Re: Appointments (2/26 - 3/12)

  • Good luck @dinodna3 I find it interesting that practices differ on fasting v. not fasting. Mine doesn't make me fast, just tells me to avoid sweets in the morning.

    Good luck @kfren!

I have my 28 week appointment and glucose test Wednesday and my ultrasound Friday to see if my placenta has moved.  I'm glad I have these appointments given the pain I was in this weekend. Lightening crotch is no joke and I'm worried that they are going to tell me I need bed rest or something.

I also have a meet the doctors tonight at one of the hospitals I'm considering.

  • @marcus7676 I was also told fasting was not necessary...i was told to eat a normal breakfast. Very interesting to see there really isn't a standard! I also got sent home with the glucose drink following my last OB appt and told to get tested within 26-28 wks and just drink at home and run to lab! I figured today was a good day as I have a growth scan so will do it all together!

+1 @marcus7676 and @stephcat421 I did not fast for mine either. I was also told to just limit carbs and avoid sugar. I had 2 eggs and a string cheese about an hour or 2 before my appointment. I can only imagine how sick id have felt if I are absolutely nothing.

Edit: I had string cheese, not strong cheese  :#
  • @marcus7676 Mine said nothing two hours before. I’m allergic to eggs, so most of the things I eat for breakfast are carb/sugar heavy.

  • 24 week appt tomorrow and glucose test.  I don't have to fast either, but i am not looking forward to the sugar headache i'm going to get.  It makes me feel like crap after.  Hoping to talk about scheduling a RCS and tube tying too!

  • Vibes to everyone doing their glucose test!!

I have a TV ultrasound on Thursday. Apparently I still need to drink all the water because they'll be doing top as well.
    I'm hoping everything goes well, but I think I've come around to accepting the possibility of bed rest, regardless of the type. {apparently there's multiple kinds ...}
  • Good luck to everyone doing their glucose test! I couldn't imagine if I had to fast before mine, I would feel like crap.

I had my 24 week appointment today and have an ultrasound with MFM tomorrow. Nothing concerning about this pregnancy, I just get a few extra ultrasounds because of pleural effusion/hydrops in my last pregnancy with DD. I'm excited to see this little girl again!
  • @MissKittyDanger Why do you think you'll be  put on bed rest? Did I miss something (I'm sorry if I did)? Are you feeling okay??

  • @LaceyBee522 My OB is kinda concerned about the back pain so I'm being tested {finally was able to ask why she's doing cervix assessment} She mentioned it could be a possibility, but it might be nothing. She's just being safe at this point, but to limit things for now until everything is cleared.
She also mentioned when she measured, she wanted to ensure it's correct. Maybe my due date is being changed?
  • Reg ob appt Thursday. And then we start every two weeks  :#:# home stretch?

    Also massage appt Wednesday!
  • @misskittydanger Ugh, I'm sorry! FX everything goes well and you can stay out of bed rest!

  • @LaceyBee522 Fingers crossed as well! I had such a rough go thinking it could be a thing at first {it just feels too early!} but after a bit of discussion with my H, it's definitely do-able and we've figured out arrangements on things.
  • @catlady1215 Thanks, and glad to hear no more GTT's for you!!! That is wonderful!!! I have my second 1-hr. next Tuesday and am not hopeful, but who knows?
  • @catlady1215 that’s awesome news!!

Jealous you're at every 2 weeks! I don't get that until end of the month lol

I would not be jealous about having to go every two weeks! My appointments with the Midwives are at the hospital where I have to pay to park in the ramp. If MH and I both drive to the appointment and meet there that is $8 every time.

I mean it is exciting to hear baby's heartbeat and know everything is still going well more often but every two weeks just sounds like a PITA to me.

  • @krashke every 2 weeks is a PITA.  I already feel like I'm going to the doctor all the time and work keeps giving me a look every time I go.  For 15 minute appointments, it basically takes an hour plus out of my day.

    Yeh my OB place it costs $5-$7 for parking, depending on how long we're there {aka how busy they are *sigh*}

@kfren fingers crossed! you never know, I felt doomed this time also. but I passed so you can also!

every 2 weeks appts (and every week when we get there) are a PITA for me also. I have to take DS to school, cross town during morning rush hour and hope there's no wait at the office to make it back to pick up DS from school in time. so it ends up I'm either making up 3hrs of work each time. or I have wake up hours earlier to clock in and get some time made up then, clock out, then clock back in later to finish my day.
BUT I'm excited for biweekly apts cause it means we're getting close!

  • @krashke my ob is a 5 min walk from our apt (shorter if I could figure out which apt she’s in in our building... lolz) and I’m still on team PITA.

Also I forgot to tell you - first Bradley class next Sunday! We missed the first one yesterday bc were on vacation but they’re letting us do a makeup with another group later.
  • @doxiemoxie212 yay! Keep me posted on how it goes! we have about 3-4 weeks left. It can be awkward at times but it has definitely helped with our confidence.

  • With my first I was excited to go to every 2 weeks, even more excited for every week...this time I'm definitely on team PITA.

Glucose test and regular monthly checkup Thursday!  I had to stay home from work today and take DD1 to the doc for an eye infection (always fun when they can't pinpoint exactly what it is) so I'm going to be all doctored out by the end of the week.

  • Count me in on team PITA. It’s a 30min drive and I either have to find child care or take my 15mo along. Fortunately I don’t have to pay parking but they’re often busy and we end up being there forever for what should have been a quick deal.

Eta: @katelynrae86 FX your LO isn’t so mysterious too. That’s super strange. But I’m glad they are monitoring it.

  • So many appointments this week! GL to everyone.

@catlady1215 CONGRATS on thyroid success. That thing is such a mystery, it's awesome that they've finally solved it.

@krashke @MissKittyDanger I've started taking the bus to my OB appointments because med center traffic is so gross and the $9 parking bums me out so much. It easily adds 30 minutes to every trip, but I feel a strange sort of victory in it. We're also seriously considering Ubering to the hospital when I'm in labor, as I can't imagine what we'd pay for a longer stay.
  • @emiliadkay I'm pretty sure my hospital validated for women giving birth - might be worth asking about.  Especially since you'll want your car on the way home with your car seat.

I had my GD test this morning. I feel AWFUL.

  • @emiliakay like @marcus7676 said our hospital validates parking for mom and dad so the max we would pay if we don't take our car out of the ramp would be $11 which would be much cheaper than an Uber for us and again like @marcus7676 said you would want the car seat installed in your car to take baby home.

  • @emiliadkay We have to pay for parking at the hospital, but apparently when you're in maternity ward they'll give you a deal or something. Nothing is on hospital website about parking in general, so we're gonna ask at some point. Worth asking, maybe your hospital also has different options?
  • @rnielsen321 good luck on your test results! I took mine today and hoping to have results soon!
