Symptoms week of 2/18

Re: Symptoms week of 2/18

  • @fwtx5815 I actually think I have it more/earlier. I remember feeling great and having little to no complaints until I really started showing (so like 5-6m maybe). Now, I can't move without feeling it at 10.5wks
That’s interesting bc I don’t remember feeling it after I was visibly pregnant. It was really only in the beginning for me. Hmm

*adds this to my list of worries*

  • @fwtx5815 I’m having RLP more than last time, I think. But I didn’t feel it much last time at all. Everyone is different!

  • I'm experiencing tailbone pain if I sit in a specific position on our couch too long at the end of the day. It then hurts when I get up and walk around! I had this with my first, too, and ended up using a special pillow to sit on at work to avoid pressure on my tailbone.  :D

  • Reading through other people’s symptoms I am learning of some new things I have to look forward that I had not heard or thought of in the past. For such a joyful time in our lives it sure does take its toll on us!
  • @ashh2018 LOL you should have! I'm sure they've heard it all before. It sounds like lightening crotch maybe? But I thought that didn't happen until later.

  • @ashh2018 it definitely sounds like lightning crotch. Like @starla I thought that didn't happen until the 3rd tri or so (at least for me last time). I'm sorry your dealing with it now and hope it's not for the remainder of the pregnancy :weary:
  • @ashh2016 Did it feel like sharp pains in your cervix? Kind of way up high/deep in there, not necessarily in the walls of the vagina or outside of it? Probably lightning crotch. I think sometimes people get it when LO kicks them in the cervix, later on, but I think the nerves can just kind of get activated somehow. I've felt it off and on though not recently. The cervix is so sensitive and has a lot of blood going through it and is just different than usual right now, so it isn't really surprising for it to feel kind of weird.

  • @treeofcheem it’s actually less like internal cramps and more like...actual pain...like someone kicked me in the vag  :'( Maybe that’s something else after all?
  • @ashh2018 That's what I mean! It's not like cramps, it's a sharp pain. Not everyone know what their cervix feels like; I'm aware of it now but didn't really ever notice feeling anything there years ago. I get weird pains through the vulva/vagina/cervix and can't always figure out where they're coming from even now. Just curious if that was the area for you!

  • @fwtx5815 I scratched our brand new truck trying to maneuver it in a parking garage, then proceeded to be unable to park in any of the available spaces and had to go to a different parking lot... I swore that day that I’d better be pregnant ‘cause there was no other reason for my complete incompetence!

  • @southernlady07 I am also having a lot of tail bone pain. I checked with a trainer, and it is because the tail bone is part of the pelvic floor.  One way to help is to do kegels.. which hurt my tailbone at the moment.

@starla @prpl11butterfly lol ok, the fact that it’s called “lightning crotch” will get me through it haha.
I’m glad I’m not the only one. Never heard this term before but literally made me lol!

  • @jhjocelyn I had to leave the dining room during dinner tonight because DH and DS had too much sour cream in their chili and the smell was making me sick.  I didn't even know sour cream HAD a smell before tonight.
  • I am loving this forum because either I find a bunch of people experiencing the same symptoms as me (many of which I didn't even know about before I was pregnant) or I learn about new things to look forward to like lightning crotch :D

@jhjocelyn this week I became grossed out by the smell of coffee grounds and microwave popcorn, which both smelled good to me before. On a more disgusting note, I have also become super sensitive to the smell of people's breath. I'm trying to avoid gagging while helping my students with their work. I am sure they don't all have terrible breath, and it must just be pregnancy related - but not fun!
  • Glad I am not alone dealing with a wonky nose! When I was expecting DD it was dog food and a certain sweet scented soap that would flip my stomach. DH has handled the dog food ever since!

  • Apparently since we’re discussing lightning crotch, I got to experience it tonight! I’d forgotten just how it felt - I retract my earlier statement about already feeling it this time. Those were twinges. This was lightning.  :#

  • Well I almost passed out in the middle of a concert. DH had to convince a lady to give me her bar stool and I had some water and felt better. I think that’s the first time I’ve ever felt seconds from fainting.
  • @yosemite2018 be careful girl! That's scary stuff. My guess would be you need to hydrate more. I've been terrible at it myself and some dizzy spells over the past few days.
  • Oh my goodness I remember the lightning crotch from last time but I didn’t get it until much later on. I had SPD with both my last pregnancies, but I can’t believe how early it has started this time! I literally roll over in bed and can feel my pubic bones shifting and popping. I’m scared for what it’s going to be like in 3rd tri!
  • @yosemite2018 that is scary! I agree with @purplebutterfly123 on the hydration, but also could have been from low blood sugar! Hopefully it doesn’t happen again.
  • Yep, I think I got overheated, dehydrated, and was on my feet too long. Also my doc told me I don’t need to take my iron pills anymore because my levels were fine but I’m wondering if I became anemic again so I took one as soon as I got home.
  • @rachel12385 I don't know if you'll see this tag, but this thread is the perfect place to talk about whatever weird stuff your body is up. In any given week there's a good chance that at least one or 2 other ladies have similar symptoms. Some weeks it seems everyone is going through the same thing!

    @Car0liiine. Uhm, yikes!??  :#

I have never heard of kegels making the muscles too tight?  So I mean I'm definitely not an expert, but I do like this app though, the way they have designed it in levels.  It starts of holding just a few seconds and works up to longer holds, each with several seconds of rest between. Then after a 30 second rest, there's a final set of just pulse-style.

I don't know how much is "too much," but I hear what youre saying, and I personally would feel weird trying to regulate it and just count on my own, but I feel like the ap helps so you're maybe not overdoing it?  It's maybe 3-4 min per day.

I know for me, it's already helped me not to pee my pants a little when coughing.  I mean, not that that happened, like the first week of pregnancy or anything.  :p

ETA Found this article which maybe helps explain some of the situations where a person might not want to train their pelvic floor muscles with kegels.  I guess maybe I can ask my midwife next time I see her, too.  What she thinks in my individual case.

    https://www.pelvicpainrehab.com/female-pelvic-pain/507/why-kegels-are-bad-for-your-pelvic-floor/
  • I was told it wasn't necessary to do them before the first baby since the muscles were already ok, but it was important to do them after that first one
  • @BusinessWife Honestly I don't know how much is too much either and I would guess that the program on the app is probably okay for most people. I wasn't even doing kegels regularly before all that. My theory is that my muscles were screwed up because I've had stress urinary incontinence since years before my first pregnancy and I wonder if I had a habit of squeezing all the time in an attempt to prevent leaking? And my stress incontinence is/was still bad through all of this. *Shrug*

  • @Car0liiine one of my cousins who had few surgeries ended up with a similar situation. Some muscles over tightened and others went completely unused. Messed up her pelvic floor and her lower back. Our poor bodies start to fall like dominoes when things get out of whack and it's so hard to fix it sometimes. I'm sorry your body is taking such a beating.
  • I need to start doing kegels but I can’t seem to do it right! I can’t help but engage my ab muscles and they end up hurting me over time. So TMI but I damaged my pelvic floor muscles; I had an illness a couple years ago that led to severe and prolonged coughing and basically I coughed so hard and so much that like...I strained those muscles. I definitely ... uh .... leak now, and I’m only 12 weeks haha. I’m so nervous bc I know I need to shape up.
  • @ashh2018 Definitely find a previous floor physical therapist! They will help you figure out how to do the exercise the right way so you don't rush making things worse.
Also, I'm pretty sure that this bronchitis I've had recently has resulted in me screwing everything up down there again. I think I might make some more appointments because I'm still having to wear poise pads every day.
