My position is firmly- if you are passing someone & going the speed limit, by all means stay in the left. It may take 15 extra seconds than people going 10 over, but, the speed limit is the speed limit. I still ❤️ You, too.
For the record, I typically drive about 9 over the speed limit on highways. If someone wants to pass me if I’m passing someone at that speed , they can wait as I’m already going over the legal speed limit.
It is highly annoying to me when people add multiple asinine modifications to a meal in a restaurant. Yes, you’re paying, but you pay for your food at home, too. They’re not short order cooks- if you want one of those, go to a fancier place or stay home.
Menu item: Steak with rosemary butter sauce, grilled veggies, and a baked potato.
Acceptable: Sub fries.
Unacceptable: Use sage butter, sautéed veggies, sub fries (extra crispy but still have soft insides) and a bone in the steak that’s on the outside and not running through it. Oh, and a side of mayo and ranch and if I had a baked potato, I’d want it cut shortways. Put everything on separate plates. And can I have an extra cup of ice? But not too much ice.
@maureenmce yes for dubious health claims. I'm a pharmacist and some of the rubbish that is claimed as fact drives me up the wall. Especially when I am helping a patient and another one chimes in with some absolute rubbish about what would work better that what I am recommending. Especially if it is homeopathy, I just can't with homeopathy.
When the lights are off and doors are closed and all the staff are in mufti with their bags but people still walk in and pretend they don't notice so they can browse for something. I am perfectly happy to stay a bit later if you have a script but not so you can pick out fish oil.
Also big yes to people on phones when I am trying to explain their medication to them. I just stand there and refuse to had it over until they stop.
@lokibear89 You are my hero for refusing to hand it over until they are off their phone!! A good pharmacist goes a long way. My pharmacist is amazing & I still felt like an a*hole with a script called into them 10 minutes before closing last week.
& @maureenmce That makes me so angry “use this & toss out alllll your meds!” While there are some odd things that seem to work (placebo effect?), my body will always have a disease in which a pharmaceutical medication is always needed
@jrm_14 THAT I can agree on. I was JUST about to say the same thing about food modifications. I get so annoyed when we are dining with people who do that. Be an adult and find something you like or suggest a place to go that you do.
I hate when people ask to spilt a bill 100 ways at the end of the night. If you're going to do that, let your server know before hand so they can split it the way you want. I've been to a dinner where H and I we're like here is 40$, someone else also paid over and this one friend was freaking because he was trying to allocate extra money. PUT IT TOWARDS THE TIP whatever.
@ecologyphdmama - H just went on a two hour tirade about stickers. But because companies slap stickers on everything that leave all that paper residue behind. He spent more time taking the stickers off then assembling the item. I even tried the hair dryer trick....didn't work.
+1 for food adjustments. Especially having worked in restaurants, it can be a huge pain for the staff to take care of that. I worked on the pastry team and my favorite was this family who said they had a deathly allergy to gluten and nuts. They ordered a birthday cake, which was not gluten free (we only had two GF pastry desserts that were always available, aside from ice cream and fruit plate, GF cakes had to be special ordered from a dedicated GF bakery). It was also not certified nut free and had cross contamination warnings. They still wanted it. Okay, fine. Either stop lying or enjoy your trip to the ER.
When people don't wash their hands for at least 20 seconds, especially in public places. Ew.
When I'm outside somewhere, looking down at my phone and guys think it's okay to come up and go, "Hey, hey, hey" Hellooooo, I'm obs looking at my phone right now and don't want to talk to you. Take a hint and quit trying. That's usually about the time I put my phone up to my ear and fake call my husband because I'm sick of the "get over yourself" comments when I stand up for myself.
When things are on auto bill pay and I have to call almost every month because they forgot to apply this discount that I'm supposed to get for 12 months or decided they wanted to charge me more for something that I didn't agree to. I have things on auto bill pay for a reason. I certainly don't have the time to call you every month. Just do what we agreed to and everyone is happy.
When people expect other people to be someone they aren't and judge them for it incessantly. People need to learn to appreciate differences. I'm not talking about people who obs go way overboard.
Hypocrisy and injustice in all forms.
People in the grocery store who can see the store is crazy busy but walk around in there like they are the only one in there--planting themselves right in everyones' way. The store is their oyster and everyone elses' time is not important to them.

I get really annoyed when people write: Month/cycles : 3/6 - in the dailies.
How could you possibly be trying for more cycles then you have months? That literally makes zero sense. I might need that one explained to me. Suuuper short cycles? IDK but it makes me uncomfortable when I see it. "Ooooooh this person doesn't know how time works"
Also if there is a reasonable explanation... My B.

When couples have joint facebook accounts. If you can't trust each other, you shouldn't be together. Someone recently even said they had a facebook jointly so that they could trust each other and not worry about cheating... really?!

@galactickates I think for some people, they do the numbering like that because they were benched or took a break or something... I dunno. I know that I've had 5/6 or 4/5 before because of the timing of AF and the date, though.
@dreamscapes_ I've been benched but I always took that to mean if you wrote month/cycle: 8/5 you've been trying for 8 months but only 5 cycles because you've been benched for 3 cycles, you had a loss, a long cycle or whatever.
@jrm_14 I don't mind at all for a script, I hang around late sometimes if someone is desperate and on the way. One time a lady stuck her head in the door and said it was an emergency, turns out she just wanted to find a nail polish that matched the one she had on. Not exactly my definition.
Where I live people have a weird habit of stopping their cars in the carpark or even on occasion on a road to have a conversation through the window. And then not move when a queue begins to form.... its ridiculous.

Oh, and a side of mayo and ranch and if I had a baked potato, I’d want it cut shortways. Put everything on separate plates. And can I have an extra cup of ice? But not too much ice.
ETA: or in front of doors. Seriously, just let me go where I need to go without walking through your conversation.
& @maureenmce That makes me so angry “use this & toss out alllll your meds!” While there are some odd things that seem to work (placebo effect?), my body will always have a disease in which a pharmaceutical medication is always needed

Month/cycles : 3/6 - in the dailies.
My B.
When I hold the door open for someone and they don't bother to say thank you. I didn't have to hold the door open for you! Jerk!
When couples have joint facebook accounts. If you can't trust each other, you shouldn't be together. Someone recently even said they had a facebook jointly so that they could trust each other and not worry about cheating... really?!
When people chew with their mouth open.
When people spell definitely as defiantly. Or when people don't know he difference between there, their, they're.

Where I live people have a weird habit of stopping their cars in the carpark or even on occasion on a road to have a conversation through the window. And then not move when a queue begins to form.... its ridiculous.
