Re: Symptoms {March edition}

  • @marcus7676 I just restarted using natural calm too. Do you find that it does anything calming for you? I'm still using a pretty low dose.

I bought it a while back for anxiety and starting taking it again once my tums consumption ramped up, hoping to prevent any issues. I was slightly constipated at the beginning of the 2nd but now most days it's pretty loose (TMI sorry) I'm not sure if it's the right balance of calcium to magnesium that's doing it for me or what.

  • You guys.. my belly grows through the day it seems.  I could zip my coat this morning and could NOT zip it tonight when I left work.  I really do not want to spend money on a dumb coat I'm going to use a couple of months.

I puked this morning... so that was random.  I actually think it's a side effect from starting my new anxiety/depression medication.  Luckily that side effect usually subsides after several days so my fingers are crossed I'm on the up and up of that.

My hip/sciatica are awful today.  I can barely walk tonight.  Feels like my leg just wants to give out.  I have a prenatal massage tomorrow afternoon so I'm hoping that helps some.

I took prevacid for the first time this morning and today was this first day in weeks I didn't get heartburn starting at 3 pm lasting all evening through bedtime. I was even taking zantac daily before!!  I know that it can also take a few days for this one to have a full effect so I'm really hoping for some good relief with this.

I swear, I take so many more medications when pregnant....

  • Has anyone else had issues with wheezing? It started about a week ago and isn’t all the time but does happen occasionally. I don’t feel short of breath when it’s happening.

  • +1 to evenings being worse.

I wore the belly binder thing yesterday whcih didn't seem like it was helping during the day, but I had significantly less pain last night.  It might be worth a try.

@silvergreen I did a ton of research last pregnancy on mattress toppers. We ultimately bought a latex topper half way through my pregnancy because of hip issues, which helped.  Let me know if you want a link.  Latex was safter in my research then memory foam / other types of toppers.
  • @ProfessorMcGonagall As my pregnancies progress I tend to have wheezing issues. I have mild asthma that acts up in pregnancy.

Mine's never so bad that a couple puffs of my inhaler can't help.

You could bring it up with your doctor. Even if you don't have asthma sometimes albuterol inhalers can be helpful to relieve wheezing. ( My MIL uses one occasionally though she doesn't have asthma.)
  • Going back to the hemorrhoid convo again...this might be TMI.

Has anyone had a lot of bleeding/clots? Wondering if this is normal or if maybe a call to the doc is warranted before the weekend.

  • @catlady1215 OMG yes! By the end of the day I’m waddling around moaning because my hips and sciatic have had it. It does help that I have 50# of kids constantly wanting to be held and picked up.

@2589 I was just telling DH I need to bust out my support belt for the evening because my stomach feels so much heavier.

  • @marcus7676 Yes, please, that would be wonderful! My research took me to this website where I found some natural latex toppers but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Seems like the price point is just right. I even e-mailed them to inquire about their mattresses and to see what kind of adhesive they use. Their reply: "Thank you for your inquiry!  The adhesive we use is actually the same latex compound that produces our latex foam, just in liquid form. This allows for our mattresses to be 100% natural latex!" Sounds good to me!

  • @silvergreen we ordered from the same site you linked (https://sleeponlatex.com/). My husband did a ton of research before hand too.
  • Ugh, night time charlie horses kept waking me last night.  Not fun.  They get bad in 3rd tri.

  • I feel super wierd today. Not lightheaded, but like I’m in a fog? Not sure if this is a side effect of waking up every hour all night and having trouble falling back asleep, or dehydrated, or what.

  • When I first lay down at night to sleep or if I lay down on the couch to read a book etc. I notice my chest feels heavy and I can feel my heart beating harder through my chest.  It doesn't happen if I'm up and about.  Dr. Google says it could be baby pushing against my diaphragm but I'm definitely going to be asking the doc on Thurs. at my next appointment.
  • @2589 sort of like waking up after bad sleep after drinking (but not truly hungover)?
  • @doxiemoxie212 yeah and can’t really decide if you’re still drunk or just indisposed...

  • Hip and sciatica pain is so bad today!  I even had a massage yesterday.  I think I should have asked her to use a little more pressure.  :(

  • @Austenista you too!!  I had some at the end of my pregnancy with dd, but this is awful. I feel like my leg is going to give out every time I walk.

Laying on my heating pad tonight and I need to start doing more stretches. I have a list of stretches and a few exercises from my midwife to try. If that doesn't help, I'm asking about a PT referral.

  • This past week I've been hit with exhaustion. Not as bad as 1st trimester but it feels too soon for 3rd tri. tiredness. I've been napping in the afternoon when I can but dude.  Don't remember this in other pregnancies.
  • @llamamama14 yes!  I just told dh that I feel almost as exhausted as I did first tri.  I think it's because I'm sleeping like total crap lately.  I hurt at night, can't get comfortable, dh snores and night is when baby boy loves to party.

  • @sabby2 yeah I'm not sleeping great. Something wakes me up (thirst, need to pee, gas pains, heartburn) and then my hormones keep me awake for an hour. I feel body achy tired, though, not just sleep deprived.
  • @llamamama14 I've been so tired all weekend. I was falling asleep ready for bed at 730pm last night. I'm not sure if it's hormones, daylight savings, or from waking up in the middle of the night, but the past couple days have been a level of exhaustion that reminds me of 1st tri.

I envision my round ligament (s?) looking like they are stretched to the max rubber bands right now. Whatever it is, from my hips up the outer part of my stomach, feels like it's approaching a snapping point.
  • I just sneezed and unleashed a fury of RLP. I hated sneezing before, but now my hatred is even greater. That freakin' hurt!!!
  • At the end of last week and over the weekend...and now today, my right mid back and right sided upper belly/rib pain is crazy. I can't sleep, I can't sit, I've been up pacing at night. My OB said I could use Icy Hot (the menthol only version), and this sort of helps. Otherwise I've been taking hot showers and trying to walk around more. I've also switched out my desk chair like 6 times, with no success. I have an appointment on 3/20 so I'll bring it up then.

@bearmoons my right rib has been killing me too. I'm actually fine laying down (I guess my torso stretches out enough), but I am in agony if I have to sit for more than 15 minutes. I'm constantly massaging right below my ribs, but then baby girl starts fighting me instead of moving, so...
  • @doxiemoxie212 yes, same, always rubbing the area, lol. I don't feel her up there, but I wonder if maybe she is, or maybe it's just the good ol' ute smashing everything up there. good times!
  • @bearmoons if it's that bad I would call the office and find out about being seen sooner.  That kind of pain could be lots of things.

  • Acid reflux! I never knew it could rear it's ugly head without any warning (so no sign of heartburn and no warning that the stomach acid was going to come up).  Deeply unpleasant burning in throat.

  • @Lolalipsy I feel ya! I was having it so bad.  I talked to my midwife and she suggested prevacid for me.  Since I've been taking it in haven't had a single day of heartburn, acid in my throat, coughing, etc.  It's a nice change from awful heartburn/reflux keeping me up every day!

  • with ya on the heartburn/reflux.  I was bending over this weekend tidying up and every time I bent I could feel it rising.  It was a great excuse to sit down.
  • @Lolalipsy I feel you also! I'm on step 2, zantac and it's still a touch-and-go :\
I've been trying to eat things that would absorb extra acid before having things. We basically have milk and chocolate milk in the fridge at all times - between acid and cravings ;) we go through a lot.
  • @sabby2 I know, I probably should...I'm a bad patient. I've been better the last day or so, I think if I sit less and stretch/walk around more it's better. And the babe is crazy active so at least I can assume she is good!
  • Guys, I destroyed my back last night carrying dd during her growing pains episode.  It hurts so bad to do anything today!!

I'm dying from heartburn and acid reflux. Took a Zantac last night, and it didn't help. Took another one this morning because it's so bad again, and no relief. It's so bad that water is making it worse.

I fully plan to make H stop and buy me things on his way home to try and help this subside.

  • @izza2 Do you have milk or anything dairy in your fridge? That helps me quite often when nothing else does.

It's crazy that water does that, but apparently it throws off the pH balance so that's why it happens.
  • @izza2 I have no idea if this is a crock or not, but I had a friend who swore by raw almonds for heartburn when she was pregnant. She said apple cider vinegar sometimes worked, but that the almonds worked even better.

So far mine is controlled 99% of the time with tums and is pretty minor so I have not tried either myself to have an opinion, but may be worth a shot if you are near either one.
  • izza2izza2 member
@MissKittyDanger - Milk/dairy does nothing but make it worse. It'll be okay for a couple of seconds while it's going down my throat/coating it, but as soon as it's gone and in the stomach, it makes the reflux worse. :grimace:
Which always sucks because I love chocolate milk, but can't have any after dinner (pregnant or not) because it'll make it hard to sleep with the reflux.
    *sigh*

I told H to pick me up tums and/or rolaids on his way home, and just waiting for my doctor to call me back to let me know if I'm a-okay to take Prilosec or something else, because the Zantac isn't working.

  • @sabby2 oh no!! Try and relax today and get some ice/heat (whatever works for you) on there. Back pain is the worst!

Add me to the upper belly/rib pain club. It was so bad on the plane yesterday I couldn't focus on anything else.

Also, is anyone else's baby still in breech. Mine was last they checked and he still very much feels breech. I'm not super worried about it, but should I be? Idk I'm just like either he'll flip or I'll end up getting a C, no big deal either way.
